Sign and trade him for a gritty playoff experienced forward or top 4 defenseman. Better: Krebs is a gritty two-way center with good passing ability who doesn’t get enough chances with offensive skilled wingers.

Vegas center Chandler Stephenson is a UFA. Excellent face off man, 3 or 4 line two-way player who kills penalties.

They are good on paper. Just not on ice.

For old timers trading Peter McNabb to the Bruins for Andre Savard always bothered me. McNabb went on to have many productive years.

If they were picked up on waivers they would have to be kept on their NHL roster. If they trade for them, they can waive them down to their AHL team until they’re needed.
