  1. "I don't like you but I love you. Seems that I'm always thinking of you. Oooh, ooh, ooh, you treat me badly, I love you madly. You really got a hold on me." The Beatles sum it up best for me. Do I like what I've seen from this team for the past 7 years? No. Do I like the current team? Not really, and why should we? This team is so hard-pressed to put together 60 minutes of effort. "Free" time is difficult to come by and too often this season I'll turn a game on during the 2nd period (it's rare I'll be home and able to catch a 7 or 730 start) to see the Sabres look completely outclassed. The product is supposed to be entertainment after all. If I'm not being entertained, what's the point? That doesn't mean I don't love this team though. In my Sunday beer-league, our team jersey is Yellow with Blue Trim. I have a Sabres patch ironed on a shoulder which I take a lot of for but wear it with pride. Once this team finally becomes competitive again I'll make the time to watch the games, because they will be entertaining and it will be an appropriate use of my time. I'm not a super-active posted here (only 750ish posts since 2011) but I'm here everyday following every detail of the team. It helps get me through the work day when it's slow or provides a needed break when it's chaotic. So thank you to all the active posters who have provided insight, theories and criticisms over the years.
  2. Wow this is some serious grade a . What are they looking at in toronto.
  3. That rear view angle clearly shows its in. This is an interesting review
  4. That was the worst power play I've seen in a long time
  5. Time to tie it up.
  6. Brad May is unwatchable. Guy needs to relax when he speaks.
  7. Ha, RJ saying someone just tried to sell him a beer is the best thing this period has had to offer
  8. I disagree, I will always root against Toronto and I'm hoping they kick-start their Spring woes and also start losing the games in hand they have. otherwise thanks for putting that list together.
  9. They say he works in mysterious ways. I, for one, am a huge fan of the 8:30 pm start. This allows me to attend a pick-up hockey game in the park tonight and get home and shower and won't miss much of the first. The past few games the team has been getting support across the roster outside of but not excluding our top 6 (Gionta, Girgensons, Kane, Franson, Bogo). Who steps up tonight? I'm looking at you Matty Mo.
  10. You're doing God's work.
  11. I just caught the highlights and the first goal was a perfectly placed shot and the 4th was a one timer from Neal who was wide open in the slot. Those were not on the goalie. The 2nd and 3rd goal, however, are borderline inexcusable to give up at this level.
  12. THE HYPE TRAIN AIN'T SLOWING DOWN!!!! WHOOOO!!!
  13. Has Okposo played with Eichel at all 5v5 this year? What about ROR? With all the line juggling we've seen all year I can't understand why DDB wouldn't try putting his skill players on a line together...maybe even at the end of games we've been behind? Has that happened?
  14. Jeez, is Edmonton the real winner of the Kassian/Hogdson trade?
  15. Derek Grant will score the GWG tonight on a softie that trickles through Lenher....is what I would have said last week but I just bought a one-way ticket on the Hype-Train express whose next destination is Playoff City. Choo-choo mother-! Eichel pots 3 tonight. GO Sabres.
  16. We had this in my house growing up and this was the first thing I thought of seeing this thread. I wasn't born until the mid-80's so that's my two cents.
  17. Just caught the highlights. Holy Jesus was RJ in fine form tonight! Looked like a great goaltending bout on both sides and I'm happy to see two wins in a row (despite giving up points to divisional teams in OT).
  18. Can't tell if I have an intermittent stream of if Brad May can't speak properly.
  19. I can't wait until Eichel finally scores on one of those faceoff shots.
  20. Before I could even come to a conclusion in my head of which is more pathetic, being 30th on the powerplay or 30th on the PK, the question was answered for me by Detroit.
  21. If the Sabres somehow luck into a lottery pick or draft top 3, would you rather GMTM trade that pick for a more established young D stud/top 6 speedy winger or would you rather draft the pick and wait for it to develop?
  22. Beginning to play hockey at an older age is tough because the concept of organized practices pretty much does not exist. For me, I'd wake up super early so I could be out on the ice at a rink in long island city at 7am where I'd be the only one on the ice. I then was able to get onto a team in a league where I was woefully outclassed and felt like an embarrassment every time i stepped on the ice. If I had a chance to get on the ice I'd jump at it because that's the only way to get better. The more I played the more I was able to start thinking about the little things (keep you legs moving, stick on the ice, lift your head and look to make a pass before throwing the puck away, keep your knees bent, be vocal on the ice, positioning, etc). There's so many simple little things you can do to make yourself a better player. When you're starting out though it feels like things are moving so fast and you're lucky to do any of the above much less not fall over when trying to turn. These days I'm decent, but not good. I love the sport so much and now that I've moved into my 30's hockey has replaced my social life (I can't deal with hangovers from staying out drinking all the time). Best decision of my adult life.
  23. I live in Brooklyn and play at Chelsea Piers in Manhatton, Aviator at Floyd Bennet Park and also Prospect Park's open hockey & stick and puck sessions when the rink is open which is my favorite because I live so close. Started playing ice hockey two years ago (the tank team drove me to take the ice myself, i'd probably hate hockey if i didn't start playing).
