  1. If this is what it took for Stewart to step up his game, they can't get rid of him soon enough. GO SABRES!!!
  2. Well, they were right about one thing: Reinhart won't learn anything new playing at that level and Murray knows this. But the alternative of playing him limited minutes in limited situations while risking his health due to his stature, wasn't going to teach him much, either. At least he's playing meaningful, if not developmental minutes with his junior team. GO SABRES!!!
  3. Is south Texas a bastion of left-leaning liberals intent on altering the balance of the electorate in that state? I've gotta believe that the Texas attorney general and/or whomever controls the election processes down there would be all over this if it was as blatant and widespread as you seem to suggest here. Of course I believe that misdeeds of this sort need to be handled swiftly and severely and I have to wonder why the authorities in Texas aren't dealing with the problem if it exists like you suggest it does? Have these people you know personally sought to report these election crimes in Texas? If they have, I find it hard to believe that their voices wouldn't be heard in one of the staunchest republican strongholds in the union. It just defies logic.
  4. Agree, two wrongs never make a right. But other than articles found in the ultra right wing blogosphere, I can't find any corroborating articles on this matter. You make it sound like an illegal can simply be instructed to go to certain voting booths and cast his vote. This is ludicrous. Are there polling places out there that DON'T require pre-registration? Like I said, a canard. Meant to deflect attention from the real ongoing efforts to rig the voting game in this country.
  5. I just can't agree with this at all. There is only one party actively seeking to change the balance and they are doing it by gerrymandering and ridiculous, 11th hour voter restrictions in the places they can't simply redistrict. There is only one party AFRAID of seeing as many Americans as possible exercise their constitutional voting rights, and it isn't the democratic party. This idea that illegal immigrants are being used to change the balance is a canard. Get used to hearing "impeachment" after mid-January. That's the only reason these congressional cowards put off any voting regarding war declarations vs. ISIS, etc.
  6. Thanks for this clip. I think this kid is gonna be something when he learns to play the game. One of the idiots at WGR went to see the Otters to check out McDavid and Strome. They happened to be playing Kitchener and he said the best player on the ice that night was Bailey. I realize that's one game and it's an idiot from WGR but still, that's a helluva thing to say given how good McDavid and Strome are. GO SABRES!!!
  7. I believe this is his strategy as well. There is no need to go on a spending spree for talented FAs until he has a solid new core in place. He's got a nice compliment of glue guys already. And the consensus best pipeline of young talent he can parlay into solid veteran players if he so chooses. He's got to hit on one of the superstars coming out the next draft though. GO SABRES!!!
  8. Sounds like Reinhart really let you down. But if you haven't seen him flashing his intelligence on the ice, his single greatest attribute coming out and the sole reason he was drafted #2 overall, I don't know what to tell you. Your music metaphor makes sense; he's playing Mozart and his linemates can't read music. GO SABRES!!!
  9. Agreed. Major red flag and NOT the response of a winner. GO SABRES!!!
  10. McDeichel. I'll gladly take either half. I don't care if we win the lottery or not, but finishing last is the only way of assuring we get either. I also think TM is gonna parlay those two other #1s into something nice in one of the deepest drafts in a long time. GO SABRES!!!
  11. That and he talks like his mouth is full of marbles most of the time. I know he doesn't have a talented team, but I think he lost whatever mojo he had as a coach regardless. He actually looks and sounds clueless most of the time. I won't miss him when TM finds his replacement. GO SABRES!!!
  12. While I certainly agree with everyone that says SR needs to mature physically, I've seen NUMEROUS examples of his hockey acumen at work on the ice. His biggest problem is that NONE of his linemates are at the same level in that regard and aren't able to keep up in the anticipation department. We all knew he wasn't an "explosive" player, but he's been as advertised otherwise. It's not his fault that his fellow fourth line scrubs can't see the game like he does. GO SABRES!!!
  13. I think that's a valid point as well. At least from a durability standpoint. But an extra 20 games against less mature, less physical competition doesn't do much to hone your game, imo. So while he may play less games, Eichel will be playing against lots of guys over 20 years old on a much more physically demanding level on a game to game basis. GO SABRES!!!
  14. 25 pull ups! Eleven just felt it move! GO SABRES!!! I also think the NCAA competition is superior to major junior as well. Gives Eichel a leg up vs. McDavid in that regard. GO SABRES!!!
  15. I couldn't venture a guess as to who that coach might be. Doesn't matter who the coach is until the assembled talent is on the ice. It's a good question though. I wonder if the attraction is anything like football where a good coach needs to see that franchise QB on the roster first. I would think that our pipeline may be attractive to some coaches out there, especially if we get one of McDeichel. And if Teddy feels he needs to throw in the towel before his three years are up (and who could blame him), I guess he really never was the man for the job in the first place. There's never any shortage of "interim" coaches out there I would think. There are only 30 of these jobs on the planet. GO SABRES!!!
  16. Keep the faith. There is size in the pipeline and a future coach that will realize hockey is about puck possession. And the Reinhart you are watching now won't bear much of a resemblance to the Reinhart we'll see in a couple years. GO SABRES!!! I'd be just as happy with Eichel who is off to a 3g 3a start after his first three games in a much more difficult league to play in. GO SABRES!!!
  17. So now you're not happy that Pegula isn't meddling enough? Tim Murray has the best pipeline of young talent already according to several outlets with more riches to come in the next draft. As much as it may pain some around here, Teddy is a mere placeholder. He's good for getting young guys to learn how to make effort an every game element and for teaching them how to make the necessary sacrifices to becoming consummate professionals, but I can't see Murray letting him anywhere near a fully functioning group of talented players poised to take the next step when it comes. That's gonna require an Xs and Os kind of coach and that's just not Nolan. GO SABRES!!!
  18. No worries, Hopeful. Your disdain for both parties and your independent spirit always come shining through. I wasn't accusing you of being a republican. I qualified my anti-republican party position only to point out that it's been an evolution over the years, not to rattle cages. Let's just agree to disagree on the issue. I think there are legitimate reasons to grant amnesty, not the least of which are the sheer logistical and economic ones.
  19. There's more to EVERYTHING discussed in these pages. The point is that there are valid reasons for doing things that don't always relate to the cynical point of view. And I find the idea that it's being proposed nowadays simply for the reason of gaining voters is the height of cynicism. Back in the 80s the cynical view held that Reagan just wanted to ensure the continued importation of a cheap labor force for corporate America. I was a card-carrying republican back then and if not for Reagan's leadership on the issue, it wouldn't have gotten done. The key was bipartisan ship as you indicated, but there is no potential for that in today's climate in Washington. The republican party is simply not interested in any aspect of bipartisan politics. Period. And I'm glad I'm a reformed member.
  20. I figured out what I don't like about Stewart: he's lazy when he's not being unlazy; poor attention to detail, like the drop pass to Myers to get out of their zone on the PP. GO SABRES!!!
  21. Trottier's press box analysis of "some guys" paying off. GO SABRES!!!
  22. There are legitimate reasons for offering amnesty aside from just attempting to increase their voting base. For example, what was the reason Republicans sought and passed an amnesty bill back in 1986?
  23. No doubt he isn't being helped by the talent and you're right, it starts there. That said, I don't want him anywhere near our talented team when we finally get one. I just don't think he's a good coach anymore. GO BILLS!!!
  24. Nice to see Reinhart continue to be wasted between two fourth line wingers that can't do anything for his game at this level. He should be between Stewart and Foligno instead. Nolan continues to show why he's in over his head. GO BILLS!!! Nolan's an idiot. As psyched as I was by his return, I'm that much more disappointed now. They aren't motivated, he doesn't do Xs and Os, and for all his talk, I don't think he has a clue about developing young players. How many regulation wins does he have in last 30 games? Something like one? Is that correct? He's a lousy coach and no amount of nostalgia is gonna change that. GO SABRES!!!
