  1. Or hire a service... and you can drink a beer while watching them mow.
  2. Joe Thornton is starting to get into Lanny McDonald neighborhood. Happy the Sharks made it. I like the Blues but I really wanted the Sharks. Good for them.
  3. Photoshopped... :)
  4. No one has to be politically correct anywhere. My comment was because in the draft lottery thread, when Toronto won the pick there were quite a few comments wishing harm to Matthews. I had asked why would we do that and was met with "It's over the top and shouldn't be taken seriously." I don't disagree but I made the point that people tend to sound much more serious at times. Thus, in this thread, when the statement of harm is preceded by "I swear to God" it makes it sound a lot less "over the top" and much more serious. So I asked a question... because in the hopes of understanding the point that had been made previously, I desired an answer to this seemingly different scenario. As I said.. I wasn't trying to be an ass, I was legitimately asking. What seems to be lost in this world is the concept that people should ask questions with the hope of creating a better understanding. Rather, it is much easier to just condemn those who ask the questions. See above. As I clearly underscored in my request, the phrase "I swear to God" provides some air of seriousness. It clearly did not. I have my answer. The world is blurring the line between literal and hyperbolic. As such, it becomes harder and harder to ignore commentary. As a final parting stating on this, allow me to go completely off-topic and relay a story that happened last night. I was coaching my 12U baseball team. In the parking lot behind me I can hear a child who is clearly very upset. I look over at the parking lot a few times and see two adults apparently talking to each other. I say apparently because it's far enough that I cannot hear them (75 feet?). This goes on for some indeterminate about of time (I was paying attention to the baseball game). As time goes on I don't hear the children anymore. So I think, cool, the kid was calmed and all is well. That's until the a State Trooper and a Sheriff pull into the lot. Now of course I realize something is not right. There's only one adult left in the parking lot and a car is missing. What happened? I still don't fully know. As best as I know at this point, there was a heated discussion between two divorced parents and two kids were caught up in it. The father was accusing the mother of being a drug addict and physically forced the kids into his car. She tried to stop him and he bumped her with the car. He apparently left (that's why it became quiet) and she called the police. The other part is that he might have been a bit TOO forceful with the children as there were questions being asked whether he hit them or not. Now, had I stopped and paid more attention perhaps those children don't end up driving off in a car with a guy who might have just abused them. One might half expect that by the time I heading home there will be some kind of Amber Alert. It appeared to be a normal conversation with a kid who was just a bit unruly. Turns out it was more than that. Where's the line? See, you will feel somewhat put off by me asking because in your head you know what you mean. Meanwhile, my backstory could be different. Perhaps I experienced something where someone said something so over the top that you completely dismiss it and then it happens. Sort of like in high school when a kid said he was so pissed at his parents he could kill them.... everyone says that right? Except he did. Yep. That happened. I heard him say it.
  5. Remember that thread about wishing harm on players and everything being over the top so it should not be taken seriously? Is this one of those times? Because "I swear to God" seems to bring it a back to reality. Or is this different? Not being an ass... legitimately asking.. do you have reason to wish him harm due to his comments about Drury?
  6. There's not even a true capitalist state. No ideology has ever existed in its true form. Humanity does not have the capacity to live that way.
  7. If you can spend less at the bar than a year's worth of cable (or even two months plus installation) then I'd go that route.. or find a friend. I think the locked in TV deals are coming to an end however.
  8. As though he's the only owner who sells naming rights... The MMA would not approve. I do like "The Bank". but I was fond of the FN Center.
  9. This Brock Boeser? (not sure if it was posted elsewhere on the board) http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/region/4029298-it-was-amazing-says-prom-date-und-hockey-player-brock-boeser
  10. Did all three tip the puck? I thought two were shot out of play. The one I thought was where the puck was in the air and the play hit it with his stick and it continued across the ice and went out of play.
  11. So... he wants to play for a team that basically threw away his favorite player? The Bruins didn't exactly treat Jumbo Joe very well.
  12. He was pretty good on ice too.
  13. If the NHL wanted to keep pucks out of the stands they would have put the netting all the way around. A penalty doesn't protect the fans. It's still a penalty if you flip it into the netting area. They don't want players putting the puck over the glass on purpose. Why are we even having this conversation? Because one player tipped a mid-air puck and it went out of play? Guess he should have used his hand. Had he hit someone in the face with his stick it would have been a penalty even if he didn't mean it. Let's see if the Pens have an answer for Brian Boyle.
  14. I predict that by 6/1 everyone will realize just how much Fat Tire sucks as a beer. Kind of like when Shiner Bock arrived. The world was aflutter... and then... "meh". Had Sam Adams Nitro Series White Ale... like a freakin' coriander orange milkshake. HOOOOOLY COW. I want to nitro a witbier soon.
  15. What I've learned after going more than a month with the cabinet empty? The first bottle you get will taste amazing and you'll drink too much of it that night. :) Wife grabbed Knob Creek, 9yr, 100 proof. I felt good.
  16. I'm not going to judge anyone specifically on this topic. I think it's plausible the NHL may have some influence on these decisions. I have some thoughts that might have gone into the decision.. I don't lend them any merit other than brainstorming. Charging keeps the typical "tail-gater fan" out of the draft. This potentially leads to a more controlled crowd on TV which translates into a better image for Buffalo. Charging keeps Toronto fans from taking over the arena. Charging brings even more money in from Toronto fans who were going to show up anyway. I dunno. Personally, I don't like it. Recouping the costs to host it? Then don't host it.
  17. First - thanks for the kind words on the photo. Second - this thread will make the entire off-season tolerable. There is a lot of great stuff in here! Third - I was never too crazy about shooting in RAW if only because of the size of the files. But that lightroom conversion sold me. I might be going that route (and cheap memory cards now). Love this thread. A few more.. these are from some time back...
  18. Okay, let's give it a shot..
  19. This conversation happened similarly when discussing Brad Marchand and similar things were said and I hardly believed they were absurd or intentionally ridiculous. I guess absurd would be hoping for something that does not routinely happen in hockey like knee injuries, etc. I completely understand why people do it... just making a plea to rise above it. I'm not overly concerned if they do it... it's all good.
  20. A nice hobby and a great idea for a thread... most of my stuff is not processed other than some quick light balancing, etc. But why not share. The question is... what site is a good place to load the pictures to make sharing the photo via the link easier? Google Photos appears to not allow it.
  21. I don't like the Bruins, Leafs, Flyers, etc. I don't want them to win. I want them to lose, all the time. That's different than coming onto a forum and posting how much you hope Matthews gets injured just because the team you dislike won the lottery and you're all flavors of upset because two years in a row your team did not. Had the Sabres won the lottery, if you would have said the same thing about Matthews then fine... but I think that's completely suspect. The kid has no control over who ends up winning the lottery. As to your second point, I will counter with. It's Toronto. :)

    Tank 3.0

I just read this thread while eating lunch. Bad move.
  23. Let's put that in the Chopped mystery ingredients and see if it's true.
  24. It's not about caring. It's about choosing to move yourself forward as opposed to hold someone back. Why wish ill against someone else when you could just wish good on those you want to succeed? As long as the Sabres finish ahead of the Leafs each year I am a happy person. So after 50 years they finally got it right? I guess you can go with that. There's a perception they have it right, but the team is far from perfect.
  25. Thanks for calling it out. Even in jest it shouldn't be said. Wishing blood clots to end careers, and breaking ankles, knees, etc. It's absurd. I'm also laughing at all the references to Canadian/Toronto media and their commentary. Who cares what a bunch of tools say? This thread almost went the way I expected.. but I thought it would be better. Oh well. Congratulations to Toronto. They've still sucked far longer than the Sabres. The idea that this one win fixes their problems is intriguing. They'll find a way to screw this up. They've screwed up everything for the past 49 years right? Isn't next year the 50th anniversary of their last Cup appearance?
