I think I would pick Lambert, provided his interview didn’t reveal some fundamental problems. He has tons of talent and could be brought to N.America right away to develop. Part of the issue may be the teams and or roles he played in Liiga. Maybe he needs to get away from his father. Let him dominate in the CHL for a year to get his confidence back, or if his skill level allows, play in Rochester. The risk is he may be a Yakupov or Alex Nylander.

I wonder how Lambert interviewed? He is a top 5 talent but has dropped a lot. The interviews may have revealed something and a team may take him top 10.

If Bergeron retires, I think they miss the playoffs.

He lost a bet with Spittin’ Chiclets mate Ryan Whitney on the battle of Alberta so he had to get the top of his head shaved.

I watched him a few times this year. He came on in the second half as the top player on a young and weak team. Most nights he was their only chance at generating offence. I don’t know if I would take him at 28 but at 41 I would feel pretty secure with that selection. If the Sabres picked 2 of Nazar, Ostlund and Beck then I think they should stay away from another smaller C and go for a Dman.

I could handle Nazar at 9. If Savoie slides, he could be a nice pickup there as well. Gauthier, Kasper, Ohgren and Ostlund are guys I like at 16. I could get talked into McGroarty there. Beck is a guy I would pick at 28, a versatile C. A RHD would be nice to draft there, if a good one is available. Nelson is a guy I’ve watched a lot this year, but he could slide to 41. If the first 3 picks are forwards then I think they have to take a D here, preferably RHD. There should be lots of options but I am intrigued by Rinzel. I am excited for the Sabres to take 4 of the top 41 picks this year and the fact that they can develop for a few years while the Sabres young core gels and improves.

Played as a teenager, my cardio was at it’s peak. I was captain of my high school team. I can only watch World Cup games and some qualifiers. The games are too slow to watch.

Kadri is no angel but I don’t like him being out for the series/playoffs. He was one of the Avs best players all season. I don’t like Kane but he will get another contract out of this season. His on ice production will have a few teams look the other way and sign the power forward that will put them over the top. I doubt he gets much term.

I was on a cruise ship and out of WiFi, otherwise I would have been on SS. At least the Avs game was on TV.

They film the arena scenes in Sudbury, about an hour from here. My son plays at that rink quite often.

Huge no from me. I dislike Nylander so there is that bias. He has scored some goals in the playoffs for the Leafs but has not led them to anything. He is not what I envision as a playoff performer. He does not finish any checks, avoids areas that might have a battle and the only shot he ever blocked was playing mini sticks with Alex.

I might have a meltdown if they take a LHD with 2 of the 3 picks.

Dave Hodge was a great frontman for HNIC.

Another guy that I see as boom/bust is Sam Rinzel. Seems to have a lot of tools but hasn’t really been challenged playing High School hockey. Could be the RHD of the future for them.

Even a guy like Campbell may be looking for a good payday. This could be his last contract.

Agree. The good GMs are able to get players to take less money in order to have more to spend on other assets. Crosby, Bergeron, Marchand, etc… Chicago and Tampa have won multiple Cups by keeping a core and re tooling the rest year by year.

Fox gets points and won a Norris trophy but he is not as dynamic as Makar or capable of controlling the entire ice like Hedman. I prefer Dahlin’s game.

Kevin Weekes is a knowledgeable guy, I like the way he breaks things down. Emily Caplan has been around hockey for quite some time. She speaks well, I’ve seen her be a gust on Sportsnet’s Tim and Friends. Oh, and Ferraro is my favourite colour commentator. I love his work at TSN.

I am starting to warm up to this idea, there is no way the Leafs could match. He will probably have to give them a big discount if he wants to be on that team. An added bonus is we remove their best goalie option. He seems like a good guy and is loved by his teammates, KA likes those types.
