  1. Thank you for your service. It’s an honor to share this forum with you and others that have served.
  2. Players have had the power and have flexed it for awhile. The difference is that it is no longer bad for them to be vocal about it.
  3. I don’t disagree with any of this but it is their mercurial style that will eventually fix the situation. There is something to be said for being willing to spend the money to keep trying.
  4. It is why I added the part in parentheses. I know Lebron didn’t start the movement and while I am indeed “older,” I would like to think I don’t “cling” to much. The GM initiated it when he became convinced that Jack wasn’t committed to being part of the solution.
  5. This is so overblown. Every hire the Pegulas made prior to KA were met with some degree of applause. They were all on somebody’s list of “next in line.” Obviously they didn’t work out, maybe TM needed more time. Now, they have decided to follow their vision and time will tell if they are right but players bailing is a relatively new thing. In and era of Michael Jordan, elite athletes aspired to be a part of the solution and will their teams to success. In an era personified by Lebron( but not started by him) it has become acceptable to bail and go where you don’t have to work quite as hard.
  6. ROR’s leaving Buffalo had nothing to do with captaincy.
  7. The last paragraph says it all. Can’t see how they could afford it unless they believe cap is going to explode a year or two earlier then most people think.
  8. I’ve been saying that for a few months. The next couple of years is going to see a reset and then the players are going to bemoan these right year deals. The cap will explode within three years and proactive teams will be in great shape, as always
  9. Let’s remember that TPEGS really liked Mahommes but let McDermott make the decision.
  10. That’s 8 years for RNH but I’d sign up for that in a heartbeat. By the 4th year the cap will start to exponentially rise and a $5.2 cap hit will be 3rd line money. Its going to be interesting to see how this off season goes. Most of the better teams have little to no cap room and it’s going to be that way for two or three years. A guy like Sam is going to have to decide how much security he wants or is he willing to gamble on a short term deal with a chance to cash in down the road?
  11. I wasn’t dissing Paul at all, just commenting that your post were his words verbatim.
  12. Either you are Paul Hamilton or you have the same speech writer. For what it’s worth, I don’t believe this is the reason for the delay.
  13. High School History teacher and owner of a corner bar with a massive, private “man cave” upstairs. Not that you asked this, but, In high school, the dream was to be a sportswriter until I got invited to a Larry Felser speech where he painted such a miserable, dreary portrait of his job that I turned to actuarial sciences.
  14. I believe they would love to sign Sam and make him their number one center for a couple years. Not sure he agrees.
  15. The plan seems to be to let new team make decision
  16. No, if anything, I think they rather low key it. They already know that the people that want Granato will be happy and those who think they can’t do anything right will pan it. The less spotlight the better.
  17. I don’t think Seattle effects timing at all, especially because of who they picked.
  18. That was in answer to Seattle’s coach
  19. Dave Hakstoll
  20. I would expect coach today or tomorrow, especially if they want to throw it into a dead news cycle.
  21. My take is that TPEGS wanted to see what he was paying for versus what he got by reading some googled article.
  22. PA, I thought you knew me better. I’m not a big believer in “development.” I may buy into the environment thing, but I have some reservations.
  23. This. LGRM has proven that with a little knowledge you can put together a pretty good draft list. Do you really need a staff of 30 to find one “hidden” gem per year? The return on investment seems low.
  24. My point being, as much as it seems logical, there is no tried and true method to hiring. There are stats for everything now, I’m sure someone can tell us if the evidence matches my anecdotal thoughts but experienced over inexperienced appears to be irrelevant to success.
  25. You mean the way it was wrong for Minnesota Montreal Tampa Carolina ………..
