  1. Same age as you and similar memories. CBC was our only hockey until the early 80’s. RIP Bob.
  2. Sam had a muffin of a shot his first year or two. Gilmour was like a dog on a bone.
  3. Wow, I didn’t think he was in such good company. Lindy will like his fast, attack on the rush game. I hope he ends up a bit better than Ehlers. Ehlers is good but always seems to leave me wanting more.
  4. I am interested to see if KA moves on from prospects and which ones. Ruff will watch Rochester closely and probably get up to speed with Savoie, Komarov in the CHL playoffs. KA talks about a team of decision makers, I want Lindy to have a lot of input.
  5. I watched his clips from Michigan and read the draft reviews, they all said this. He is the polar opposite of Pronger despite his stature. I just want to see an incremental increase. As he gains strength and confidence he may hit 10% more. Using his body to win battles should be a given.
  6. Benson will have to play 24 minutes a night. I hope they go out and get a couple of guys who can get some greasy goals and don’t take s**t from anyone. I mentioned Dakota Joshua in another thread as an example.
  7. Nailed it. We want the next season to start now. I don’t get as much entertainment from watching the Leafs lose as I do with a Sabres game in which they compete.
  8. Vegas medical staff are miracle workers.
  9. Turning over the puck by dangling at the B’s blue line.
  10. Lindy will spend some time watching Rochester and the prospects, including Appert. If Ruff likes Appert, he could be part of his staff. Has Appert run a good PP in Rochester? I would like a PP and skill specialist like Adam Oates to be the PP coach. Patrick or McKee as D coach is possible. McKee has the potential to be an NHL HC someday. Patrick is someone Lindy trusts.
  11. Dakota Joshua would be a great pickup if Vancouver cannot afford him. 6’3” 206 C/LW. He finished the year strong and got his points to 32 in 63 games. I don’t think he is a fighter but he has size and grit.
  12. Sportsnet Leaf blowers out in full force. “The best game Matthews has ever played” “Matthews gets his 70th of the season” “Tavares leadership on display” Blah, blah, blah.
  13. Most of us hated what Krueger did to Skinner. Now we want Lindy to do the same thing. I don’t know if anyone can get Skinner to play the right way. Lindy needs to give him an ultimatum and have KA on board. The problem with giving him away (buyout, 50% retention, not to mention the NMC) is finding a replacement for his 30 goals. One more year and the buyout is a much better financial decision and a prospect might be ready to get 20 of those goals. I don’t know if KA has the imagination to get a deal somewhere to get rid of him and get something in return. TP may balk at salary retention.
  14. Quinn could be the bumper guy similar to Point in Tampa. No Kucherov to feed him or TNT but Dahlin could slide over as he is also a shooting threat. Byram could join Dahlin as a 2D PP1 and have them rotate around, moving the puck and themselves. Tuch could do net front and goal line/corner work.
  15. I thought they might go in a different direction. Lindy fits the experience part of KA’s thinking. He wants to be in Buffalo. As others noted, I want to see some quality assistants to round out a solid group. Good luck Lindy!
  16. I agree with the need for a tougher coach. The players are towing the company line about accountability but they enjoyed DG’s country club atmosphere. Keep in mind that coaches are almost all hired and fired within a few years. The hardass will wear on guys and be gone and many will be wanting a player’s coach. Many teams alternate between the two types.
  17. Boston also has also hit 3 posts while Auston Messiah has one.
  18. I know he is nowhere near the caliber of Dman the other 5 guys were but he was a big part of their corps in that Cup year.
  19. That’s something that interests me.
  20. Anybody ruining the Leafs parade plans gets my support. Once that is done I will dislike the Bruins again. My two favourites are Colorado and the Jets. One will be gone early.
  21. Small sample size but goalie Mike McIvor of the OHL’s North Bay Battalion has had a fantastic playoff run so far. As a backup he went 8-9 with a 3.78 GAA and .876 SV% in the regular season. Dom DeVincentiis, a Jets prospect and OHL goaltender of the year last, went down early in the playoffs and McIvor took over the net. He has gone 7-1 with 2.28 .924 numbers so far. He could be a 7th round stab at a goalie.
  22. Didn’t realize he had that impact on them.
