  1. Again, I get that argument. Mine is...we're getting these matchups and it's gonna be great. I really don't care they're coming a round earlier than you would like.
  2. Sure they do. Name a goalie that has won a Cup, and I'll find you some poor playoff performances that cost their team.
  3. Maybe they don't develop properly because Murray rushes them to the NHL? That's particularly true in Montour's case. My point was more general, however. We haven't drafted or developed much of anything of true significance in close to a decade. Hindsight is 20/20. There's no real reason to believe that, at the time, we'd have made the right picks if we had simply gone for defensemen instead of forwards.
  4. Well heavens, we know that scouts have never been wrong about QBs before. I can't remember who on WGR referred to Allen as "scouting catnip" but that is the single best description I have ever heard. It's easy to see why scouts like him, and it's also easy to see why those scouts are cherry-picking and setting themselves up for a bust.
  5. This is the perfect time to be a reporter. You can't lose. You're either right and can puff up (justified or not) the quality of your sourcing, or you're wrong and can shrug it off as misinformation and nobody knew anything for real.
  6. Think it's bad now? Just wait until he completes his first pass to a hospitality tent.
  7. Nothing is reliable right now. So as they say, when in Rome... I dunno. Part of the Watkins trade was getting Gaines, who is always hurt. They traded for Benjamin who has an injury history. More strikes against Josh Allen: he apparently called wings "Buffalo wings" and is coming onto the draft stage to Bon Jovi. Stay away! Stay far away!
  8. *dumps kerosene on fire* Charlie Campbellā€ @DraftCampbell 4m4 minutes agoMore Draft Buzz I'm hearing: - Lamar Jackson not in the running for the Bills - Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Mayfield is order for Bills - Other players the Bills like at pick 22 - Giants ownership wants a QB - Jaire Alexander, Martinas Rankin have injury concerns
  9. Auston Matthews is not the first, nor will he be the last, offensive star that Patrice Bergeron just completely erases.
  10. I wonder if the Caps would be looking to move Holtby as a cap dump as a way to free up space to retain Carlson. I'd much rather just add Carlson than helping the Caps retain him, of course, but if they're going to find a way to retain him anyway, I wouldn't hate having Holtby to lean on while Ullmark continues to develop. I sure hope not. It was three games. Three atrocious games, yes, but still only three. For a goalie, no less. If this enters Botterill's thought process, then he's not as sharp as I'm hoping he is.
  11. You. You're an instigator. I will not take the bait! :p
  12. I know the NHL playoff seeding system has gotten a ton of flack, but it's hard for me to see anyone being upset with these round 2 matchups. We should have some fantastic hockey every single night.
  13. What's the most "because Buffalo" thing that could happen? We mortgage everything for a guy who busts, while Watson and Mahomes go on to be stars?
  14. If it's actively depressing you, just unplug until the draft :) I'm actually having fun with all of the fever-pitch speculation. Nobody knows a damn thing, and it's fun.
  15. I dunno, I feel like if we botch this whole thing that we're going to be pretty bad for a couple of years
  16. This is true, but we haven't developed much of anything in recent years, so I don't think it would have mattered anyway.
  17. The chances are close enough that I feel comfortable throwing caution to the wind and expecting a top-3 selection. As the saying goes, stats are for losers! :D
  18. In this case, distinction without a difference :) If it's true we haven't even spoken to Jackson, we're not taking him. We should. But we won't. Keep in mind, I'm not advocating for it, just reading the tea leaves and inferring from past actions, I can easily see Rudolph as their kind of guy. Three year starter, stands in the pocket, probably says process a lot. And so on. Rudolph is a 2nd round prospect who is going to go in the 1st. If we can't trade up, I expect it'll be us. The comparison that keeps coming to my mind is Andy Dalton. Granted, Dalton was appropriately picked in the 2nd round. But still, that's the type of player I see Rudolph being. I agree, and that annoys me more than a little bit. Being hopelessly old school can work, but man is that the opposite of what I want my team to be.
  19. He should be there at 22, but might not be. Just like desperation may drive us to take him at 12, if we don't, I could easily see Arizona being desperate enough to do it at 15.
  20. Part of me thinks anyone other than Darnold #1 kinda screws us. I know Barkley is all the talk, but that also all emerged while people were thinking Darnold was going to Cleveland. If Darnold is there at #2, I think the Giants take him. Jets settle on Rosen or Mayfield, whichever is left, leaving us with Allen/Jackson/Rudolph. That scenario plays out for any non-Darnold QB at 1. Personally, I'm gearing up for us taking Rudolph at 12 and being incredibly sad about it.
  21. I hope they're right. I really like Baker and want to be able to cheer for him. Couldn't do that if he landed with the Jets. The Browns? Sure, I can root for him there.
  22. Yea, I have no idea where Kypreos is coming from there. Matthews played a whopping 2 fewer seconds in game 7 than his regular season average. Should Babcock give him more ice time in genreal? Yea, I definitely think so, but his usage was precisely what we'd have expected to see given the rest of the season.
  23. My bracket would have looked a heck of a lot better if Toronto had won. And I honestly don't remember picking Anaheim. I don't think it was an accident, I just have no idea what my reasoning was. I'm in a bracket contest with my family, and I always make them identical, and in that one I picked San Jose. *shrug*
  24. They were 0-16. And they're the Browns. They could use every pick in every round and still might need all of next year's draft before they stumble onto the right players.
