  1. Do we really need to trade anyone away? I get that we would rather get something rather than nothing. But, do we really need an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick or another long-shot prospect? I would rather just let them play out the season.
  2. I wonder if it’s too early for him to get some interest from other teams this offseason. If so, the Sabres may be forced to bring him up. Wonder if Ruff would step aside if this happens.
  3. Don’t forget a hooker’s client.
  4. Tonight we start with a 5-1 beat down. Crunch wins.
  5. Would do Cozens for Mitts. He performed for us in the past, so might be able to unlock some value. And his contract is much better. But only if Ruff is OK with it.
  6. Borgen signed an extension.
  7. I think you took this the wrong way. I meant that knowing Botterill nixing this trade for this reason would make any Sabres fan sad.
  8. I believe the trade was Risto for Ehlers, but Botterill didn’t want to throw in a 3rd or a 4th to sweeten it. Sorry for ruining your day.
  9. One interesting thing is what was not said. No one brought up how Eichel was treated or how we don’t treat players well. I know you can’t prove a negative, but if that was said, it’s a much more worthy quote than the tired reasons of “no playoff in forever”, “taxes”, or “all they do is lose.”
  10. Oooh. Love the innuendo. Wonder if this means anything.
  11. Would love to trade Cozens for Mitts. We should’ve picked Mitts over Cozens in the first place. He played up and down our lines.
  12. I don’t understand this. Can you be more clear about what you are reading?
  13. I know next to nothing about this guy, but if we take him at 3OA, is he one to even go back to juniors? Is he NHL ready? I would think even if he went back to juniors, he would probably make the jump to the NHL the next year.
  14. You don’t want to disrupt this chemistry.
  15. And if we move him for EP40, we aren’t saving $7.1M, we are adding $4.5 to our cap. Otherwise, I’m all for dumping Cozens contract.
  16. Exactly. Why would we give up our best forward (one with a great attitude and signed to a reasonable contract) for another team’s overpaid malcontent?
  17. I think this may be our only saving grace. GMs across the league have seen players blow up once removed from the Sabres. Us fans even think they are grossly being mismanaged. Even Mitts is a 0.6 PPG player and still could see him improving.
  18. I’m fully ready to accept these kids just don’t care by the 3rd period. Ruff is a good coach. He’s definitely not incompetent, but I think he’s being handcuffed. He wasn’t allowed to hire his own assistants. But, it’s hard to completely divorce repeatedly giving up 3 goal leads from coaching.
  19. At this rate, I would be open to getting picks (or pucks) for him. It would be addition by subtraction. At this point, he is the player that is blocking. I won’t say that Cozens doesn’t have the heart, but there are better players that can take his place and we’ll get out of a horrible contract.
  20. This sounds like a “heart” or coaching issue. The Sabres’ skills don’t go down as the game progresses. Either their effort goes down or the opposing coaches make changes to neutralize them. I don’t think this is a conditioning issue as these are young players. They comes out excited and feel like they’ve done enough by the 2nd or 3rd period.
  21. I think this is their best chance of showing him off. If they kept him buried, there’s less of a chance someone will want him.
  22. This is why I was hoping for the Cozens for Kasper trade to materialize. Sure, it starting over with a younger player, but it’s sort of like a do over for the Cozens contract.
  23. The best we can hope for is if Jarmo would like to come (and put up with Terry). That said, he was the BJs GM for 11 years. And it took this long to see success. Maybe he learned something over the years.
  24. That’s usually the kiss of death. After seeing what happened to our other “can’t miss” younger players, I really can’t muster a lot of optimism for Kulich. He’s playing very well though.
