That’s where you see what Rosen, Kulich, Östlund etc.. have in a short term stint. -

This is a move in the right direction. McLeod checks off all of the boxes I had for a 3C. Big, fast, PKer and good on draws. He is coming from a team that has recent success. He’s also from southern Ontario, Mississauga to be exact. Ruff would know the family, coached his brother Michael, who is part of the 2018 World Junior charges. I like Savoie but something had to give and I don’t think he would help much this year.- 724 replies

Savoie is also a local kid, St Albert, Alberta. -
That would be such a cheap thing to do. Now that Skinner has been cut loose and the cap is once again not being weaponized I cannot eliminate the thought that it is possible.
-
The guys brought in for the 4th line are hopefully on the PK so that TNT isn’t blocking shots. Greenway was also a solid PKer. Getting a healthy season from him means around 40 goals. A reinvigorated PP where the focus is not only the TNT one timer should help overall numbers. I personally would like to see Quinn as an option. He could be a bumper player like Point does for the Bolts.
-
There is a higher possibility of that happening when they are putting those numbers up before they’re hitting their 26-28 year old seasons. The youngest team in the league should have a ceiling above last year’s total.
-
It’s a total in between what they’ve done the last two seasons. Possible. With improved team defense and goaltending the differential should widen. That is the number I watch more than GF.

Sabres Sign Jason Zucker to a One Year 5 Million AAV Deal
French Collection replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
There already is a drop off in his game. He had 73 points in 80 games last year and 33 in 66 this year. He is 30 years old, already past his prime. Good for him for cashing in. Teams were spending like drunken sailors because the cap went up a few million. There will be some regrets. -
Have a great evening all of you south of us. Play safe.

Don’t send him to Rochester. -
OT: Things (mostly sports related) that you think are overrated
French Collection replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
I barely watch them. There is usually more going on in the summer but there is also no major sport/event to pull me in. The Winter Olympics appeal to me because I can relate to most of the sports. I also like that Canada has a higher medal count. -
Around the NHL: The 2024 Offseason

Carolina have $11.6M available to resign Jarvis, Necas, Drury and a 7th Dman. -
Thanks for the updates.

That deal works well for Colorado and Casey. They had no real 2C so he has no competition for a prime role. We will never know if he would have signed for similar money in Buffalo. I have always liked Byram and am eager to see his fit within the unit and how Lindy uses him. 3C is still my biggest concern. KA seems to have been shut out of any upgrades and spins Krebs as a capable player. If he starts the season there and falters, it looks like he has no backup plan other than the Rochester kids.
-
He wasn’t ideal but Roslovic could have been a bottom six guy who can play C. I don’t think there is anyone left in UFA of any value for that role.
-
Lundell would have been a great target. Florida has no wiggle room. You could have got his attention by offering a decent amount more than their upper limit. I know they would probably match and be just under 10% of the summer cap limit, but they would have to shed a decent player to be compliant by October. Play dirty and threaten Zito with this unless he trades Bennett to you in a reasonable deal.
-
I would think it might be easier for a player to get the number he wants by having a third party enter the fray. There could be a number where the team is unable to match, or maybe they prefer the draft picks.
-
Tuch to Winnipeg would gut him. Many fans would lose their minds. That would be cold for KA to do that to the player who wants to be in Buffalo more than any other on his team. Chevy must see him as his new Wheeler. The thing I don’t like about McGroarty is his demand for NHL ice time. He is the type of prospect who resembles a 3C. Savoie has a higher ceiling and that is probably who they want.

I mentioned it in another thread. No one wants to use offer sheets, why have them as a tool? Everyone is worried about retaliation or upsetting someone who is an opponent. Get rid of them if no one will use them. The owners and Bettman gave this tool to the union and this group has a gentleman’s agreement to not use them. Go rogue and weaponize your cap space. Every other avenue seems closed at this point. Seems like KA and TP are not popular to begin with. Stir the pot and get other teams paying attention to you. This could be a way to improve your team Kevyn.

Quinton Byfield can play C. Seth Jarvis might be cheaper.

That’s an accurate quote, coming from a former agent. Translates into, just win. Bertuzzi and Teravainen just wanted to cash in and have security. Chicago can’t pretend to be in win now mode.
