Report Sabres preparing for An Additional Top Ten Pick

yes, I wouldnt' draft a goalie just because but Wallstedt is expected to go in the top `10 or so. Think the Sabres, if they have a 2nd pick in the top 10 should go for it. Im definitely not going to pass on him because of I already have UPL and Portillo -

so you agree, both are unknowns. why not draft a high end prospect to add to the prospect pool? -

what have either of those proven? Look at the final 4 teams. all 4 have goalies drafted in Round 1. Keep drafting them until you get it right. i will admit that Skinner contract is ugly..Sabers would probably have to spend on some UFA's if Skinner, Eichel, Samson and Risto were gone just to get to the floor -

with Risto's expiring contract, he's worth more than just getting Seattle to take someone else off the roster. -

Pronman had Cossa ranked higher than Wallstedt but I believe, by his own admission, he isnt an expert on goalie prospects. -

its usually part of the deal that the 1st year of the ELC gets burnt
-
Is the narrative that you never take a goalie in round one officially dead?
-
boo! you are making an assumption a Center prospect doesnt come back in any of the deals KA makes this summer.
-
how about getting fair value? don't need to win it, just dont lose it.
-
great point. There is no deadline. you wait until you get proper value. If he isnt 100% and wont / cant play, he goes on LTIR. If he Pulls a PLD, then he goes to the pressbox.
-
I dont see why that means Beniers gets drafted over Power, assuming they have Power ranked higher
-
sure but on the other side the Sabres traded ROR who won the Conn Smythe for a bag of peanuts
-
only the Sabres could trade their best player at his lowest value.
-
Call Beane ask him what he would do. Problem solved
-
The Kings are out until the Sabres start talking with the Ducks. No way Blake can see Eichel go to their main rivals without attempting to acquire him
-
Reading what Freidman is saying 'other GMs are saying to trade him sooner than later, since he is injured you aren't dealing from a position of strength" SOunds like experience GM's trying to take advantage of a newbie GM. Im really worried that he will listen and the return will be something like the ROR trade. Sabres may want to move on but you need to do it when you are in a strong position...Eichel being healthy. Keep him a Sabre until he is healthy. If he can never play hockey again put him on LTIR use his $10mill on other players. I really have a bad feeling here Hopefully the new experienced Assistant GM plays a huge role here.

Im sure the return for Jack is a moving target. If you can get Anaheim to give you a good package (includes Zegras), remind Blake that he probably doesn't want to have to face Jack on his main Rivals for the next 10 years. now maybe Byfield becomes available. I would think the Ryan Johnson's rights may be on the table as well.

That was a lazy question on my part. Thanks for answering anyways

Have we seen any rankings, since the World Championships that doesnt have Power as #1? Probably too soon, I guess what’s the most mainstream site that doesn’t rank him #1?
-
These are extremely well written and thought out Great job !
-
Surprised it’s as close as it is I appreciate the debate even if Power is going to be the pick

“Owen Power, a defenseman at the University of Michigan, was the unanimous choice as the No. 1 player in NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters for the 2021 NHL Draft.” thankfully he’s didnt say consensus!
