I definitely agree that Kylo lacks menace. However, I love him to pieces as a villain. Utterly compelling. He's far and away the most interesting Star Wars villain from any of the movies.

Right. I think the team is best off when that's the case. At least while nobody else is scoring, anyway. I think Kane's value to the team is higher if he's putting in 20-25 goals on his own line than if he's putting in 25-30 with Eichel. I get the logic of "why break up the only line that's scoring" which I expect to be the rebuttal. My response would be the idea is to produce two lines that may individually produce less than the Kane-Eichel combo, but together, would produce more. Trying to create match up problems for the other team and whatnot Besides, it's not like trying something else is going to ruin the team's electric offense :lol:

What crowd? The crowd that says Kane is having a better season than O'Reilly? I couldn't imagine anyone challenging that assertion. But arguing Kane is a better player, in my view, remains hogwash. O'Reilly was far better than Kane the previous two season, and I'd argue the previous several before arriving in Buffalo. I'm not one to let this season erase that. Greater than 0? Sure. But I don't think the chances of that are more than 10%.

What vaunted leaders did the Leafs hang onto to teach their kids the way? JVR? Kadri? Bozak? Leadership is overrated.

Beaulieu is better than Gorges and is a decent 3rd pairing player. Problem is he's been spending a lot of time above the 3rd pair and with prime PP minutes, where all of his gaffes are magnified 10x.

Swap Rodrigues and Josefson and I'm actually reasonably happy with the lines. In fact, that is the only thing that I don't see any logical explanation for.

Kane has certainly been the better player this season, but I'm not sure we should discard the previous two where O'Reilly was clearly superior. And 100% agreed on Reinhart. Had he developed into a true #2C, the conversation may be different. Though in that scenario, O'Reilly on the wing would be dreamy. Ultimately, I don't think we have to choose between Kane and O'Reilly for monetary reasons. Which could better be used in a trade to build the team is an interesting question, however.

I find it unlikely a third line center and top-4 Dman combined take up meaningfully less cap space than O'Reilly. And who is our 2C in your scenario? I don't think weakening the team down the middle is the right move.

Disagree on hands. He could carve out a nice depth role if he were fleeter of foot. Obviously, hands would be needed for a bigger role than that.
