  1. I'm not so sure either, the whole point was to slow this down initially, and we have "kind of" done that. Flatten the curve, whatever you want to call it. Without a true herd immunity this virus will continue, and the people that will have fallout from it will still eventually get it, instead of all at once, just prolonged. I don't have much faith In a real treatment anytime soon and a vaccine will be Meh at best, especially initially. There is a ton of Grey in this whole thing, I just have a gut feel that the long term fallout from this will rear its ugly head in a few years, mental health, economic, etc etc, things we can't tangibly put numbers to, and those things are being dismissed at the current time, incorrectly so.
  2. A virtual visit sometimes simply isn't enough. Since this began and all these drastic measures have been put into place, I have seen a significant increase in mental health issues, visits, inpatient admissions and overall increase in severity and number, many of them stem from economic fallout, and Covid related measures. I also see elderly patients in the home and have for several years now, I have seen a dramatic shift in health negative wise from the pure isolationism that they have to endure. As a matter of fact the daughter of a client of mine told me Covid killed her mother, she said not the disease itself, but the loneliness from no one seeing her killed her, very sad convo I had a couple of months ago. With the cancelled surgeries, many patients did not get proper care and their health conditions progressed; that diabetic foot ulcer they put off turned into necrotizing fasciitis and the patient went septic, lost an appendage or life. Many nursing facilities are now now letting patients back without a negative Covid test which takes several day, in the meantime there elderly patients are in a hospital where they are at severe risk of almost any infection, besides the risk of Covid. Furthermore, we have a very very sick population in the southern tier, the ERs basically dried up from fear, the census daily went from over 100 to 20, maybe even less, it's not like magic came and cured all these chronically ill patients, they were too afraid of Covid to seek treatment for anything else. The list goes on and on, and I'm simply reporting things I've personally seen in a tiny hospital in the middle of nowhere, I feel it's safe to assume that these things and more are occurring all across the country as well, and in greater numbers. It always seems so simple from the other side, but this whole thing goes much much deeper than a news story, metrics on a chart, and etc.
  3. You know that this gets the testosterone flowing, makes for a very Woody, Woody....
  4. The 2nd leg of my Ironman preview workouts up in placid, I tackled the bike loop, 3100 feet of elevation and I was stoked about my split!
  5. I'll try and explain my thoughts a little later, I'm trying to meet most halfway, compared to my stance in April. I'm out in Lake Placid right now and don't have much service.
  6. What if that person was coming to the hospital for a psych consult and happened to have one of the other million bugs that still exist and can cause a fever.... That person ends up not getting the help they need and another life is lost due to Covid but not Covid. I have seen sooooo many cases of Covid killing people that never had the virus, the steps we have arbitrarily taken that don't make much sense have cause a significant fallout in other areas that are not being reported. Some steps I'm fine with, some make sense, others are nothing more than a feel good load of mularky.
  7. Not arguing for replacing by any means, I simply think it's just fluff. A lot of the steps were taking are nothing more than fluff. If they help people sleep better at night then wonderful.
  8. Up in Lake placid, did the 1.2 mile swim in Mirror lake, bit of a slow finish, but still not bad overall.
  9. I was told I had a 92 degree temp when I had to "check in" to work one day and it was like "oh, you're under 98.6, you're all clear" The accuracy of temporal/infrared Temps is very very user dependant and very inaccurate as well. If you have a fever, you'd be flush, sweaty, etc, but basic physical appearance and physical exams are apparently a thing of the past.
  10. I'm guessing he was after your 2nd wife...
  11. We can make it a 3 way..... ??
  12. Cmon NS, come down and train with me ? There are some intense and insane athletes, def not the way I'll ever be wired, it's certainly impressive to see, but man!!! I had bike splits of 5 miles yesterday of 16 min or so and I was still being passed easily!
  13. I was happy to see hockey the other night, but when I watched it, I wasn't all that excited, I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't feel like playoff hockey to me.
  14. I just finished my first ever Triathalon yesterday, it was a sprint Triathalon, so pretty short overall. What a unique experience, very intimidating also. I finished in 1:17 so fairly middle of the pack which is fine with me, I did beat my buddy by 13 minutes, so he owes me a calzone and a beer ?? It's funny, yesterday there were so many people in 10k dollar bikes that I passed and at the end a guy on a 300$ diamondback passed me lol.
  15. I'm probably out this year, not focusing much on sports so much these days
  16. Venice was cool for a day or 2, but it didn't quite do it for me the way I thought it would. I found the Almafi coast overall to be much more spectacular
  17. Ah yes the ring of Kerry and the wild Atlantic way were amazing!
  18. We simply can't cure viruses, we haven't been able to for hundreds of years and we aren't going to anytime soon (except hepatitis C) we can get to treatments to help them lay dormant or to allow timing out of the virus so it can't replicate properly. Maybe we can figure out some of the miraculous breakthroughs that cure Hep C and implement that in research going forward; it's also rather sad, but a lot of "studies" being put forth are pure junk and speculation and being touted as actual science. Mostly because we have a need to have something new in our faces every 15 seconds.
  19. That's not the answer from an Ironman ??
  20. Cycling is great, I look forward to the days where I don't have a heavy training load, cycling for pleasure or just sightseeing is great too. But also ripping down a hill at 50mph is also a Blast!!! Until I realize I have to go back up it.
  21. And both Swedish and German Babes❤️❤️
  22. Wishing I was German or Swedish right now
  23. @New Scotland (NS) Istanbul and turkey in general are amazing. One of my favorite major cities I've ever been. Cappadocia turkey was amazing too!
