  1. Having won the lottery, this is apples to oranges. Murray was never faced with a defense v. forward decision where the defenseman was rated as far and away superior to the forward as is the case with Dahlin.
  2. This is like when some people said Eichel could go ahead of McDavid because his inch of height and 10 pounds of weight were better for the NHL.
  3. We can go back to complaining about Josh Allen if you'd like ;)
  4. I remember some stuff that Hunter had passed Dubas internally as the successor. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
  5. :w00t: :worthy:
  6. No. He's an NHL 4 for about 20 games, and an NHL 6 for about 20, and an NHL 7 for the other 20. Bogosian being hurt all year has made people forget how bad he actually is.
  7. Jeremy White said this morning he was told it was Mayfield.
  8. We've is dead inside and can't bring himself to get excited about anything until it's proven on NHL ice.
  9. I'm taking a break from writing (see: procrastinating), so I perused every roster. The only viable situation I see is Washington.
  10. I don't know about that one. We're going to have $18 million in cap space this year to work with. Even if you use, say, 7.5 of that on Carlson, that's a lot of money left over. We're getting a couple defensemen on ELCs to fill roster space, plus Mittelstadt and I'm sure at least a couple of the Rochester kids as depth pieces among forwards. Johnson and Lehner took up $6.5 million this year...next year it'll be Ullmark and somebody else for probably half that. Then next year we have Moulson and Pominville off the books. It's definitely doable, I think. Like Flagg, I think it's an interesting discussion on which piece to move out. Realistically, I think we could lure Carlson here with money; I don't think the same could be said for Tavares.
  11. Trade Risto for forward help and sign Carlson. Add Mittelstadt and you have a nearly instant rebuild.
  12. You could probably talk me into McDavid/Draisaitl, but I wouldn't just reflexively take it. Eichel/Dahlin is absolutely the best forward/defense foundation in the league. I really don't even think Kucherov/Sergachev comes close. One thing is for sure: I'll be watching a lot more hockey next season than I did this one.
  13. Agreed. We have so much more flexibility to fill out the roster now. So excited.
  14. Good point, I had forgotten about that. I basically combine McBeane into one person.
  15. Yea, I think it's one of those spots where I like Zadina a hair more on a vacuum, but it's close enough I'd consider position.
  16. Of course, the other guy also bailed them out in a way McCarron won't be able to. It'll probably be a wash.
  17. Of course, the wisdom in "getting your guys" has been shown to be highly suspect when it involves giving up significant draft capital. Specific players aside, this is the second year in a row I haven't cared for Beane using mid-round picks to trade up.
  18. They're just building in excuses for his failure :p
  19. Pffft. What more could they do to us? We've already weathered all they have to offer. Bring it on!
  20. The hockey gods can suck it. I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU!
  21. It's almost as if the whole "keep politics out of sports" blowback against Kaepernick didn't actually have anything to do with politics in sports...
