  1. I don’t think they can play Pittsburgh in the finals!
  2. Fans laughed at Sakic. Old school hockey guys laughed at Sakic. Smart hockey people didn’t.
  3. So he needed a year and a half working as some assistant in charge of something to be respected as a GM? Shanahan, Yzernan, Salic all had less then two years working as assistants to assistants so they were more qualified? Everyone was laughing at Sakic the first two years until they realized what he was doing. Adams has the respect, the pedigree, the education to do the job. Who knows if he succeeds. History has shown there really is no blue print on who is the best person for the job.
  4. Experience does not define respect. Adams has spent his life building relationships and earning respect. As a player, Adams had the same level of respect from his teammates as Drury. I love Chris Drury. I will correct anyone who thinks he didn’t want to stay here. Kevyn Adams is the same kind of guy and it’s unfortunate that the Sabres past missteps in hiring has people making snap judgments about his abilities.
  5. Because Adams is respected?
  6. He was not two faced. He accepted an offer and Golisano changed his mind. They should of had both Drury and Briere and ownership blew it.
  7. How does Danault get only $600K less then Sam? I’m calling bunk to these numbers unless Seattle drafts all AHL’ers and then signs 12 free agents to $6M deals.
  8. If Danault gets anywhere near those numbers......
  9. Those numbers seem way high. Even with the née TV deal the cap is expected to remain flat. I’d be surprised to see any contender pay those numbers.
  10. Given the injury and the flat cap, I’d expect he will be back on a one year deal. There’s an opportunity to get him signed to a relatively cheap long term deal but I’m not sure he’d go for it.
  11. I’m not sure history bears this out. There has to be some research available on the likelihood of success when hiring experienced versus inexperienced coaches. I know in football very few coaches have success in more then one place. Shula, Reid probably a few others.
  12. I actually sat two rows behind his mother and girlfriend.
  13. I don’t really think they go with those two. I was mostly making a point that this team had the pieces in place. I actually expect that they will add a veteran goalie and some jam to the forward ranks and maybe one veteran defenseman depending how fast the kids develop.
  14. Notice also, this line up is missing 2 or 3 pieces that should be used to acquire other assets.
  15. I’m pretty sure he played right side almost exclusively before being drafted but not positive
  16. I have a question for you. Given what you think of our prospects, do you think this line up is a Cup contender in two years. Skinner - Jack - Sam JJ - Cozens - Quinn Artu - Casey - TT Zemgus - Asplund - Hyman Ryan Johnson- Dahlin(switching to right) Samuelsson - Joker McCabe - Borgen UPL Portillo
  17. Hopefully Cozens relegates him to third best, then they got something
  18. As long as I can get a Mother’s Day hat trick, I’m in.
  19. It’s like Pierre Turgeon, like I’ve said before. I like Sam, I like him a lot. He’s a guy I want him on my team as long as he is my 3rd or 4th best forward.
  20. I agree with this. If they could have gotten the Ehlers deal, they should definitely have done that.
  21. No, I may have mis-spoken but I define them the same way and still contend that they are not as prevalent as implied. Like everyone acknowledged, Sam is the only miss for the Sabres. Most guys don’t warrant long term deals after their ELC and most of the ones that do, don’t accept a “bargain” rate. What if Sam and his reps would only sign a long term deal if it was equal to Skinner? Is it the teams fault for not accepting those terms?
  22. I already acknowledged he should have locked him up but that the team may luck into getting a bargain because of economics of the time. And I will stick to my point that 90% of the teams have signed one or less “bargain” bridge deals. The argument to the contrary is similar to those that say Buffalo never finds gems in the later rounds of the draft when they have hit as much if not more then the league average.
  23. These are not all the result of bridge deals. Obviously there are a lot of bargain deals. Everyone signed last off season was a bargain, except Hall.
