That is terrible and stressful. We are carrying both houses for as little time as possible, which is scary enough, but we are extremely fortunate to not have a mortgage on our first home. I hope it all works out for you.

+++++ In other news, not really NHL related, but what the heck, eh? The Mooseheads are playing in the Q final, so both teams will be going to the Memorial Cup no matter who wins it. Halifax is hosting the Memorial Cup this May and The Huskies will have an automatic birth even if they lose the final to Halifax. A true win - win situation if there ever were one. GO MOOSEHEADS!! +++++ In other, other news ... Ramadan is starting in 6, or 7, days depending on the sighting of the moon. Bump ... The Canadian Premier League kicked off today with the Halifax Wanderers playing in Victoria, I think. Halifax home opener is next weekend, I think. It's sold out. They role out a 1,000 seat bleacher thing on The Wandering Grounds and play football in front of it. People here are actually excited about this, which is great. For the first time in what seems like forever we slept well and woke without knowing we had to deal with this, or that, some deadline, or other. The sweet sleep of victory, not that this was especially adversarial. I really believe that if we could have met the sellers at the house over coffee we would have had a deal in place on a handshake in about half an hour. I often think that realtors are around to just muddy the waters and get paid a whole lot of $ to do nothing atol, but make problems. Fortunately, in our case calmer heads prevailed. Our inspector found a suspected leak at the seam of the septic tank. Fortunately, it is believed to be slow and at the seam, which means none of the real yucky stuff would leak out. So, no real risk of soil contamination. We just submitted a final amendment after a week of calls and asking and people going on site to split the cost of a septic tank replacement 50/50. The work to be done by our contractors after closing. That is a bit risky, but after talking with many, many pros we feel comfortable with it. The seller has until 5:00 PM tomorrow Halifax time (they are in Germany) to sign the amendment, counter, or not sign it. If they counter we have advice from our lawyer as to want adjustments would be acceptable. If they do not sign it and agree to the split and terms of replacement we have the right to kill the deal. My wife and I have decided that we have too much invested already (both time and $) to kill the deal at this point. The realtors really made it more complicated than it needed to be with the sellers agent's septic guy (not the sellers themselves, mind you) said that it could be repaired. He is the only one in the whole province that thought a repair would work and he was proposing to do it from the outside of the tank, which would never work. Anyway, on a half million dollar deal (boy is that scary when you type it out) we are all going to be surprised if the seller does not sign the amendment. Not at this point and not over $2,500. Now I actually have some serious tax work to get to ... ha, ha!!
