Evander Kane : Two crime reports filed in nightclub incident
LTS replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
Here's how I look at it. Right now Kane has made a habit of portraying the playboy lifestyle. His photos with money, his speedometer pictures, etc. O'Reilly doesn't have that. O'Reilly's "mistake" was serious and thankfully no one was hurt. I think the biggest difference for me is how each of those two has reacted to events in their lives. Kane continues to stay in the playboy lifestyle and through that seems content to keep putting himself into the conversation about "bad choices".. O'Reilly appears to be a bit more careful. -
Of course his Dad was there... he had to hear what his new role with the Sabres would be when his son signs.

Says the guy (again) whose better judgment is the reason we all have to suffer through his avatar. You bring me pain. Much pain.

Tickets might be cheaper to Bieber...

"Yo Vesey... you can't sign in Boston, the fans are insane. They will be all over you for everything. It's a really bad idea." - Jimmy Hayes Vesey to Sweeney - "Hey, I'm not sold on playing for our crazy fans. I love Boston but I can't have everyone criticizing my life. I'm thinking Buffalo." Sweeney to Vesey - "Check it: http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/24179-veseys-rights-traded-to-sabres-for-3rd-round-pick-76/page-27" Vesey to Sweeney: "Where do I sign?"

I think as we see more and more players going through college this type of scenario will happen. 10 years ago the NCAA was not seen as a legitimate path to the NHL. One only need look at the number of USA born players taken in the first round to begin seeing the growth of hockey talent in the US. While other major sports have been declining in numbers lacrosse and hockey are still growing. As for assessing rosters, there will likely be more changes over the next 4 weeks through trades and some additional signings. Draft picks who sign ELC's now also impact the potential roster this year and next year. And all of it could be a total smokescreen... I don't think it is. I think he goes to Aug. 15, listen to offers and signs a deal. That Tim Murray gave up a meaningless 3rd round pick to be able to talk to him (and have Jack talk to him) until then only improves it being the Sabres. The Sabres basically used a 3rd round pick to get 6 weeks to talk to the kid. Other teams will have less than 24 hours. Even that is worth it.

So, unsigned college free agents play these games after their seasons end and no one says anything. Why does Vesey think he's so good? Because one GM has said there will be 29 teams ready to sign him on 8/15. Poile has said he would be top 6. The same Poile people are saying is a great GM and it was crappy what Vesey did to him. GMTM has said the same about him. Others have said the same about him. Why does Vesey think he's so good? It clearly has to be his arrogant, entitled Harvard background. He signs, good. He doesn't? So be it.

Not a fan of the logo... but generally I don't look at it.

I could see the trade including a conditional draft pick based on Ennis production or games played. The more he plays the lower the pick the Sabres give up. :)
-
I'll put it this way.. Lucic - 7x $6M OKposo -7 x $6M Backes - 5 x $6M Nielsen - 6 x $5.25 Ladd - 7 x $5.5 Of those signings... I like Okposo the best.
-
This is a good deal at $6M. I can live with this and I think it sets the stage that a few people are moving out.
-
Moved from watching it on TV upstairs to streaming downstairs and there's that streaming delay! :)
-
Murray is holding off announcing anything so NHLN can stop fawning over the Canadian signings and spend the appropriate amount of time talking about his team. :)
-
Yea.. at work. I haven't received a new email since 8:35am. Normally I would have had over 60 by now. Sitting at home "working". :)
-
Right? Dual monitors and my laptop on my desk right now. NHL Network on one. This forum on another screen and then my work email, etc. on the laptop. Gotta love distraction!
-
I believe he's UFA. 1 year deal last year IIRC.
-
Nah... you want him to move up and down the top 6 D and fill spots. Risto - Kulikov Fowler - Bogo McCabe - Gorges/Franson Am I missing someone? I know we have a few other D but i see them as Amerks <-> Sabres players at this point.

One could only hope. However, at some point the owner has to say.. wait a minute. An attempted trade like that on the Avs part might be that point.

Well, the Oilers have a plethora of forwards they could have shopped but Hall is the one that moved. They were shopping Hall based on the Risto comments. I would say there was a reason they wanted him out of there. If the Oilers were going around looking (and by all accounts they were the active party) then they targeted Larsson. Either way, there's enough about Hall to create rumblings of what kind of teammate he is and that might scare people away. I am sure its well known in hockey circles but not spread publicly. I would not have traded Risto for Hall under any circumstances. You weren't going to turn around and get anything close to Risto on the market without overpaying so that trade would have depleted an already thin defense corps. All in all I watch Risto play and I see a great defenseman in the making.

There's an article on sportsnet.ca or tsn.ca where they have quotes from Bergevin discussing his turnovers in the Kings game and one in the game before that. They mention an incident where Subban was trying to put blame on the equipment guy for screwing up his skates even though they were fine. I'm sure there are other reasons but he's always been quite a selfish player and takes many unnecessary risks. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, and I would imagine the Habs wanted more stability back there.
