Mustache of God replied to Doohickie's topic in The Aud Club
The Sabres are now 17-1-1 vs San Jose at home. I'll have 3 of whatever beer is having. Hope Kane is OK, hope he didn't break a wrist or dislocated a shoulder. -

According to Marty B. on the instigators this morning, the Sabres are 16-1-1 at home vs. the Sharks. -

Looks like they have wings...but no blue cheese, only ranch (they say that's how DDB likes them). -

Yeah...I think it's time I come in. I'll haul in a keg of whiskey and will dig Twister out of my closet and bring that too. -

I can't stand the guy. It seems like he's yelling the entire broadcast and, in my mind, is a typical New Jersey troglodyte. I'm sure he's well loved in his region. -

How can the refs see this and not call it interference? I just don't understand. -

Eeesh...that replay is scary looking, his head caught the side of the glass there. Hope he's ok. -

Wow. Great hit, Mccabe! -
Are these available to watch online anywhere?

If the NYI moved to Hartford would they change their name to the Connecticut Mainlanders? What would the logo look like? Better yet, what would the mascot look like?

Ghost seems to be mired in a textbook sophomore slump and I'm reminded of Tyler Myers. I can't imagine their management will sell low on him now, especially as he won't need to be protected for the expansion draft as he's a 2nd year pro.

Enough of Brady and the Hoodie, Time to Root for the Falcons
Mustache of God replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I am personally abstaining from the game based upon the following logic: 1. I will never, ever, ever root for the Pats which by default would give me interest in rooting for Atlanta 2. Every time I root for a team to win a championship (or any big game really), they lose. 3. If I root for Atlanta then the Patriots win. 4. the Patriots. 5. If I don't watch, Atlanta has a chance to win. I've also reached a point in my life where I don't enjoy watching football unless it's the Bills and even that's becoming a stretch. -
Thanks. I'll give Ennis the benefit of 15 games to get back to form, which is mid-february vs. the Avalanche.
-
How many games did it take Kane to get back to form after coming off the injury? Whatever the answer is to that question is roughly how many games I'd like to see Ennis play before I dispense judgement on how I feel about him. He's missed a lot of time and he's going to need a good stretch of games to get back into peak form.

Whose going to score for us if we got a shootout now? I gotta believe Murray is in control of all of the roster moves without any real input from DDB. -
Nassau is ~20 miles from the closest subway stop, if you wanted to go to an Islanders game from the city you'd have to take the LIRR and then catch a bus. I've always lived in Brooklyn so I love the convenience of the new arena. I made it to two Islanders game before they moved to Brooklyn and both times opted for the "party bus organized by buffalo fans" option. I blacked out both times and don't really remember anything other than that....to be young again (or at least mid-20s). On a side note, and probably for another thread, this Saturday the Islanders are hosting a Pride Night, and this saturday afternoon before the Islanders/Canes game I'll be playing a scrimmage at the Barclays center with the New York City Gay Hockey Association. I've never skated in an NHL arena and I can't wait for the experience.

Just when you think this team is out they'll put together a few wins to stay in it, only to lose a few to stay not so in it. Based on recent history I'm expecting a win here. Looking ahead at the schedule for the month...we have 9 out of 13 games against the West (who we've played well against). My bold prediction is by the end of the month we'll still be ~5 points back. I'd like to see Hank pulled, again. Let's do it boys! I'm also hungry to see a hat trick from any one on this team. -

RJ is on vacation until March. We're stuck with DD for the next month. -
Barclays worked in theory because you have a Long Island Rail Road stop literally underneath the arena which made it somewhat less convenient than driving into Brooklyn and back again to catch a game. Building a new arena in Queens will eliminate that modicum of convenience and I can't see how attendance will improve. It certainly isn't going to attract any casual fans. Barclays is at transit-hub, Citi-Field is a trek. I for one, don't want to see them move. I live a mile away from the arena and casually attend ~3 games a year buying tickets on the secondary market. Oh well.

Well if they're down by 2 late in the game I think we have a good chance they'll show up to make it interesting....only to have the tying score called off by some hogwash toronto review.

I'd like to see Gionta moved at the deadline just so we can transition the Captainship to ROR and hopefully sew an "A" into Eichel's sweater. Gionta leaving would create something of a leadership vacuum and I'd like to see our future leaders step up and embrace the roles now. I'd also like to see Gionta get a taste of the playoffs again. I'm indifferent to the status of Kulikov and I know the pending expansion draft makes for an atypical scenario. I'm actually looking forward to the expansion draft to remove one of the dead weight members of the team (fingers crossed for Moulson, Bogo, or Gorges but I fear we'll lose an Ennis or Girgensons). Maybe I'm still in tank mode but I have a feeling he hasn't been happy here and will test UFA instead of resigning here. I'd rather him traded than losing him for nothing. Personally I'm not expecting much action out of Murray at the deadline. I can't think any play-off bound team is thinking "We're just one Gionta/Franson/Kulikov away from being a serious contender this year". I remember Weber was heralded as a great depth pick-up for the Capitals. That didn't work out so well.

"I don't like you but I love you. Seems that I'm always thinking of you. Oooh, ooh, ooh, you treat me badly, I love you madly. You really got a hold on me." The Beatles sum it up best for me. Do I like what I've seen from this team for the past 7 years? No. Do I like the current team? Not really, and why should we? This team is so hard-pressed to put together 60 minutes of effort. "Free" time is difficult to come by and too often this season I'll turn a game on during the 2nd period (it's rare I'll be home and able to catch a 7 or 730 start) to see the Sabres look completely outclassed. The product is supposed to be entertainment after all. If I'm not being entertained, what's the point? That doesn't mean I don't love this team though. In my Sunday beer-league, our team jersey is Yellow with Blue Trim. I have a Sabres patch ironed on a shoulder which I take a lot of for but wear it with pride. Once this team finally becomes competitive again I'll make the time to watch the games, because they will be entertaining and it will be an appropriate use of my time. I'm not a super-active posted here (only 750ish posts since 2011) but I'm here everyday following every detail of the team. It helps get me through the work day when it's slow or provides a needed break when it's chaotic. So thank you to all the active posters who have provided insight, theories and criticisms over the years.
