I don't think this is something to realistically worry about. I don't believe for one second the message is winning doesn't matter. And/or just try to get better and get a year in.
Just like many Sabres, he's young and can get better. Projecting what he'll be next year is fine but I think it's important not to project beyond that in terms of limiting what any of them could turn into.
I'm glad they didn't pay Ullmark even for what Boston paid. If he wanted more per year and/or more term, it's a heck no for me.
I'll gladly wait for a better solution, which I believe will happen.
