Just because you're not excited doesn't preclude another fan feeling we're in a good position for sustainable success. Not making the playoffs yet also doesn't define there hasn't been success. It's actually amazing to me that after all we've been through, some fans can't see or maybe enjoy denying the fantastic position this team is in.

I think there's a massive gap between any disagreement and being mad. There's posters that are upset and want KA either fired or on the hot seat. So yes, I think there's plenty in-between for discussion and that happens frequently. I think the vitriol is completely unnecessary and boring.

I dont think you can approach 40 mil on defense though. What am I missing? Dahlin 10, Power 7, Noah prob 6, Sam 4.285, Clifton 3.33 that's 30.6 and we have about 12 allocated over the remaining 5. The year after next , we'd have to pay 3 - say 2.5 average to have 8. So that's 38+ mil on defense.

I just don't see how we could do this. We'd be looking at being around 43-45 mil on defense. With Ollie that's 91 mil or so, so if you could deal him but them Mitts is up and that's not accounting for any tenders. I'm no cap expert but just doing some quick math.

I agree, this couldn't be done with Eichel. Of course he's an awesome talent but he needed to go somewhere he didn't have to lead - he just needed to play good. We needed him to do both and it's not him.

I get that, I'm saying I don't think we can afford that without giving up something on the roster. You can't pay Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson and a proven top 4. At some point you need someone like Clifton to be the 4 and you're not paying for it.

So you'd rather they had signed a proven, excellent top 4? What would you be willing not to have, to get that?

No. We can already score. If im adding offensively it's someone with aggression, which Kane doesn't provide. Defense is where the focus should be.
