  2. There were long stretches where Buffalo looked like they could run with Washington, and long stretches where Washington looked like the better team. Because they are. Overall, I enjoyed the game, but I didn’t really expect them to end up with 2 points. This is the sort of game and effort I was hoping they could sustain into the late season. This is the type of game that develops the kids. Let’s keep adequate goaltending on the roster so the skaters have the confidence to keep this level of play for the remainder of the season.
  3. Because the IOC can be bought.
  4. 10 points and what, 12 teams to leapfrog?
  5. These guys prevented the inevitable from happening a few minutes later.
  6. Unpossible.
  7. I think he thinks its a mostly empty threat, Ownership knows its an empty threat, and they’ve been using an empty threat to deflect blame for raising prices so the fans don’t get mad at the owner when he decides to increase revenue via raising prices. It has merit.

  9. Just received a meeting notice from Japan for 6:30pm. Ugh. Not so fantastic. My weekend start is delayed. My only solace is that 6:30pm Friday for me is 6:30 AM Saturday for them.
  10. It's less depressing than "if".
  11. Did the team ever acknowledge a wrist injury? To the best of my knowledge his injury was never defined further than “upper body” and the wrist part was fan speculation. Granted, how does limping result from an upper body injury?
  12. Shades of Darcy Regier.
  13. It didn't have to be a fight. Implied violence can work. I'm fairly convinced Jack was told don't do it again or there will be payback. But you have to be able to back that up for it to work.
  14. My initial reaction to that goal was, wow that's an embarassing way to get scored upon. The first time Eichel did that faceoff move where he pushes the puck ahead and gets around the other centerman, it resulted in Jack getting an earfull from the center he embarassed. It was a good while before he attempted that move a second time. I would not have hated a Sabre giving Zegras some business over that goal. Granted, with D Lo on that team our guy would have promptly got his ass kicked.
  15. One guy will hate him for being 6’5” and a minority will hate him for not being physical.
  16. More bettors = more money in the pool = more shenanigans
  17. My prediction is UPL plays reasonably well and it is a close game. But the better team will win. This one is the dreaded moral victory game.
  18. Without the head shots
  19. I don’t think anyone was suggesting that little guys with money on the line will directly work to rig games. More likely, the increased pool of money will further incentivize the rich and powerful people to rig outcomes. So, sports will work just like politics. 🙈
  20. Curious to hear some details. Its been at least 15 yrs for me. I wonder if things haven’t changed.
  21. If he values his reputation, he’s in hiding right now.
  22. Overalls are news worthy in Vancouver?
  23. Another option is to move Dahlin to the half wall. He’s plenty good at play making and makes defenders miss. I think he’d do well on the half wall, and when he does turn the puck over there is another layer of defense before they are in on the goalie.
  24. The point is noone is damaged until they reach a point where they sense they can no longer overcome the obstacle in front of them. It is a pollyanna concept that you just maintain a positive attitude and you will overcome it. It just doesn't work that way. Without an attainable goal, withering attitude is inevitable. Noone chooses to give in and fold. It is a natural result of an unattainable goal.
  25. It doesn't work that way. Constant failure is a huge demotivator that even the best motivated can be overcome by. See ROR. Even top motivated people need goals that are actually attainable to keep motivated. Goaltending is going to set the development of our kids back. Hopefully not permanently. Except its not anywhere near that simple. Tell a bullied kid that morale is their choice.
