  1. That would make it fairly far from being “done”.
  2. Is this supposed to stifling the at home losing streak?
  3. Something is afoot. I wonder if this is holding up the “finished” Dahlin contract.
  4. I have to think PSE was set up for one reason and one alone: money. I would love to have to know the tax implications of forming PSE and the implications of him dissolving it.
  5. I heard Dahlin signed in disappearing ink and skipped town. Said he’d get around to it eventually.
  6. As we have learned, unfortunately stars aren’t stars until they play for a winning team.
  7. They didn’t necessarily have to commit actual crimes. Many criminals possess anti-social personality traits, but not everyone with such traits actually go on to commit a crime. Some people can control their impulses better, but this doesn’t automatically make them good people. It sounds like by hanging around the locker room, he met such personalities. We’ve all met such people in our lives at one point.
  8. It’s likely he knocked him down a few notches because of the injury. Not Quinn’s fault, but we’ll now see some of those other players get a chance to play catch up.
  9. I’m worried that Princess Fiona may have talked him out of it; “You must consider the taxes, Young Rasmus”.
  10. It would’ve been great if while Dahlin was sitting on the throne, Princess Fiona wipped out a contract and a pen.
  11. This is the same team that knowingly drafted Mitchell Miller (for a reminder: bully, black kid with developmental delay, a urinal) and once media scrutiny heated up, cut him. So, “previously unknown to the team” should come with a caveat.
  12. Reminds me of when astute observers noted Reinhardt not smiling during games.
  13. Only if he’s playing injured, like we saw at the end of last season.
  14. I was initially reading about the Amerks assistant coaches. But, as they say, the devil is in the details.
  15. I believe Tampa did this for years. I don’t think it hurt them.
  16. Sorry to break it to you guys. But it’s a done deal. Here the proof:
  17. Oloffson makes significantly less (4.75) than Gibson (6.4) and will also be a UFA after this coming season. One who owns Gibson also owns him for 4 years.
  18. True. It wouldn’t be complete without a picture of him posing behind a desk with a pen in his hands.
  19. I really don’t get this take. We didn’t have “one hell of a 1A goalie” last year and we were 1 win out of the playoffs. Are you saying we would’ve been better off with Joki (#4 TOI) or Clague (#5 TOI) than signing Clifton and Johnson? You’re essentially saying our D has considerably worsened from a time we had no one even remotely resembling a 1A goalie.
  20. I just don’t see how this would be at all possible. He is owed $6.4M for the next 4 years. Even if they retain 50%, it still doesn’t make sense. At this rate, it would’ve been smarter to sign Ullmark for a 6 year contract. As an aside, I find it ridiculous how players demand trades when they signed a guaranteed contract. Shouldn’t have signed for such long term then. I also don’t believe the agent here. That’s damage control…for himself. Best thing would be to terminate the contract, but the agent will do anything to prevent that.
  21. I don’t think they have to. It’s not optimal asset management, but teams have let FAs walk for nothing in return.
  22. The PLD trade was only done with the premise of a contract extension. There would’ve been no haul without that. So, it comes down to which teams have room (or it even makes sense) for a $8/9M extension for a goalie. There’s not many teams that fit that description. The Sabres don’t. There may be some garbage teams. More teams become open to a trade if you eliminate the costly extension, but that means getting significantly less in return for his rental. I don’t think they’re gonna get what they think they’re gonna get. Took the words out of my mouth.
  23. The Bryson addition by subtraction is huge. I’ll give a corollary argument. A not insignificant portion of last season was played with one of our top 4 injured and this coincided with a lot of lost games. These were the games Bryson was give top 4 minutes. Getting Clifton (and even Johnson) allow for this to never happen again. The result will be akin to getting a top 4 injury last year, but not having any drop off in play. That 8 game losing streak in November may never have happened. Last season the Sabres were 8-15-3 without Samuelsson.
