In a way I think they are hoping not to be utterly swamped on draft day so that it can still function. Imagine a packed house, plus thousands outside, plus all the media, managers, and etc. Not to mention the rookies deserve to "enjoy" the event not be swamped by every fan imaginable.

He's already Top 10 in A/TOI and played the full 82 game schedule while doing so. Stats are worthless from the past two years, he was given Duncan Keith's role with a team of AHLers. He was supposed to literally be and do everything.

Edmonton and Vancouver are wildcards in that Edmonton might trade it for a guy and Vancouver can use either a forward or Dman
