  1. Anybody watching the Raptors parade? I think today was declared a National Holiday by the leader of The Great Satan.
  2. Fantastic!! Good thing you have 1 regular car and on Dinkie Toy car ... (insert winkie-winkie thingie here ...)
  3. This discussion is pointless. I hate wars. @PASabreFan, maybe I'm wrong, but the last time that I recall that the vast majority of 18 and 19 year old kids were fighting a war was Vietnam. And the vast majority of them were drafted. I think it is criminal for a society to send kids, including those that are 18, or 19, to fight a war. People think of child soldiers as under 10, or something. I don't think that way.
  4. Since this thing is still open ... Moved a bunch of stuff with a friend and a Uhaul on Tuesday. Pros moved more heavy stuff yesterday. This weekend will be crazy with finalizing a set up at the new house, so my wife can fine tune things there with organization ... we both hate moving and the worst part is when you get your stuff to the new place. but its just piled everywhere. Monday the fix up the old house projects start. We both have very mixed feelings about this whole thing, especially my wife who is really struggling with it. In the end we shall see what happens. We may end up deciding to stay in the old house once it is fine tuned. We really do like the location and neighbourhood. The new location is spectacular and has a number of advantages that we have been looking for a long time. Wish us luck.
  5. Hospital? What have I missed? I hope that all is well.
  6. Toronto is a small market team mostly because the NBA does not really care about them (until now), but mostly the players don't care about it. Do you think LeBron ever would have chosen to go to Toronto? Do you think that Kahwi would have signed in Toronto (I think he does sign there now ... max / max)? Do you think he would have demanded a trade to Toronto.
  7. Correct. But, as someone pointed out up thread ... if he was not there in the regular season the Blues would not have made the playoff.
  8. I think that he will play most, if not all, of the season in Buffalo. Unless, of course, something really changes with the roster in the mean time.
  9. Overall the Raptors were the better team. And not only in this series. The only scary point was in round two when the stubborn 76'ers refused to go away. That Kawhi buzzer beater in game 7 was magic. The Raptors were excellent in every aspect of the game, especially in the conference final and then the final final.
  10. Gave you a thumbs up thingie for the not trading Risto part. I tend to think we should keep #7 in a pretty deep draft. The chances are pretty good that we will get a good NHL player at #7.
  11. Side note ... I wonder if the Raptors will be invited to the White House? If so, will they accept? Will they be invited to Parliament? I say yes and they will go. The whole country really put aside whatever differences the different areas of the country may have and adopted the Raptors. It really wasn't a Toronto only thing with 'Jurassic Park(s)' springing up everywhere. MLSE officially sponsored one here in downtown Halifax, which was jammed for every game. Thousands attended. I'm way too old for that kind of stuff.
  12. This is the season that he will get a real chance to show his stuff in Buffalo. I say that he is on the opening night roster and playing, not scratched.
  13. From what I have seen of him ... highlights and talking heads talking ... I think Lowry is right on when he said that he feels Kawhi is the best 2 way player in the NBA. I wonder if he will stay in Toronto? He will be offered max contracts by many teams, including Toronto, but my understanding is that Toronto is the only team that can offer the extra (4th, I think) year, which means countless more millions. I think he will sign in Toronto and try to go back-to-back. I wonder were KD will be playing next season. He should be back in game shape for the playoffs. In his limited time in game 5 I think he set the tone for the GS win.
  14. Your Honour, if it pleases the court; the defense presents exhibit A ... the 2018/19 St. Louis Blues. Your honour, the defense rests.
  15. Many seem to grade the GM based on this one seemingly bad (time will tell, but right now it looks bad) trade. A trade that I have no doubt that the GM did not want to make, but felt he had no choice. Maybe he was not given a choice by the owners, my guess is that is not the case. I really think that ROR's openness at the end of the season lead to his departure. Let's take a quick look at the other trades of note: Skinner ... and then re-signing him to a market value contract. Check. Montour ... solid D, probably top pairing, or #3 on a good Sabre team. Check. I think those two offset the ROR trade. What is paramount this offseason is that Bottsie find a real 2C, either by trade, or FA. I have no idea who / how. The Sabres are not that far off.
  16. Thanks, but I'm not really a fan of the team, or the NBA, but am just glad that an underdog from a small(?) market city won it. I am happy if that happens in any sport, really, especially when an unexpected (not sure if the Raptors winning was all that unexpected) team beats out the defending champs. @Hoss, now he is a real fan and must be very happy.
  17. I must have missed that in the highlight reel.
  18. I thought that might be the case. Anyway, no biggie. The Blues were really something back then. An expansion team getting to the finals their first 3 seasons. Talk about the powers that be not wanting them to win it back then, especially against 2 original 6 teams with long histories, well all the original 6 teams had long histories, but that's besides the point. And what did that get the Blues? A 50 year wondering in the desert, until no one remembers the 3 previous trips to the finals. I have opened up my kiosk. Tin foil hats anyone? Anyone for a tin foil hat? Never would have guessed that thing was hollow.
  19. The entire final series was great and very entertaining. @shrader will want me banned for saying that. The NBA playoffs are usually very good, or at least mostly good. My feelings on Toronto are well known, but I am happy that the Raptors won it all. Why do you think the ending was awful? Yes. As far as I know anyway. Does not the NFL do that too?
  20. Love you SwampD, but you are incorrect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968–69_NHL_season#Stanley_Cup_Finals
  21. IMO, Orr was the best ever, but he is one of those dastardly Bruins (mostly), so I must hate him too.
  22. I think there are others as well, but that was a very memorable run for Montreal and Roy. No one expected Montreal to win it, especially against a Calgary team that beat the mighty Oilers to get to the final.
  23. This is the correct answer. Therefore, not at all odd for the kid commish to say what he did. The Blues lost in 1970, but game 4 was in Boston and ended on one of the most memorable goals in the history of hockey.
  24. @Drunkard, I think that you should delete your post a few up the page. That way I won't have to report it.
