Sabres Fan in NS replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Any time that any team plays the team that is by far the best team in the league in their building comes out of it with a tie, they must have been doing a lot of things right. That, or the other team was just playing with them. Maybe a bit of both. I think the ratio last night was probably around 80 / 20. -
Botterill backs coaches, cites "progress"

You are asking the wrong person. I just read and observe the board. -
No, not exactly. Not sure when / if. These and Josie are the most recent of long-term contributors that I recall. Losing has contributed to the negativity around here and that is part of the reason for some departures, but not that main reason for others. I hope if they are listening ... we all miss you very much.

Well, he is breathing down Kanesie's neck for the consolation prize at present. He will be paid a lot, but I still say he is not asking for $9M. He knows that he is not worth that and I really believe that he wants to stay in Buffalo. He knows that the Sabres will not pay $9M.

Scott Cullen retweeted this take about old time hockey

I do like to watch Skinny skate. That's pretty close. Freddie used to say that his role in Queen was to bring ballet to the masses (only half jokingly). I think he pretty much succeeded, so why not hockey ballet? -
I am not expecting much. We can't expect to trade our garbage for much of anything at the deadline. I expect any significant Sabre trades will be made in the offseason.
-
Jeff Skinner and his new contract with the Sabres will be fine. I do not believe that Skinner is asking for $9M.

I am certain that Inky did not want to stir up all this stuff when he started this thread. Anyway, I am actually very pleasantly (that means goodly) surprised by the play of an 18 year old kid in his first NHL season. I expected very good and I think he has been better than very good. Sure, mistakes have been made, but he is extremely sound fundamentally.

I think he is / was in timeout for a while. +++++ JBOT is not wrong. There certainly has been progress and a lot of it. The problem is that the Sabres went on that 10 game win streak and everyone thought they had really turned a corner. Someone posted here (sorry, I can't remember who) that it would have been better had the 10 wins had been more spread out and not in a row. If they had been we would all feel better about the progress made this season. I agree with that. I think is is the correct move not to fire the HC at this point. -
There are a number of good candidates at first glance. My wife has been following much more closely than I. The Dems have to figure out which candidate has the best chance of winning back just enough of the key Trump votes in those few key areas of States he won last time. If he runs, I expect he will, that is most likely to be Biden. He is widely liked by both sides. Biden / Harris ticket? Maybe.

Canada's Watergate
Sabres Fan in NS replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
This Club is like the Godfather ... you keep dragging me back in. Just kidding. I would join the club on a regular basis, but I feel that I would spend too much time in it. Trudeau is not the darling of the left in Canada and the left in the US should not look to him as a role model, unless they are looking to emulate someone who just tests the wind and then goes with whatever is most popular / adventageous at that time. He definitely is NOT his father. He is the golden child of the youth of Canada. He does back the pipeline and has said that he would spend federal $ to have it built. He, obviously, is trying to appease what little support he has in the West, which is none in Alberta, but fairly strong in BC, where the majority also support the pipeline, IIRC. Thank goodness you folks south of the boarder have come to their senses about it. The pipeline is a terrible idea, unless you are in Alberta. Thank goodness their left-wing (NDP) Premier has stood her ground against it, although she prefers now to transport this terrible grade oil by rail instead, which is a disaster waiting to happen. There is an election coming pretty soon in Alberta and their one-time experiment with an NDP government certainly appears to be a one-off. Our illustrious PM was in Halifax for a vigil for the 7 victims of that horrible fire here a few days ago. He never misses a photo-op, but it was good foe him to come and show support. The whole city, province and county is reeling. -

Not only that, but he will certainly come to appreciate puck drop time as he ages. +++++ I expect a huge win tonight. MUST WIN!! GO SABRES!! -
When I just saw the thread title in the next unread topic area I was hoping that it was stated by one of dark, X, or Randall.

If I'm JBOT I'd put in a claim. If for no other reason than to try to get our guys going.

Sent you a beer.

Can we just throw the bum out already?

I think he could be loured (he, oh @Weave) back for another year, or two. He is a very young 47 though, eh.
-
50, or so, replies to a joke thread by that big joker. It actually seems that most of you took it seriously.

If I were JBOT I would sign Jagr right now. He should have done it last summer, IMO.
-
I like JBOT and think he doing a good job. I understand that fans patience is wearing very thin, at least, and we are ready to riot, at worst. Not picking on you @Samson's Flow, as you know I am a big fan of all the flows ... ? ... as I have seen it mentioned by others ... to give any credit to JBOT for landing Dahlin is, at best, a stretch. If anything I could understand more if we as fans would want to be critical of the way he ran the team last year, which lead Dahlin to us having 'luck' in the lotto.

I respectfully disagree with your disagreement here. I believe that good veteran mentoring is one of the major things missing from the Sabre roster. Pominville is not enough.

Thanks. The whole city and Province has really come together over this tragic and horrific event, not just the Muslim Community. These kinds of things are like that. I hope it lasts. The father is not good. The mother is basically unhurt physically, but can't deal with this very well at all, which is understandable. I can't even imagine. You leave a war torn country and now this. There was a vigil at the home last night and a group of 20 are with the mother at the hospital. They have been allowed to stay and are there in shifts. Everyone is pretty numb now.
