He has shown the only time he really plays well is when he has to fight for something, so this is actually the exact situation he does well in based on previous history. It's when they give him the unquestioned starter's role next year again that he will struggle badly as per usual (if they do).

Pittsburgh is one of those weird teams the Sabres usually either play really well against and win or really bad against and lose. I don't recall very many "OK" games recently against them.

If I remember, he is always a guy that gives the Sabres fits and scores against them or at least causes goals to be scored against them.

Often hear people who are great at pickup basketball say they could take NBA players who are bench players that never play, but then get absolutely crushed by them in a "no-contest" type way when they get a chance to play them. That reminded me of Malenstyn scoring on that play...while there are probably a lot of people that think they are way better players and scorers in their leagues than someone like Malenstyn who is a 4th line player, the truth is he would dominate them and their league and score at will, like 5-10 goals a game any game he wanted. The difference in offensive skill between the best "pickup" hockey players and NHL 4th liners is still night and day and I think we forget that sometimes.

Levi needs to show he can stay consistent. One game he looks good, the next he gives up 6 goals on 20 shots and looks terrible.

why are they not giving him things like the bodybuilders used to gain weight like pineapple juice mixed with heavy cream? Or something similar in terms of weight gainer shakes? This seems like it should be easily preventable...just because you are on liquids, doesn't mean that they have to be devoid of caloric content these days. IMO, this is a terrible job by the nutrition team.

The problem I have is that UPL is just not mentally focused or prepared properly on a day-to-day basis and he really never has been outside of when he had to fight to make the Sabres roster or fight to earn a new contract. Things like that are far harder to change than improving skills. He would have to admit to himself that he is failing himself and most people's egos will never allow that to happen, they will blame someone or something else.
