  1. Our daughters earn money by doing various household chores, which they negotiated prices with myself and my wife...wife tried to lowball them on some things and they agrees(kids don't always know how much things are worth), so I told them to never accept the first offer and that they needed to negotiate a better deal for themselves. We haggled for a bit and came up with a price chart for things. There are chores available for them to do on a daily, semi-weekly and weekly basis and it's up to them to choose what they want to do, but they only earn money for the work they put in. Oldest usually earns about $30-35 a week and the youngest $15-20.
  2. Not faint praise and when you are the youngest team in hockey and also the highest scoring team in hockey even with some teams having 5 games in hand currently, it isn't undeserved.
  3. Really good article from Pierre LeBrun: https://theathletic.com/4058153/2023/01/05/tage-thompson-sabres-trade/
  4. Alanis Morissette would agree: I want you to know, that I am happy for you I wish nothing but the best for you both An older version of me Is she perverted like me? Would she go down on you in a theater? Does she speak eloquently And would she have your baby? I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother 'Cause the love that you gave that we made Wasn't able to make it enough for you To be open wide, no And every time you speak her name Does she know how you told me You'd hold me until you died 'Til you died, but you're still alive And I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know You seem very well, things look peaceful I'm not quite as well, I thought you should know Did you forget about me, Mr. Duplicity? I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner It was a slap in the face How quickly I was replaced And are you thinking of me when you ***** her? 'Cause the love that you gave that we made Wasn't able to make it enough for you To be open wide, no And every time you speak her name Does she know how you told me You'd hold me until you died 'Til you died, but you're still alive And I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know 'Cause the joke that you laid in the bed That was me and I'm not gonna fade As soon as you close your eyes, and you know it And every time I scratch my nails Down someone else's back I hope you feel it Well, can you feel it? Well I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know Well I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know
  5. Toronto Media doing their best:
  6. Hmm...you may not be wrong...stunning difference between numbers with Power on the ice versus him off the ice in terms of goals scored. The Verdict Simply put, Owen Power is having one of the better seasons we have ever seen from a defenseman his age in the NHL. While his point production may say otherwise, he is a defenseman who has been able to create offense in non-traditional ways. He plays the game in a selfless manner, always looking for ways to manipulate time and space to allow his teammate to create. It’s very easy to see why the Buffalo Sabres took him 1st overall in the 2021 NHL Draft as he is pretty much a coach’s dream on the blue line. Will he ever develop Rasmus Dahlin’s finishing ability? Probably not, he’s never really been a volume shooter. Will he ever play with the same flare as Rasmus Dahlin? Also, probably not. He really does not have to do either of these things to be an effective offensive defenseman and this season is showing that. Dahlin and Power are two players who attack the game in different but good ways. I do think there may be room for him to grow his point production as he becomes more confident with his individual skills in the offensive zone. Also, the fact that his team is scoring so much with him on the ice, he’s bound to pick up more points. However, his individual numbers have no bearing on whether or not he can be an effective offensive defenseman, as this season has illustrated. Think of him as a supercharger of offense on the backend of the ice. He will make the good offensive lines (especially rush-heavy lines) better as he generates time, space, and opportunity for them to make the magic happen on offense. He also makes the poor offensive lines viable offensively by giving them the puck under better conditions. He could be better on the defensive side of things, but that could be said of any 20-year-old defenseman in the NHL. That will improve in due time, making him an even bigger net positive presence when he is on the ice. https://thechargingbuffalo.com/2022/12/30/owen-power-the-secret-ingredient/ So Basically Dahlin is the guy who can carry the puck, go through the other team and make them look silly at times and Power is the guy who will draw forecheckers in while backing up and then send laser pinpoint passes to send the offense in on 3 on 2 breaks from his own end.
  7. I don't think anyone is putting a 100+ point player behind 3 other dudes...maybe Dahlin, but that is it.
  8. Uh...did you watch when he scored 4 goals in the first period against Columbus?
  9. Have you not seen Tuch or Girgensons over the last few games?
  10. Not even Eichel?? 😂 Kinda like Allen's 2020 season that would have won MVP in like 98% of the other seasons that just happened to be when Rodgers had one of the all-time greatest QB seasons.
  11. I think the move to center more than anything is what helped him. Granato is a freaking genius in some ways.
  12. Still needs to work on rebound control(see Caps 3rd goal), but his positioning and angles have been night and day from the beginning of the season...you would see him come out to cut off the angles and there would be half the net there to shoot at...almost like he didn't know where he was positioned in relation to where the net was once he got out too much. Not sure how they have corrected this, but it is very noticeable now...when they show those same angles with the player coming down he is giving up not much of anything net wise...amazing how something as small as that could be making such a huge difference
  13. In close, he has unbelievable stick control and ability to slow things down time-wise where the defender is attempting to make a frantic play and he simply pulls the puck away, waits for them and/or the goalie to go by him then buries the shot. Saw it in both the Boston and Washington game on goals, and almost saw it again where he beat like 3 dudes to the front of the net and was about to dipsy doodle and the defender made a saving poke check from behind. It's like he sees small spaces where he can put the puck that nobody else can get to and his stick length makes it so he can pull the puck away from the players and they can't reach it, except he does it all so fast in real time that it doesn't even look real at times.
  14. If I was the other team on the PK I would simply leave one guy dedicated to face-guarding Tage at all times and not let him set up the one timer.
  15. Mogilny scored 50 in 46 games played for the Sabres in 1992-93 but it isn't officially recognized by the NHL because the team had played 53 games at that point. He scored 76 goals in 77 games played that year, or 0.987 goals/game. Thompson isn't far off and the way he can score multiple goals in a game, he could reach that pace or even surpass it. https://icehockey.fandom.com/wiki/50_goals_in_50_games#:~:text=Unofficial 50 in 50 scorers,-The following players&text=Alexander Mogilny (1992–93),76 goals for the year.
  16. After the past 2 wins against perennial playoff teams Boston and Washington, the other teams players seem to know we are not far from being in that conversation... After the Bruin game, Marchand said something to the effect of the Sabres are not far off from going on a 6-7 year run with all the young, talented players they have there now. Read the quote after the game while reading the recap but can't seem to find it now, so I will paraphrase it.\ Then after last night's game against the Caps, Sabres getting plenty of praise...seems like other teams and players know we are on the cusp of being really good again and breaking through. https://russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2023/01/04/capitals-marvel-at-tage-thompsons-elite-ability-after-he-scores-hat-trick-overtime-game-winner-against-them/ The Capitals had nothing but praise for the young Sabres’ superstar, who Buffalo acquired in a trade in 2018 that sent Ryan O’Reilly to St. Louis. Multiple Capitals players had kudos to give the 26-year-old forward including TJ Oshie, who was on the ice for Thompson’s overtime-winner. “I think he’s kind of put himself up there with the elite group in the world as far as hockey goes,” Oshie claimed. “He keeps making plays like he has this year and he’s going to get a lot of points in this league. Tough guy to play against and he made us pay out there.” Caps forward Sonny Milano, who opened the scoring for the Capitals, is apparently no stranger to Thompson’s skillsets. The two were teammates on the United States national team during the 2018 IIHF Men’s World Championship. “I’ve known him for a while so I’ve kinda seen this coming for a while now,” Milano stated. “I’ve always said it, he’s obviously a super-talented player. He’s huge, he’s got great hands and that speed as well so I’m not too surprised.” Captain Alex Ovechkin even left a short comment on playing Thompson and his fellow teammates. “Yeah, obviously he’s big, strong, good puck mover you know? Has a great shot,” Ovechkin said. “(The Sabres) They’re young, they’re a talented group of guys out there. It was a fun game.” Capitals’ head coach Peter Laviolette noted that it took some time for the Caps to adjust to the speed of Thompson and his fellow teammates. “We’re playing a team that’s young and fast and is dynamic offensively, you know? They’re the top-scoring team in the league and it showed,” Laviolette stated.
  17. Sabres still have not lost in Regulation when leading after 3 periods...their last 2 wins have come after the other team ties and takes the lead in the 3rd and then we rally to win. Good to see from this team...they never give up and just keep playing.
  18. It's almost like the light switch flipped on for him after the first 5 or 6 games...he has been playing very well lately. They got a 5 on 3 to close out regulation.
  19. The time of the goal? Exactly 3 minutes into OT. Got chills up and down my spine from realizing that...
  20. This is ridiculous...they can't skate with us so they are just taking every other liberty to try and slow us down.
  21. My goodness...Caps are just blatantly taking out Sabres left and right and they finally get a call at the end...then Skinner gets tripped and nothing.
