  1. I thought I read somewhere that both 0 and 00 have been banned by the league.
  2. don't call me surely --ba doom dum--
  3. This is definitely true for upper 1st round picks. I wonder if this was even considered by the League, and if they will have to eventually back track a bit on the random nature of next year's rules.
  4. PBS Article on most corrupt states in the US - NY is all over it, to no one's surprise. http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2015/04/16/400164062/the-most-corrupt-state-in-the-country-is
  5. Why's everyone being so discreet about who they think it was? Let's start naming names!
  6. Innit It's an English thing, kind of like their version "eh" or "know what I mean?" or "right". It's a Cockney thing, or at least a blue collar type-accent of the contraction "isn't it?" So you might say to someone, "It's a lovely day, innit. Not sure whether a period or a question mark is appropriate at the end.
  7. Thanks for posting this, Hoss. I'm from East Aurora, so you know I did my 50. It was cool in that video to see the movie theatre I used to walk to over 40 years ago. They also showed Vidler's which is right across Main Street from that theatre. Vidler's is a five and dime store and it was my favorite store in the universe back then. Apparently it's still amazing. http://www.vidlers5and10.com/ Be sure to check it out if you are ever in East Aurora.
  8. Oh man, I was there for the spangled figure skaters throwing sabres into the nets between periods as the refs skated by! I was only 6, but even I knew they weren't real swords (there was no blood).
  9. This guy is comedy gold, but we don't want him coaching the Sabres. He's an unapologetic mess.
  10. Apparently this happened 2 months ago, and the Kings went 8-0 afterwards...if you believe the GM. Regardless, there is some funny stuff in this story. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/kings-players-locked-darryl-sutter-out-of-dressing-room--somehow-didn-t-make-epix-141624554.html
  11. Totally my new favorite word.
  12. "Time to bring back the Slug jersey"
  13. Reverend Peyton is the man. Great call out, Dark. Sabills, you’re right that video doesn’t really do his talent justice, but here’s him describing and demonstrating what he’s actually doing. Not too shabby.
  14. That beer (Tank 7) is absolutely fantastic. Not even remotely kidding here – get some immediately. I’ve been avoiding the tank vs. non-tank discussions here for the most part. I just don’t understand why these conversations have gotten so silly, and here’s why. It doesn’t matter who wants us to win every game and who wants us to finish last. The players will always try to win. The coaches will always try to win. These are professionals. It can’t be any other way for them as professionals, and anything otherwise would constitute them throwing games and thereby making them not only frauds, but felons. From a GMTM perspective, what’s he supposed to do? There is no shame in getting assets for players we know are not going to stay. Again, we’re talking about professionalism. There is no deliberate subterfuge here. He wants to succeed and watching UFA’s walk for no compensation is not a good way for him to stay employed. We are just fans. Whatever will be, will be, in spite of what we want or think. Let’s all breathe deeply my friends!
  15. I've said it before and I'll say it again - the Leafs are cursed by the ghost of Harold Ballard. The Chicago Cubs have a better chance to win the World Series than the Leafs have to win a cup. Heck, for that matter the Cubs have a better chance to win a cup than the Leafs do! CURSED!!!
  16. While we're waiting, here's a fun movie trivia tidbit... I watched Good Will Hunting last night and checked out the Wikipedia page for it while it was on. I saw this and laughed out loud! ("Sean" is Robin Williams' character) "Seeing that Damon and Affleck were having trouble with Castle Rock, Smith and his producer partner Scott Mosier took Damon and Affleck on a tour around the studios. The pair turned down every offer, until they met Harvey Weinstein at Miramax, who had read the script the night before the meeting. Weinstein commented in the meeting that the only problem he had with the script was an oral sex scene between Sean and Will on page 60, Damon and Affleck claimed that they had inserted it to test which studio executives had actually read the script.[6]" If that's not funny, I don't know what is!
  17. Ted Cruz - the gift that keeps on giving. From my limited understanding of the law, there is no legal case to be made that he is ineligible for prez. I hope the Dems just keep their mouths shut about this non-issue. I think Cruz's true "background" problems are going to originate from within the GOP, and it's not going to be related to how American his mom is, but rather what a commie-loving, Castro-supporting Cuban his dad was. I know Ted Cruz has no use for commies and Castros, but I just think this is the type of resistance he will face.
  18. Why all the angst? Can we all agree that charity is better than greed? So let’s look at it this way. Edmonton has a rich and brilliant hockey tradition, and they have great fans. It’s just a shame that they have finished dead last for so many years in the recent past. For crying out loud, they have tens of thousands of CHILDREN there, who are devoted Oilers fans, and this repeatedly finishing last business just can’t be good for their psyches! It’s hard enough living there as it is without the stigma of being dead last – yet again. These people intentionally eat heavily salted licorice! Why would any good soul want this team to finish last again? --Totally not kidding about the salty licorice – the Dutch influence--
  19. Probably my favorite jingle of all time: It's a frosty mug It's a little brown jug That was made for you and me Just say OV for a fresh kind of pleasure Old Vienna that's our kind of beer! I can't believe I couldn't find some version of that commercial online. It was easy to find 2-3 years ago. It was $32 for a fifth here in NC.
  20. I had never heard of falernum either. Of course, I'd also never heard of that ginger liqueur. I picked up some of that ginger stuff the other day - Domaine de Canton. Very tasty, but a little sweet. It is a cognac base. I think I prefer it with white liquors like gin or vodka, as opposed to bourbon, but that's just me.
  21. Any SEC football players reading this thread are giggling like a little kid whose dad just farted in church.
  22. I stand corrected. Thanks for helping me un-mis-remember!
  23. OMG - I thought the thread title was figurative, not literally true! So this means he thinks we'll finish last and lose the lottery. He's already got that Buffalo fan mentality!
