It’s just conjecture though. I don’t know if we know the exact reason.
-
But I think Petersen say the perceived risk of not getting any ice time. He saw Ulmark and UPL being in his way. And at that time, we really didn’t know what we had in either, but they both had a lot of promise. Of course, in hindsight, it was erroneous for him to think he wouldn’t get ice time. However, it worked out very well for him. Selfishly, I want both Portillo and Levi signed and we can sort it out later.
-
He really came on in the other half of the season. The piece of the puzzle here is whether Portillo (or even Levi) wants to sign. He may not. Or, he may be gunning for it. If he is, I don’t think you can spurn his wishes and tell him next year.
-
It probably would made more sense to them to Kucherov’d Eichel until they made the playoffs instead of Mark Stone.
-
Exactly what I was thinking. UPL can go back and compete for the Calder Cup after we’re done.
-
Is Mark Stone on LTIR for a legitimate reason? That’s contract looks like it’s going to be an anchor around their neck for sometime. Looks like Reilly Smith will be gone. Likely a couple more, depending on their contracts.

What does the Vegas cap situation look like for next year? Are they going to be forced to have a yard sale?
-
Nice. Vegas is trying to hold on to that last playoff spot. Let’s root for EDM.

All is forgiven. Cody Eakin is the greatest Sabre of all time

This is happening in a sport where it’s not a good idea to disclose an injury for fear players will deliberately target it to re-injure it. Or, where players who continue to punch a player when he’s already down on the ice. Unfortunately (or apparently), this is just part of the game. I guess it take a special person to play in the NHL. I’ll let the innocent neck roll pass. It’s innocent compared to the other crap that occurs. I just wish Eakin was a better player to back up antics like this. -
Sorry, I wasn’t clear. Slavkovsky. As for Wright, it appears he’s been on fire lately. He’ll be able to make a team next year.
-
That’s what got me thinking this. He’s already played with men and did fairly well. On the right team, we may be able to take the jump.

Ok. Let go into a time machine back to the 2018-2019 season. No Covid back then. The Sabres were 16tg in attendance. Right in the middle. Not sure that’s an attendance problem, especially watching the star of Eichel unfold. https://www.espn.com/nhl/attendance/_/year/2019 The year before? Sabres were 11th in the league https://www.espn.com/nhl/attendance/_/year/2018 There seems to be a lot of revisionism going on here. All we need to do is look at the official numbers, can’t argue with them -

It’s me’lady, to you. -

Is there anyone besides Wright that has a good shot of making an NHL team next year?
-
“Top-end” sounds like they are open to move some serious draft capital or even some significant player(s).

I think you’re having unrealistic expectations about this game. For better or worse, this game was made out to be about Jack coming back by multiple independent parties. The announcers couldn’t shut up about it. The Sabres made a video. Multiple media sites played it as such, including local media. And the fans cheered and booed as fans do. The fans were justified in having said reaction just as much as everyone else who made a big deal about this game. That said, and I’m sure you’d agree, Eichel could’ve handled the interview in a more graceful or good hearted manner, even while throwing plenty shade at the fans. -

I still would want a better back up for UPL. I think it’s in our best long-term interest to keep Levi and/or Portillo in Rochester, regardless of what emergency may be occurring on the Sabres bench. -

Of course, it would’ve negatively impacted his trade value. The team made the right decision there. -
Predict: who will sign with Buffalo first, Portillo or Levi?

This was the “emergency” podcast?

Apparently it’s a faux pas to refer to the country being invaded by Russia as “the Ukraine”. It’s just “Ukraine”. As it, “Russia has invaded Ukraine”.
