  1. 100% agree. Keeping Byram now, gives them more time to see if Quinn or Rosen can step up and fill a role in the top 9 im optimistic about Quinn still Play Byram next to Dahlin, his numbers will look great and drive up his trade value. if Quinn doesn't rebound , then you will have a market for Byram
  2. Does he have a NTC? If so, why waste any brain cells even dreaming about?
  3. There are very few teams with cap issues.
  4. Imagine the hope they would create if they traded next years first rounder (lottery protected of course) for a legit NHL player? it won't happen though. Sabres are a draft and develop team. bottom feeders for the rest of the league only real hope is to luck into the playoffs on the back of a goalie that gets hot for A couple of months.
  5. You trade him and create a hole you can't fill on D. Sign him for 2 years, play him with Dahlin. See what happens As for the forwards. The Sabres are a draft and develop team it's time for one of their high draft picks to grab the bull by the horns and take a spot in the top 6 Quinn - we know he can do it. Hopefully becomes the player we thought he would be prior to injuries or Rosen - This is it for him. Hopefully not a tweener (AHL / NHL) but he has to show it this year Helenius - has a shot, they said he was close coming into last year... probably starts in AHL but hopefully takes a big step forward
  6. Sabres and crazy spending? You've been following along during the Pegula era , right? as for RFA's. The Sabres would need to target this "First- and Third-Round Picks: If the AAV is between $4,680,077 and $7,020,113, the compensation is a first- and third-round pick." as they don't own their 2nd round pick next year
  7. Isn't Marner to Vegas basically a done deal? The only reason he would have a conversation with The Sabres is so that he can leverage them to sign elsewhere hopefully there will be some crazy spending tomorrow on a weak UFA crop and some teams will get themselves in a position where it's difficult to sign their RFA's. That's where Buffalo needs to come in with an offer sheet
  8. Are the Sabres better off with Byram on the top pair and Jack Quinn in the top 6 OR are they better off with Samuelsson or Timmins on the top pair and a legit top 6 winger? I'll probably be in the minority but I prefer Byram and Quinn option Hopefully Jack has a bounce back year.
  9. "Arguably the most violent player in the class, with the mobility, reach, defensive traits, and bloodlust to develop into a tremendous play killer.” EP
  10. "Timmins is a promising, bigger-bodied offensive defenseman with upside if he can stay healthy. His advanced stats show he drives play and contributes more offensively."
  11. Good pick, no issues. Now let's not see you in a Sabres uniform for at least 4 years. 1 more year in WHL 2 years in AHL and then let's see where he is.
  12. Isn't that why they cant win? Too many young defensemen
  13. Definitely feeling they take Mrtka
  14. So there goes Martone and Martin Almost 100% now Sabres are going with Aitcheson or Mrtka
  15. Maybe the Sabres can steal Martin when he's 23 and ready to break out , like the Panthers did with Bennett 🤷‍♂️
  16. Pretty sure Martone goes next
  17. IF Martin and Martone at 9, I hope they take Aitcheson I want compete level and toughness and this kid has that. I don't care that he is a LHD
  18. Completely disagree. you give 25 NHL mgmt teams / owners Dahlin, Eichel, Reinhart and Thompson (not to mention Ullmark) and they turn that into a legit contender for playoffs every year. At least 10, turn them into cup contenders.
  19. You need the biggest stars on your team in the NBA to win because if you have the stars you have the refs NHL doesn't work that way
  20. Let's pretend a new owner with competent mgmt and coaching came in during the 2019-20 season. Leafs got dominated when the Panthers decided to play their game Also, Let's not forget Bob wasn't on his game for the first 2 either
  21. When you have a core of Eichel; Tage, Reinhart and Dahlin the tank worked to perfection unfortunately they couldn't figure out the 2nd part and that's how to rebuild out of it
  22. Just watched the Reinhart interview minutes after winning the cup can't help for smile and feel good for that guy though it's always going to tough not to think "what might have been"
  23. that's why I specifically said " let's Assume the Sabres had competent ownership, mgmt and coaching. Or are you saying it would have been impossible for them to get to the level of players they've become if they stayed in Buffalo? If that's the case how do you explain Tage's progress and Dahlin becoming one of the top defenders in the league Not to mention both Sam and Jack were pretty good as Sabres and neither had hit their "prime" before being traded away
  24. How did this become this?
  25. Imagine an alternative world where the 2019-20 Sabres have competent ownership, management and coaching The core 4 ( if you will) would be Tage, Eichel, Samson and Dahlin. .where would stand now? a) same - the drought would still continue b) wildcard contenders. - would have made the playoffs once or twice but never really a threat c) solid playoff team - consistently making playoffs but never really a cup contender (similar to the Leafs) d) would be in a group of 4 or 5 teams that are legit cup contenders Just to remind us all, other players on that roster Mitts, Mcabe, Montour, Skinner, Ullmark, Risto and ERod Cozens, JJP and Quinn were in the system there are still lots of holes to be plugged But let's assume MGMT did a decent job of filling in the rest of the roster but the stars were the core 4
