  1. He was to become a UFA at the end of the year due to his lack of usage. (He had to play a certain amount of games and at the time of the trade even playing him every game would of fallen short of the required game count.) As mentioned he was a UFA to be, just like Ullmark. We thought we could sign Ullmark, and felt JJ wasn't worth fighting in the UFA market over to be our AHL backup. Ullmark chose to wait and then not sign; in a way handcuffing us as he may have taken us signing another goalie as us moving on from him. (Effectively I feel Adams tried to be friendly and show confidence in Ullmark only for him to burn us with it)
  2. If Tokarski isn't good or is questionable, health wise, I'd suspect Houser will get the start and UPL will back up in case he's needed for Florida tomorrow.
  3. Make it a 2nd + if they can't retain a mil or 2
  4. Again it comes down to Bales; if he thinks he can fix him then why not throw a bone, especially if we are incentivized, at the guy. He was a solid goalie for 2 years prior to falling off a cliff.
  5. 8x8 for Hughes isn’t bad for either side; as long as Jack can stay healthy he should produce at a rate at least worth 8mil
  6. Portillo might need a contract to protect us from a Peterson situation again. If Levi keeps this up he needs to be in with Rochester or an European men’s league; he’s quite literally making Northeastern relevant almost alone. We neither want his challenge to wear him down/make him cocky/stunt his growth. After all he has 5 shutouts within 20 games.
  7. I wonder how much that could be construed by their team and their respective D partner? Karlsson had Methot while Hedman had Stralman as d savvy partners.
  8. Let them, and have him fall in our laps at 8 🙂
  9. My idea was to sign Letang in the offseason for 2x7.5 to 9 mil per.
  10. UPL & Dell would likely go Thursday
  11. Defensively he's better than Hamilton at this age; the other three weren't exactly seen as defensive stalwarts either at 21.
  12. How about no, let's not chase out talent every time they make a mistake or if they don't come off the shelf as 75 point players. There isn't another similar supposed "struggling" youngster even worth mentioning for a former 1st overall. Let him learn and grow; if he's a bust then I'd rather go down on that ship then abandon ship for the allure of some other leaking vessel.
  13. I don't think he's mentally slow; I'd actually say its the opposite; he's overthinking plays. It started with Krueger who filled his mind with 50 different things.
  14. Which goals would you say are on Tokarski?
  15. Bad news: they lost Good news….. well they played better in the 3rd and easily should of tied it if those two posts went in.
  16. Rough, we had 2 or 3 posts and carried play most of this 3rd but only have 1 goal to show for it
  17. Well that’s when this specific problem arose
  18. Dahlin is having a very rough night. Krueger truly wrecked his ability to think clearly. Heavy forechecking teams seem to get to him; give him time and he’ll make you pay but the book on him is out. I’m unsure how you fix that; drill it into him? Alright boys, time to climb back into it; it’s hockey fights cancer night.
  19. I think its in large part due to what he has been saying along with his history regarding the Sabres. He's a strong willed player who plays hard and will play hard for the crest regardless due to a prior attachment to the franchise. He also is effectively "one of us" in that he was a fan of the Sabres growing up and has many fond memories of 05-06 and such. Thus, Tuch fits what most fans would love in a leader off of the ice. A relentless player with a personal passion for the team he plays for that isn't created or produced through money or role but rather personal history. You feel certain that his loyalties lie with the team and the fanbase as a whole. It's akin to why Josh Allen has become so beloved in the area. His story resonates with our city's underdog passion and Josh has embraced the city and its culture in turn. He may still live in California in the offseason; but you never feel any sense of superiority against or distaste for Buffalo. Its difficult for any player to effectively become a "Buffalonian" in the eyes of the populace. They either must live here for a long period of time and thus become a common sight around town or embrace it by other means while not needlessly throwing the city or its people into a woodchipper in the public and private spheres. For instance part of the city's distrust of Eichel came from the rumors of his overarching desire to play in Boston, and root for New England. Due to those teams being despised in Buffalo; it created an immediate sense of distrust. Had he been from San Francisco and grew up a big Sharks/49er's fan there would of been far less innate fear and distrust by the city against him. Essentially Eichel was behind the 8-ball to start, as any amount of the charity he worked on never came across as anything more than the typical charity work many players do in their cities. To wrap this whole thing up, Tuch is already "one of us" and thus will be given far more credence to his words and actions as to his genuine-ness of it.
  20. Tokarski is a true backup 4-4-3 Record, 11 pts in 11 games started. Anderson is a solid backup 4-2-0 Dell is a goalie screen masquerading as a person 0-4-0
  21. I’m guessing he’ll be waived tomorrow or as soon as Mitts is ready. With Caggiula out we needed a bot 6 sub and R2 hasn’t worked out in any such role this year.
  22. In OT, that's how you are supposed to play it for the most part; don't give them an easy route in for a deke. he should of put his stick out but I can't blame him for trying to coerce a savable shot in OT
