  1. I’ve said it a bunch of times, and I’ll keep saying it, the future is not guaranteed. In all of the contract threads someone mentions, how are we going to sign them all? And the answer is, if they turn out like we are hyping them, we won’t. So we have a limited window with this group of talent and then we’ll need to bring up the next group. And what if they dont develop as hyped? Our window begins to close a bit. And what happens if one of our core gets injured? What if it is career altering? We should never pass up an opportunity to win. Next year that opportunity may be less urgent.
  2. It’s…… contemptible?
  3. We can add that to the case study.
  4. Being duped is why they stopped coming a decade ago. So yeah, I agree.
  5. Someone should do a case study on fans overvaluing draft picks.
  6. That he doesn’t develop a chronic, debilitating disease? What a weird concern. Count me in too.
  7. Boy, that had to make the Damar Hamlin incident even more emotionally tolling for the team.
  8. Summertime, right? I remember that one too. I was on the deck of the Italian Fisherman on Bemus Pt enjoying a mojito when that one hit. The whole deck swayed for about 5-10 seconds. I remember the “earthquake “ when the Retsof salt mine collapsed in the late 90s. We are generally east of this epicenter. I’m really surprised we didn’t feel it at all.
  9. I’d say unhinged lunatic is about the same level of hyperbole as heinous act.
  10. Old school. I know they changed it because of 1st rd upsets with 3 game series. To me, thats a feature, not a bug.
  11. Do we wait another year for a playoff push if Tage is out next season? Or Dahlin? Its time.
  12. You gotta get there first. The sooner this group experiences the playoffs, the sooner they will be ready to experience multiple rounds of playoffs. We keep waiting for a critical mass of talent to take that step. We have a critical mass now. It’s time.
  13. I dunno. A player like that seems like would elevate the team to a point where playoffs are a real conversation and not just a hopeful one. I think a net of the difference between what we give up and what we get back is likely worth the jump start he would likely provide. It’s not like the cupboard isn’t well stocked. One more point. The future is never guaranteed. Take the shot when you have it to take.
  14. Are you actually in PR? If so, jelly.
  15. You’re likely getting assets back. The difference between the two is what you give up. What’s a playoff run worth to you? What’s being competitive in a playoff series worth to you? It’s worth a net cost of 1st rd pick or so to me.
  16. Can you summarize for those without a subscription?
  17. Believe me. I have the same suspicions. But in the current market, if you’re selling and your realtor tells you we’re not accepting inspections, you go with it because you trust they know best how to get your house sold.

    It’s Jack Eichel’s fault.
  19. Well, Kim isn’t really involved anymore…. I know. Doubtful that Peters knew that was coming.
  20. What is the mechanism to enforce it and how much is it going to cost two kids who just put everything they had into the purchase? Mostly we’re dealing with shoddy work, but some of it (insulation and plaster stuffed down drain plumbing) is simply being *****. Not sure it qualifies as taking advantage of someone, but it’s in that direction for sure.
  21. Over the last 2 years the market has been hot enough that sellers are just saying no to inspections. It’s a very buyer beware market. And its ripe for people to be taken advantage of.
  22. House flippers. My son and his fiance closed on a house that they bought from a flipper. I’ve spent the last two weekends with my son getting everything “fixed” so it is liveable. Insulation stuffed down the plumbing. Plaster and paint down the plumbing. Water lines not connected to anything. Furnace ductwork just open with no grates or flues. Shoddy carpentry. The project list is substantial but at least it is move in condition now. The housing market in October when he looked at it was hot enough that they only got one look and a home inspection was an automatic no. It’s not to the point where he should have accepted the “no”. But its been a huge surprise to them that they weren’t prepared for. Hopefully he learns from this one. In the meantime, Dad is burning the candle at both ends helping the kids. It does feel like they were taken advantage of to some extent.
  23. Disagree with what? The odds of a 2nd rd pick having an NHL career? That Lemieux is an actual NHL player? That selecting 3 NHL players in a draft is a successful outcome?
