  1. It's just that by not categorizing a player as "good", you're insinuating he's not a good player or even a bad player. Nevertheless, potato, potato, Ehrhoff should be dealt at the deadline. Following what the Sabres are doing, we don't want good players, we want players who currently resemble good players and will be good players in the future, if that makes any sense.
  2. They may definitely give up a good player, we see this all the time. What they won't give up is a good player currently on their roster that could help them have success in the playoffs. That said, they will give up good players/prospects currently somewhere in their farm system. In terms of good players currently on a teams roster, I don't think this is what the Sabres covet, either now or in this coming offseason. They want young players that will make their splash 1-3 years from now.
  3. A lot of women also call me Big Stick. However, it has nothing to do with my last name.
  4. I agree, mostly, but simple math tells us we aren't going to see a huge number of 1st overall picks amongst the scoring leaders. There's only been 10 of them picked over the last 10 years. They're rare birds, so nothing much statistically can be said about them.
  5. Awesome. He should then fit perfectly into the Tank plans for next season.
  6. I highly doubt anyone knows this but Garth Snow. And even he probably doesn't know either. He has to see what position they get, what their draft board is, and how the draft is unfolding. Supposedly by a few picks before. And I'm just regurgitating something I read on here.
  7. So, if we are going to field a good team next year, one that we would be in the fight for a playoff spot, why would the Sabres ever want to trade Miller? For good or bad, he's a playoff-calibre GT and would be coveted by any playoff-hungry team with a GT hole (which we would be without him). That said, unless he's dead set on leaving via FA, if we want the Sabres to be fighting for a playoff spot, there's very little reason to trade him. Conversely, if he's traded, I expect a full on tank next season.
  8. The biggest question here should be: if we resigned Miller, does this mean tank is off for next year? I find it difficult to believe Miller would re-sign here if our plan is to install a non-competitive team next season.
  9. Yep. You said what you said. But, I really did enjoy reading it. Thanks for giving us a run down in what TM had to say.
  10. I would just love it if some sportswriter hack wrote an article with this as it's basis. In thought of something cool though. It would be great if teams could trade wins along with players. Say, if a bubble team wanted to make the playoffs, Sabres could send them 10 or so wins in exchange for players/picks. Both teams get a huge boost.
  11. Are there any rules against demoting most our team during the Olympic break, just so they don't become rejuvenated from the break and turn hot?
  12. People are very pleasant here. If you don't believe me, wander over to the misery of Two Bills Drive. Spend some time there and then come back.
  13. Probably not much. After all, who the hell wants to live closer to their wife?
  14. You know, say what you want about how horrible Darcy was and I'll agree, but this trade was pure genius. It's like the gift that keeps giving. In fact, I would even argue that Darcy, while he couldn't build a team if his life depended on it, was very competent in dismantling them. He's really set Murray up for success. Teams thinking about rebuilding should really look to hiring Darcy as a team-destruction specialist.
  15. I definitely appreciate tanking (the dishonor for Conner, don't save it for McDavid, etc), but we're going to have very good players coming up from the farm next season. I just don't think introducing them to the NHL via a tank job is a good thing in the long run. That said, the only good tank is with a team of veteran journeymen minus Miller, but I don't see that happening.
  16. Many people on here are saying the team should focus their efforts on the 2015 draft. Do we really want to do that? I mean, top draft picks usually take 1-2 years to develop, or sometimes longer. Do we really want our team to start becoming competitive in 2017-2018? Sure, there are no blockbusters like McD in this year's draft, but isn't that why we went out and got Murray and Patrick to help identify these lesser known players? I'm sure there are going to be some excellent players that develop out of the 2014 draft and we should focus on identifying and developing them. Plus, we're never going to get McDavid. Let's get it out of our heads. We're having trouble even tanking this year, it's not going to happen next year, especially if we have Zadorov, Risto, possibly Grigs, and a much better Girgs.
  17. Someone help me out. Why exactly is Colorado itching to dump a young promising player, who is the leading scorer on their team? Am I missing something?
  18. But there's still other players with all-world talent who are stinking it up (Omark). Is he likewise "not ready"?
  19. People would argue, and even you, that if you're a player in the AHL, for better for worse, you could probably play in the NHL. In a perfect world, Grigs should be in that group, in the AHL. I do agree with you in not playing him with horrible players. He won't grow. Play him on the 1st or 2nd line. Take a player, no matter how good, that had no future with the Sabres and replace him with Grigs. Plus, he won't be the only underachieving Sabre playing with boatloads of potential (see Omark).
  20. Ok, I'll bite. Exactly what is the difference between "not ready" and "not good"?
  21. The Sabres are in last place. Half the team is obviously isn't NHL ready. Plus, it seems as if last place is desired anyhow.
