NHL Covid pause during the 21/22 season: Multiple Teams Impacted
thewookie1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
1. Bi-weekly testing for all players; Bertuzzi must test daily 2. Every player on COVID Reserve gives your team "1mil" in Short Term Cap Space (Can only be used on players making 1 mil or less) 3. Add Emergency Contract Slots, if a team hits their contract limit and gets COVID problems, they'd be allowed to temporarily go over the Contract Limit 4. Pseudo-Taxi Squads - All Teams can place 4 skater and 1 goalie making under 1.5 mil on a Team's Taxi Squad; players here would be immune from Waivers, can play for the AHL team still but can be accessed if needed 5. Besides that, teams should be smart and make their own general rules on how lax or draconic they want them. Obviously teams that get sick will be at a disadvantage but all teams would be in the same boat. Games can only be delayed in the event either both teams have 6 players on COVID Reserve or 1 team has 9 or more. -
NHL Covid pause during the 21/22 season: Multiple Teams Impacted

Again it won't accomplish anything -
They could but they shouldn’t as it really wouldn’t accomplish anything overall. A pause would give COViD teams a chance to heal but doesn’t accomplish anything else. That’s why team by team pauses make more sense.

As long as they don't shut it completely down we'll be fine. There's zero reason to cancel games or shut the league down completely when COVID isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Cancel participation in the Olympics and use those three weeks to schedule all the delayed games. -
Supposedly, according to Friedman, the Sabres asked for Zegras, Drysdale and 2 1sts from Anaheim. Also Anaheim was not for the ADR surgery

Miller(50%) ends up getting a conditional 1st (2nd that can become a 1st) by some desperate team Hino fetches a 3rd/4th Butcher(50%) a 6th or 7th with some conditions to get a little better Hagg ends up dealt for 3rd/4th Bjork perhaps for a 3rd -

Do the Sabres actually need more RHD or does it not matter?

I’d go after him with Johnson, Florida’s 1st, Philly’s 2nd and our 2nd this year He’s the wrong handiness but he has everything else you need in a Dman. Dahlin can just shift over if need be. Chychrun - Dahlin Power - Vet(Letang) Samuelsson - Jokiharju Pysyk/Bryson Even my desire to sign Letang would work still. That would be a potentially very stacked D group lol. -
What an absolute screwjob by the refs at the end. They tripped Mersh and the puck entered the empty net directly due to the penalty; good goal for CLT?

Great to see a win in Winnipeg Dahlin played well, and seems more confident/competent with a goalie who will make some nice saves from time to time. He plays much more uptight when the goaltending worries him it seems. Overall solid game from the team. Good to see Skinner get another goal and Thompson get some points. Cozens, even when not scoring, seems to have at least a few solid D plays every game. Finally we have surpassed the 20 point mark.

I’d guess Taxi squads and more testing is around the corner for this NHL season. I also believe the NHLPA and NHL will pull out of the Olympics due to mandates in China that could trap players there for over a month. They’ll use the 3 weeks to make up postponed games; and give all the teams a week off in a staggered order. My question would be if the NHLPA bans AHLers with two way contracts from going as well?

I want a vet and at least one righty -
I’m just expecting Okposo to slow down at some point. Otherwise I know he has chemistry with Girgs. But I wouldn’t doubt he’d get time on other lines.

I’ve been plotting my ideal but realistic roster for next year and I’ve come to a bit of a road bump. I neither want to pencil Krebs, Quinn and Peterka all in nor make it impossible for them to play next year. So far I have Skinner - Mitts - Tuch Asplund - Thompson - Olofsson ??? - Cozens - ??? ??? - Girgensons - Okposo Option 1: would be to stick the 3 youngsters into the 3 ???s and use the likes of R2, Bjork, and Murray as potential extras. Option 2: Go out and over pay some vet winger to a short 1 or 2 year deal to run with Cozens and leave 2 spots for youngsters and 1 either subs in or sticks in Rochester. Option 3: Sign a few JAGs and let the pieces fall as they may. Option 4: Other Just so you understand the fuller situation, my projected D would be Dahlin - Jokiharju Power - Letang on a 2x9.5mil contract Samuelsson - Bryson Pysyk As for goaltending, there isn’t much out there. Kuemper is the only competent UFA not named Campbell.

Adams needs to block Rutherford's number to Karmanos; he's ours now!

My sarcasm detector is in the shop at this time 🙂

Adams didn't know but he likely had some reservations hence the lack of major trades. Staal, to be honest was still, in theory, a great move. However, for whatever reason, Staal fell off a cliff at a far more drastic rate then anyone could of expected after his solid season and great playoffs the prior season. He threw up a Hail Mary to keep Eichel here, make the owners happy, and get the fans reinvested. On paper their lineup looked solid Hall - Eichel - Reinhart Olofsson - Staal - Skinner Girgs - Eakin - Thompson etc. etc... not perfect but had legitimate potential. In a way I also sense that he looked into goalies but between his cap constraints and the price via trade it was untenable. So his hope was for Ullmark to play 35 to 45 games, and Hutton or UPL to start the remaining 11 to 21 games with at very least passable stats. Instead Eichel got hurt pre-season, Hutton's play actually got worse, Ullmark got hurt twice, we went through 6 goalies (a 7th on the bench) and ever perceivable worst case scenario played out with the acquisitions. Staal became old, Hall stopped trying after a short period of games, Eakin didn't even give replacement level play and Krueger, a noted inspirational speaker, completely lost the team. Not to mention one of the heart and soul players in Girgensons got hurt in the team scrimmage prior to the season.

We either have zero luck or bad luck; we played well enough to win yet we didn't get the bounces. The shootout summed it up rather nicely I'd say. UPL looked good for a back to back start
