  1. Really? I'm legitimately surprised. Wilson has another 10 years to catch up.
  2. Claude Lemiuex was considerably better at playing hockey, though. .65 points per game for his career while Wilson sits at .27.
  3. Sure you can. They just have to be good enough, and ours haven't been.
  4. I'd prefer someone who isn't a cheap shot artist, personally.
  5. Reading. It's hard. :bag:
  6. If the PA really wants to fight back they'll just organize and have one player on each team kneel, offsetting the penalties. I'm so happy he's gone.
  7. "There's no such thing as bad publicity."
  8. I think Deadspin has gone downhill over time. They started out as smart alternative takes and have devolved into being contrarian just for the sake of it coupled with what amounts to various message board rants. Meh.
  9. I didn't think Kane was worth this kind of contract when he was here, and I still don't. Glad some other team did it, and happy we get the 1st round pick (late as it's likely to be) out of it.
  10. Crosby is 6th all time in points per game. Playing in this era. If he's not generational, I don't know what the term even means. I would put "elite" a notch below "franchise" but clearly above top pair / 1st line.
  11. Of course you love him, you're comparing him to the likes of Harrington and Bucky :p Other Athletic markets have gotten considerably better writers than Vogl, in my opinion.
  12. Vogl is okay, but I'm hoping for better from The Athletic.
  13. Anaheim was not screwed for building a deep blue line. They were screwed because they thought giving an obviously decrepit Bieksa a NMC was a good idea.
  14. I mostly agree with this, though I think some of it is due to age. RJ used to call a great game, separate from the histrionics. He doesn't anymore. I can barely tell what's going on half the time on the radio these days. Separately, I'm definitely not feeling the Hamilton love. To me, his play by play is like a student's paper that says a lot without actually saying much at all. I think he tries to get in all these little details, doesn't give the game room to breath, and I have no clue what's really happening. I find his goal calls incredibly forced, as well.
  15. Travis Yost‏Verified account @travisyost May 17More Vegas forward group last night: Trade-Trade-Trade Trade-Trade-Draft Trade-Draft-Waivers Draft-Draft-Trade I understand that some of those trades were made due to the expansion draft rules...however, the rules didn't dictate the content of those trades. Some other GMs made some really bad decisions when evaluating their own players. Vegas easily could have been pathetic this year if other GMs (I'm looking at you, Dale Tallon) didn't giftwrap top-line players for them. Edit: I'm offering a mulligan on the William Karlsson thing. There was simply nothing in his entire career to indicate he'd be a 1st line center on a contender.
  16. No reason to overthink it, it's just another celebrity fetish. Is it really any more bizarre than the Kardashians? Besides, it's not like the current royals are exactly representative of those we rebelled against.
  17. Hellebuyck sure picked a bad time to regress towards the mean.
  18. I've learned not to doubt Steve Yzerman. He's been a freaking wizard with the cap.
  19. Nah. With an average marriage length of around 3 years, you can easily be married and young about 4 times :p
  20. I would, and I don't think it necessitates moving ROR. We're likely to be saving money in goal the next few years, Mittelstadt and Dahlin are cheap, Sam is likely to bridge, and we have huge money coming off the books (Moulson, Pominville, and Bogosian) before Mittelstadt and Dahlin need new contracts. I think we'll be fine.
  21. He's the exact piece Carolina needs to take the next step. But I think they have less of a chance than us. They're not a hockey market, and I can't imagine he goes from one show of an ownership situation to another.
  22. I'd prefer him on Eichel's wing, but yea, this.
  23. Oh, I forgot to add to my previous post another option for the cap space: keep it. Cap space is an asset in and of itself. Use it to absorb a bad contract in a trade or to retain salary while shipping someone out.
  24. Tavares (obviously), and Carlson *only if he can be signed to a reasonable contract* (which he probably can't). Aside from those two (maybe de Haan, but I'd have to be convinced), the top of the UFA heap is putrid. Give me depth on short contracts. Kyle Brodziak, Matt Calvert, Michael Grabner, and Patrick Maroon are a few names that come to mind.
