  1. You can't make a trade like that. The analysts heads would not be able to comprehend it. Marketers would have to find a greater superlative than what they used for the Subban trade day. It would be chaos. I can only imagine what it would be like on here.
  2. So it's bad Risto is playing too much but Jack should skate harder? I'm not Goldilocks.. not quite sure where "just right" lies on the scale. ;) I want to watch.. but some damn fool went and got two puppies yesterday (we had lost our last dog in April after 18 years) so I was busy last night. That said... the wife is happy, the kids are ecstatic and I have two pretty damn cool puppies in the house. One of them has shown an interest in watching the TV. Hope she's a hockey fan. :)
  3. So a secondary point is meaningless? Holy hell, I better change the message to my kids to tell them to start being greedy and only score goals because setting them up is meaningless. There's no point in making great passes or opening up the ice for your teammates. Just score goals you stupid idiot children. The guy had a point. He played a great 200ft. game. What was he supposed to do? Hell, you don't even know what the coach asked him to do out there. I think we've had a little too much Ted Nolan (work hard and it's all good). Despite that brainwashing people seem to have, coaches do dictate a strategy and set a method of play that players are expected to work within. Jack Eichel does not skate like a hamster on a wheel. That's not his game. He "floats" faster and more accurately than most players who've played the game and he CAN skate fast and deceptively so when he needs to. I'm amazed at the criticism. Little McDavid that Could is out there spinning his wheels saying "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" (get a point). And Jack is all like "I already did" and people are slamming him? I've not yet read what Jack was SUPPOSED to do last night that would have made his efforts receive praise from the naysayers. I've seen "float". Brett Hull floated a lot... he sucked.
  4. Every other player? Meh. I didn't say shouldn't though. Oh.. and for all that.. he had a point. In more important news... Braden Holtby's mask and it will be auctioned off with proceeds going to Gord's charity of choice.
  5. Nuclear Sharts? No thanks.
  6. The guy is the head of the IOC and he can't see that his schedule should be focused on the premier event for one of his constituent organizations? I can only imagine the items on his schedule that are more important that attending an event that occurs every 4 years. (the funeral aside)
  7. Wow. So, I don't care what Eichel does in this tournament. I don't root for Team NA. If the wants to conserve his energy and the output for the Sabres season I am completely fine with that. Moreover, this was an exhibition game in the tournament. It was meaningless. But hey.. because McDavid was on the ice and a few other players out there chose to up their energy output it must mean Jack could do more. Well, it likely does mean he COULD do more but WHY should he?
  8. You didn't like the gose? I'm shocked.
  9. Glad you got it. I've had similar problems with a bad video card in the past. I was going to ask if you had onboard (seems fairly standard these days) and you had found it so excellent on finding the problem and of course unfortunately needing to find a new video card.
  10. Just spent the last 8 days on vacation with the family and managed to try a ton of new breweries and beers. Officially only stopped at a few breweries however due to time constraints. Isley Brewing in Richmond was quite solid in their beer. It was a fun place and there are are a few other brewers in the Scott's Addition neighborhood. Ended up needing lunch and went around the corner to Boulevard Burgers which had flights so I sampled a few there as well. Their Ruby Red Slippers (session IPA with ruby red grapefruit) was pretty damn good. Overall I'd say I was highly impressed with the beers from O'Connor brewing out of Norfolk. I also had quite a few good Hardywood beers (Hoplar is a double IPA aged on tulip poplar wood found in Virginia). It's not a strong wood taste and even if it weren't in there the beer would be impressive. O'Connor's El Guapo IPA (agave) was one I kept returning to over and over. Quite tasty. Spring House Brewing - Lexicon Devil is a worth grapefruit pale Commonwealth - Wapatoolie was a good tropical IPA Coelacanth - Coelia is a rosemary lemon wheat beer that would be perfect on 90+ degree days (it didn't suck at 83 degrees either) Anyway.. it was a great time. The sheer number of breweries popping up in the Norfolk/Williamsburg/VA Beach is right on par with Rochester which I swear opened another 2 while I was away for week. Going to crash soon though. They'll all do well until they realize there can only be 1 hyper local spot and then you've got to gain a much larger following to exist. At this point it's become the pop-up business model. Open a brewery, the tasting room, and bring in food trucks. Hope people show up which they will for awhile.
  11. One of those moments where the host nation getting into the tournament automatically is a joke. Oh well. Now to see if the NHL sends the players.
  12. Better than CoCo
  13. They can run Dessert Night promotions... it'll be awesome.
  14. The bigger problem I think people have at this point is that it's not about the little improvements.. it's about how bad the core game is to play. NHL 16 was so full of horrendous AI and absolutely ridiculous game play that it ruined it for me. If I can test NHL 17 at some point I might see if it does enough to change my mind but I doubt it. I love hockey.. hell I hate NHL 16 and I still play it and I still swear at it which is really the ultimate insanity... except I paid for it so I might as well use it. I just can't bring myself to shell out the money for NHL 17 unless its made remarkable improvements to the game play. I couldn't care less if they added ECHL, build your own arena, and the World Cup of Hockey... because in the end I buy the game to PLAY hockey and its hard to do. Sorry, not ranting at you. I fully believe to each their own. I just cannot stand where they've gone with this game... it used to be so great.
  15. But.. aren't you going to pay the service/convenience fee whether you are buying from StubHub or if you are buying from the Sabres? That's why I chose not to include it. They should nearly balance out.
  16. You forget the "Because Buffalo" complaint...
  17. I don't think this hurts StubHub all that much. The STH can resell their ticket on stubhub at their season ticket price. Initially their pricing will be better than the Sabres remaining ticket price which is their price plus some mark up. The STH is committed to the game so if they don't sell their ticket (assuming they can't use it) they are effectively throwing that money away. Fans should look to Stubhub first to buy a ticket as it will be cheaper. There will be a point where buying it from the Sabres may be as cheap. This does not include a discussion on fees added to a ticket price.
  18. The word was the USWNT was going to appeal this decision as being too harsh. I think it's warranted. I have no problem demanding more from people in the realm of respect and sportsmanship. Her entire argument was the equivalent of the "Campers suck" argument from first person shooters. Playing defensively is a strategy. Solo can shut up and serve her suspension. I'm not impressed by her ability as it is.
  19. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marching_Morons Even Mike Judge was influenced...
  20. I'll be curious how this plays out but on the surface I can't see this being a bad thing. Variable pricing occurs in many industries. In this case the season ticket holder knows they are getting the best deal they can get from the Sabres. Everyone else can sit around and watch the price change and buy when it meets their budget.
  21. The Sabres didn't even contact me to interview for their Director of IT position they had posted.
  22. Pretty sure at this point even September will be welcomed for camp purposes and the World Cup of Hockey. Although there didn't seem to be much discussion of Team USA's hockey dominance in the under 18 tournaments recently.
  23. Can't be booed if you are not on the ice. :) But honestly... So there they were (Sabres leadership) sitting around thinking.. how much do we want to spend on marketing this summer? There was a lot of muttering and discussion and then Murray clears his throat. The room falls silent. Why would Tim Murray want to chime in on marketing? Tim says, "I've got this third round pick I don't need. You're talking about spending a good amount of money on advertising. What if I go out and trade for the rights to this kid Vesey. People can talk about Buffalo as being in on a huge name and our name will be out there." "Do you want him?" "No, I don't want him. He's not my kind of player. We'll pitch him. Tell everyone the choice is his and when he goes elsewhere we can move on." "Hmmmm.." This morning at the water cooler. "81 pages... those guys at the fan forum hit 81 pages talking about this." <Tim Murray Face> Bottom line? I was off the grid when the news broke. Didn't care, still don't. He's on his way now...
  24. Wonder how the US will do in Pokemon...
