Of course it’s a wish, I’m not KA. Mitts has TNT and Cozens ahead of him here. Just saying he could be their 2C or 3C.

I find the Sabres would be taking a risk. Sabres getting 31 year Foligno, 11 points in 28 games. Dumba may leave. Spacek may not pan out. VO is a 20G player and could get 30 in the right situation. Mitts could be their 2C and get 50 pts. Johnson is more ready than Spacek. I used the 2 most expendable guys that we see every day.

They get younger. They add secondary scoring, VO and Mitts both have almost twice as many points than Foligno and Dumba. Mitts is from there and may become a Tuch like inspiration. They are thin at C. Cap space. They probably lose Dumba to UFA. I find the Sabres are taking a risk here, Foligno might be done and Dumba could bolt.

Many on here have said that RHD is an issue now and going forward. Grit is another quality discussed. I have some time on my hands so I thought about a couple of players I have mentioned before. Matt Dumba, Marcus Foligno, David Spacek and a conditional 2nd round pick. Victor Olofsson, Casey Mittelstadt and Ryan Johnson. The Sabres get grittier immediately with Foligno and Dumba. Foligno is on the back 9 of his career but still has a few seasons left to contribute. He is signed for 2 years at $3.1M aav. Dumba is $6M for this season and is a UFA in July. If he is a good fit he will need to be convinced to extend. The 2nd rounder is insurance if he leaves. Spacek is 19 year old RHD playing for Czechia in the WJs. He is the son of former Sabre Jaro Spacek. I would say Foligno and Spacek would meet KA’s requirement of wanting to be in Buffalo while Dumba has only ever played in Minny. VO and Mitts don’t seem to fit in as well now or in the future. Minnesota has said they lack scoring, need cap space and probably can’t extend Dumba. They are short on natural centres and Mitts is from there. Johnson plays at Minnesota and they get a second rounder if he doesn’t sign there. He is a LHD which the Sabres have a lot of. The Sabres get older but these guys are a bridge until the prospects are ready and a better fit than Mitts and VO.

I would guess that the team wants to play for the city, the Bills and to get back on track ASAP. Let’s go Buffalo!

No semis until tomorrow

I suspect the letdown after a big win in Boston plus a few New Year’s Eve drinks went to their legs. Get ‘em next game.

Savoie will be one to watch as the season progresses. If he helps his team go deep into the playoffs and possible Memorial Cup run there will be plenty of views to make a more informed decision. I hope he has not peaked. Reinhart was similar in his post draft season, he was working on his 200’ game and strength. Kulich seems like an Olofsson replacement in the middle six, who can play C and is stronger. Östlund is interesting to watch at the WJ. He is getting decent ice time and PP duty. He is not standing out but holds his own despite his small stature. KA is not in a rush and will give him lots of time. TSN crew was saying that he will be the guy for Sweden at next year’s WJ. Levi seems to have taken a step back but I suspect it is more of a team thing. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and will be working on getting ready for the next level. He is a big piece of the Reinhart deal so KA will be patient with him. UPL’s success has slowed the need for him to be ready ASAP.

It was disappointing to be at this game, they just didn’t have it last night.

Bedard is leading the WJ scoring race by 10 points after 4 games. This is his draft year, he turns 18 in July. Some guys he is competing against are turning 20 soon. My comparable for him is he plays like Point but shoots like Matthews.

Last minute decision to get tickets and drive 4 hours to Ottawa. Don’t let me down boys. Let’s go Buffalo!

DG has to ride UPL while he is hot. He is a huge part of this winning streak. I would keep Comrie in the AHL as long as possible (5 games?). Anderson gets a game tomorrow in Ottawa, a great showing by him will make things interesting. If he struggles then some maintenance days may be required. In that case, Comrie comes up right away. KA will have to get creative to carry 3 goalies.

Well, that was a satisfying roller coaster ride. What a game by Tuch, UPL and Cozens. Gutsy game by Krebs.
