  1. Jack Eichel for a Erik Karlsson
  2. Thanks for that info. I wish I could stick my Buffalo sports interests head into the sand from now until say...September so I could avoid all the rampant speculation but I won't.
  3. I've been on vacation the past 10 days and have been somewhat out of the loop so forgive me if this has already been discussed: In Pegula's presser after canning Whaley & the scouting staff, he said he waited until after the draft because that was the end of their "cycle" and their work for the year was essentially complete. This made me scratch my head because why would he fire his entire hockey staff 2 months leading up to the draft? Did he have that little faith in Murray and his team? Does he believe a new GM will be able to put together a staff, a draft plan and preferably have a coach in now t-minus 53 days? I understand we're dealing with two different organizations/sports but I can't imagine the process of scouting and drafting can be that drastically different. All these moves come off as Pegula acting like a gunslinger, shoot first, ask questions second. While I agree that these moves had to be made the timing seems very rash and I have very little faith in the immediate future for both teams. I have absolutely zero opinion on who they should bring in as I follow sports to that level of detail. Whomever it is, please, pleeeaseeee take us to the playoffs.
  4. Which, in buffalo terms, is precisely 0%
  5. I'm rooting for Toronto in the East and Edmonton in the West. Embrace the dark side, we have cookies here.
  6. Has Quenville's message gone stale in the windy city? Is he on the hot seat? Does he want to coach here?
  7. I know he's an expert and I'm some schlub on the internet but I have to imagine that these positions, or at least the GM gets filled much sooner than that. The draft is 2 months and 3 days from today and to compound on that you have the expansion draft. The #1 need for this team is to fix the D and that's not happening via free-agency which means that needs to be fixed via wheeling and dealing leading up to the draft. If they take over a month or so to fill that position the new GM will not have enough time to sufficiently prepare for all of that.
  8. It's being reported that Russ Brandon started a WhatsApp group text with Sutter and Lombardi saying "Terry is being a little cost-conscious these days as he's paying a lot of people to not do their jobs. His new craze is BOXED WINE. He loves the sweeter stuff."
  9. Does this close the book on Gionta coming back? I have to imagine the new GM will want a clean slate of leadership in what was apparently a fractured locker room.
  10. So now that we've had time to digest the news how do you feel about this? The team was doomed with Dan behind the bench, he had completely lost the room. Without him we are better. Murray i'm less enthusiastic about but overall accept it and am ready to move on. At least the off-season has gotten a lot more interesting. The draft lottery is next weekend...it'll be great if we hit.
  11. How do you not have answers? You bring in Antipin, Guhle and trade your first round pick for help on defense You fire the coach whose lost the room and find a new one who coaches around his players, not the system. Bam. Problem solved. Does this mean we'll get to see Reinhart back at center?
  12. That's what I was poking at. I will literally flip a table in a public space if the Pegulas bring in someone whose been with the organization for some nostalgia factor. The Sabres have never won anything, there's nothing to actually be nostalgic about. I also don't want dinosaurs coming in who've done it all before with other teams. I want someone fresh and hungry and motivated. Give someone a 1-year deal to prove something. I'm sick of seeing these cushy contracts be signed, it makes people too comfortable. You get the contract when you get the results.
  13. Everyone is talking about bringing back Patty, or Ruff or Nolan....but what about bringing Darcy Reiger in for another round. I'm serious. Think about it. With this core, and his ability to make trades, Darcy can lead this team to a Stanley Cup. Think about it. Just kidding. That's a horrible idea.
  14. Does this affect our chances with Antipin?
  15. I'm guessing Pegula insisted DDB needed to be fire and Murray didn't like that and Tim went down with the ship.
  16. WELCOME TO THE NEW ERA OF THE BUFFALO SABRES.
  17. MURRAY AND BYSLMA DISMISSED PER WGR.
  18. We could just change the title of this thread to read "Let the Fire Bylsma Watch End"
  19. I've been following the Caps-Leaf series the closest this round and, while it might not be fair, the more I watch the Leafs the more I hate Bylsma. If it were the Sabres who miraculously fell into the 8th seed I can imagine his press conferences being summed up by him telling the media how much better Washington is than them, how they need contain the game and slow it down only to have Washington run them over...essentially just lobbing out excuses why the Sabres will eventually lose.
  20. Bahston v. Ottawa is pretty much where I expected it to be.
  21. I think part of my motivations for wanting the Leafs to win is pure spite. In the bracket league I'm playing for $$$ I had the Wild going all the way and if I'm going down I want everyone else to go down with me in the 1st round as 15/18 people picked Washington to win and 2 others picked Chicago.
  22. YOU CAN"T FIRE ME, I QUIT!
  23. Ever wake up after a night of drinking and just like....feel nothing but regret. That is how I feel right now, except I didn't get drunk last night....I was rooting for the Leafs. It feels so skeezy but I'll be damned if I don't love a good underdog story.
  24. Seeing as how Edmonton traded a goalie who flamed out and is playing in the KHL for him I'd say, yes, they won that trade.
