I take issue with the conclusion here. I agree with the notion that he is young and has no mentor. I think this ultimately affects your predicted outcome in a negative way. I believe Rasmus has the tools to be finer than fine. But he is in a poor situation to create the tool box and it is most definitely affecting his development. Not unlike Rasmus the Prior, frankly.

KA was obviously being groomed for a bigger role. He had time and experience in an NHL front office prior to taking the reigns. What has Briere done to cement the notion that he is a bright young mind, ready for an NHL GM position?

If the Sabres hired an ECHL GM we’d all skewer that decision, and rightfully so. No way is Briere ready for that big of a jump, under that big of a spotlight.

At some point it is going to be the same for the guys on the ice.

They are Josh Gorges and Brian Gionta v2. Okposo has had a successful enough career to be a role model to the skill guys. He can relate to them. And Girgs, he's just a consummate pro, the Gorges role. They are the only likeable personalities IMO in the last decade. I'm glad they survived through this. It's a good thing this time we don't have a couple of pre-ordained saviours to ignore the guys who have been there before.

4 years ago I started to believe that we were headed towards civil war. Nothing that has been happening currently leads me to believe that train is slowing down any. I think the whole COVID thing is being used as a lever to fuel those fires even further. If this new variant takes us back to last year with closed economies and lockdowns, it might be the final spark.

I was stuck with the Detroit announcing team last night. They made references to the Raymond-Larkin-Bertuzzi line being one of the best in hockey right now. This would be a perfect example of Thompson being slotted at least one line too high. He's not an A list player, but he's forced to be one at the moment. I'm sure it was the matchup Detroit wanted. I am puzzled by ESPN+ and VPN. I had been cruising along all season with VPN allowing me to watch all the games on ESPN+. Last night ESPN+ figured me out and I'll be damned if I know why/how. Last night I was blacked out even though I was using VPN. I was even blacked out using my phone and VPN. The gig is up on all my devices. Anyone that knows what the deal is, and how to correct it, I'd welcome a message.

He’s been very effective using opponents as close screens to hide that quick release. That seems a recent development.
