  1. Glad the Sabres are playing the long game here.
  2. I’m sure there was an equal number of people on here saying the same thing about Tage last year. I’m not saying Mitts is going to take a miraculous 180, but I think it’s a bit too early to be closing the book on some of our young players.
  3. Praise Be.
  4. 36 goals. And being paid $10M per year for that shouldn’t be confused with mistreatment. Lastly, next year I think Jack, Stone, and Pac may be the only players on the team worth anything because they are going to need to shed some salary in order to get them all on the ice.
  5. Too much of a risk to purposely add good, but bad goaltending for next year. We are a playoff team with a decent goalie, nobody should expect anything less. Especially given neither Levi nor Portillo are guaranteed to sign nor even be NHL-level goalies. I want 1 vet goalie to give us a s% north of 0.910 and signed for at least 3 years. If either Levi or Portillo still think they are the *****, then they can come compete and try to win the job. If not, 3-4 years (what it will take for them to develop) is too long for this core.
  6. It’s a very hard thing to study as well. Under the assumption that the NHL parent club is a perennial playoff team, with most of their spots locked down by proven vets, their AHL team is likely going to have more talent. Teams like the Sabres have/had been a talent vacuum and Roch has been laid bare.
  7. I really hope Vinnie comes back next year. Very good bottom 6 winger.
  8. I’m going with some last minute boobie touching, then he signs for our last game.
  9. Vesey and even Fox came out and said they weren’t signing with the draft teams. As far as I know, Portillo hasn’t done this (yet).
  10. 2 PP goals? It’s like the Twlight Zone.
  11. With all due respect, it’s just not the same.
  12. Maybe Portillo has some good recommendations.
  13. Then there’s Silver Springs sung by Nicks, about Buckingham, with Buckingham singing backing vocals.
  14. We could’ve protected Toker instead. While this doesn’t protect Borgen, it puts Ulmark out there to entice/distract the Kraken.
  15. “For college NCAA players that have been drafted, NHL teams retain their rights until 30 days after the player has left college. A team that does not sign a first-round draft pick receives a compensatory pick in a future draft upon losing the rights to that player, determined on a case-by-case basis.” https://www.nhl.com/bluejackets/news/nhl-draft-101-rules-and-information/c-675546
  16. Agree. Hope we sign Levi or Portillo. Everyone will be better.
  17. You could. Doesn’t mean you had to. We could left all goalies exposed.
  18. Sort of. Shouldv’e left Ulmark exposed instead of Borgen.
  19. Excuse me, is this true? MBA’s are a graduate degree. I’m sure there are combined programs, but can’t see them being done in anything less than 5 years.
  20. I understand this. But it’s hard to ignore the data about handedness of defensemen. While playing off-hand is certainly possible, it’s doesn’t optimize the player’s strength. Why handicap a player if we don’t have to?
  21. The only thing I worried about with Johnson is not getting an asset back for him. He doesn’t really have a spot on the current team, nor will one likely open in the next 5 years (barring a long term injury). The other way we could accommodate him is if we traded Muel for a right-handed Muel. Not sure people have an appetite for that.
  22. If we don’t have the same goalie situation in Buffalo in the next 2 years, when these guys would be ready to step in, then there’s going to be a lot of teeth gnashing around here. And rightfully so.
  23. Is this guy playing pocket pool next to a grave at night?
