  1. That's how I feel about the prospect of watching Risto flail around against the best players in the league for 27 minutes per game.
  2. I want Risto to be on the 2nd pair. I think it's where he probably belongs.
  3. We have to play the Patriots in prime time? WHY? WWWWHHHHYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!!?
  4. I really don't understand how you can tag Jackson with the athlete/not-a-QB tag but not Allen.
  5. Such is the eternal struggle between whether a mock draft should be what you think the team will do, or what you think the team should do.
  6. Death, taxes, and bad Philadelphia goaltending.
  7. If the lens is who ends up being left at the end, then it's really just one team distorting perceptions: the Pats. There's a lot of turnover all around them. I don't think that really shows any systemic problem in the NFL. *shrug* To each their own. If you don't enjoy it, you're certainly entitled to that :)
  8. 2017 AFC NFC New England Philadelphia Pittsburgh Minnesota Jacksonville Los Angeles Kansas City New Orleans Tennessee Carolina Buffalo Atlanta 2016 AFC NFC New England Dallas Kansas City Atlanta Pittsburgh Seattle Houston Green Bay Oakland New York Miami Detroit 2015 AFC NFC Denver Carolina New England Arizona Cincinnati Minnesota Houston Washington Kansas City Green Bay Pittsburgh Seattle 2015-2016 the AFC had 2 new teams and the NFC had 4 new teams. 2016-2017 the AFC had 3 new teams and the NFC had 5. Edit: Tellin' ya, a few QBs/teams have completely distorted perceptions.
  9. See, the same teams don't make the playoffs time and time again. There's a core of like 3-4 that do, but there's a ton of parity around that core group. The only true constants have been the Patriots, Steelers, Packers, and whatever team Peyton Manning is playing for. Which brings me to my follow-up point: football isn't even close to a 1-position sport. The things that Brady/Rodgers/Manning can cover up for are significant, but are in no way representative of what a tier down (Ryan, Stafford, Rivers, etc.) can cover up for. I still feel like watching three of the best QBs of all time play at the same time has poisoned our expectation of what a "normal" franchise QB can do for a team. Even Brees, who has a one-way ticket to the HoF, has regularly missed the playoffs and lost early when making it.
  10. Stop feeding the troll you hosers!
  11. Absolutely. Having it so late is just terrible.
  12. I think I'd be okay taking Boqvist or Hughes over Zadina/Tkachuk, but I'm definitely taking Svechnikov if he's there when we pick (assuming we don't luck into Dahlin).
  13. It's hard for me to verbalize just how much I hate you :p
  14. FWIW, I never thought he shot all the time out of selfishness, though I acknowledge plenty of others did.
  15. I think Alkoholist and Gramps are the only ones who actually disagree with this. I think me, Eleven, and a few others are just arguing Tyrod remains under appreciated.
  16. If you find yourself longing for Marcus Foligno, you may need to take a step back and do some personal reflection. And let's not pretend he was suddenly some passer. He still loved his low percentage shots into the goalie's crest.
  17. In no way, shape, or form, would I have been happy not trying to upgrade Taylor. I wanted to draft a successor at 10 last year. He's not the answer. But he's not Blaine Gabbert either just because he doesn't throw for 4500 yards. He is. Frankly, I think you'd be hard pressed to make a non-stylistic argument that he isn't. Edit: I just think people hate the degree to which he's not a prototypical dropback passer so much that it's clouding the analysis of his play, and he's getting dumped on overly harshly. Sort of like how Evander Kane's particular on-ice shortcomings drove me absolutely up a wall to the point I was probably harsher on him than was fully justified.
  18. Who cares? He's a capable NFL quarterback. That's what matters. That McDermott is offensively clueless and/or hired a woefully inept OC doesn't really change that.
  19. 13.1 miles. I have full confidence you could do it in...1 day :p
  20. Finished my first half marathon in 2 hours 1 minute and 57 seconds. Just off my 2 hour mini goal, but with the semester I wasn't able to stick to the training schedule I had (ran 2 days per week on average, instead of 3). But I feel pretty good.
  21. This ROR angst is the perfect example of blaming a player for a team's failings. It's insanity. There might be a viable hockey trade to be made (Eleven's Klingberg trade, for example). I don't think anyone disputes that. But what O'Reilly brings is bring criminally undervalued because the team sucks and he had the audacity to say being on a losing team sucks. Edit: Furthermore, if Mittelstadt supplants him in a year or two at center, then boo boo we're stuck with a 65 point first-line winger who can seamlessly play center if injuries demand it.
  22. Can we stop assuming there was a roster player trade to be made if only Botterill would have moved Kane sooner? Hey may have mismanaged the whole thing, but given Kane's trade value around the leave was reported to be zero in the offseason, I don't think it's safe to assume there was a huge shift in that value based on one month of hockey. Of course, what We've is envisioning may not have ever been an option.
  23. Don't forget, they could have just exposed Bjugstad to protect Marchesssult. So really, it was two catastrophic decisions rolled into one. Dale Tallon, Stanley Cup GM, everybody! Never forget: sometimes teams win in spite of their GM, not because of him.
