  1. How so? If anything, it’s a reminder to keep drafting them. They take forever to finally reach the NHL and if you miss on one, you’re in our current situation.
  2. But isn’t this an inherent part of the draft itself? Teams are drafting players because their pipeline needs players.
  3. How can this be “need” when everyone and their sister knows this kid won’t reach the Sabres for at least 4-5 years?
  4. Agreed. It’s a stunning thing to behold. I also feel if he also grew a mullet, he could fill the void Eakin is going to leave on the roster.
  5. I disagree. Not saying you’re wrong, but the Pegulas didn’t come into the conversation until the 1:32 mark. It was the question specifically about Kevyn which caused the tears to flow. He pulled himself together enough to mention the Pegulas at the end.
  6. That’s gender insensitive. It’s chest-feeding.
  7. Our defense played much better when Dahlin was playing his off-hand for the last 10 or so games. I don’t see why he shouldn’t be considered a RHD going forward. He put up 9 point in his last 10 games.
  8. If all 3 are in the NHL, then we really had a problem in developing what we already have. It likely means there were 3 failures already on the current roster. What KA is trying to produce is a logjam to get on the team. Right now we basically have a bare cupboard of prospects because most are already on the Sabres. The Amerks roster has been raided. We need to fill that hole back up. I hope Kulich plays for the Amerks for the next 3 years and we don’t need to call him up.
  9. I agree. I dug up this article earlier today. It’s a good read. While I don’t know if Portillo is going to walk, I don’t think leaving before graduation was ever an option for him. https://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-goalie-prospect-erik-portillo-stands-out-on-ice/ I’m not ready to write him off yet. Every article I read about him brings up his view of academics.
  10. Crap. In 4 years we’ll be wringing our hands over his pending free agency.
  11. So, where is this kid playing next year? Back to Winnipeg?
  12. And that stranger could very well be a KGB spy.
  13. We could’ve done that Husso deal, even if it ended up blowing up. 3 years is not a long time.
  14. Are we not allowed to have nice things?
  15. I’m sure one of us can dig up a quote from Portillo about him wanting to be a Sabre.
  16. What did the Flyers ever do to Putin?
  17. I’d send them a 3rd for Kane. Maybe could be talked into our 2nd. He’s a great player, but he’s a rental till proven otherwise.
  18. This is true. I was responding to the ability to sign MAF for 2 years at $10M per. Cap space isn’t the most important consideration we should we thinking about here.
  19. From a salary cap issue, it certainly wouldn’t handcuff them in coming years. That said, that “cap space” (unlike the NFL) is real money and would need to leave Terry’s checking account. He’s the one making the financial decisions, not KA.
  20. I think your making a mountain of an assumption here. Just because he was on a team that won a SC with scrub goalies certainly doesn’t mean he thinks this is the way to go. That’s like saying you can win a Super Bowl with a scrub QB just because Trent Dilfer won one. Is it possible to win a SC with scrub goalies? Absolutely. Is it likely? Absolutely not. Adams isn’t an idiot. Of course he knows the path is easier with stellar goaltending. Did he happen to trade for the best goalie in college hockey by accident?
  21. It’s been a few years, but there was a time UPL was thought of as the best amateur goalie prospect in the world. Then he has his hip surgeries and it’s been downhill since. Who knows what will become of Levi. I just hope JA can sign a 1B goalie for a 4-5 year contract. If either UPL or Levi think they have it in them, they will have opportunity to beat him out to become goalie 1A.
  22. The timing of this isn’t a coincidence.
  23. And take an 80-90% paycheck cut? I’d say thanks, but no thanks and shuffle back down to Florida.
  24. Good question. I know this was probably said in jest, but Congress are elected officials. They may have different rules. Their staff are definitely Federal employees.
