  1. I’ve never understood why people worry about the guy that’s traded. All I care about is if Buffalo got better. Maybe Dallas wished they had kept Iginla. All I would have cared about is that Joe N helped me win the Cup.
  2. I didn’t mean to imply that everyone was hating on Power but I do believe that your assessment of the play is incorrect. I wouldn’t want him jumping up in regulation but I want him to make that plsy in overtime 10/10 times.
  3. The Power hate is amusing. He makes a great play to help seal the game the night before but he gets killed for losing control of the puck the next day. He’s not supposed to sit back in overtime. He did everything he’s supposed except lose control of the puck. It happens. They lost the game because UPL was terrible and because they didn’t bury a couple of other opportunities to score.
  4. As I near retirement one of my remaining goals in life is to post something before you.😉
  5. For whatever reason, injuries appear to be up not just league wide, but professional sports wide. Take a gander at the NFL’s injured reserve list. Its why depth might be the single biggest attribute amongst the league’s elite.
  6. This. I was really hoping he could be a very good fourth center who could spell occasionally higher up but he has started this year very slowly. Some guys just have a hard time accepting who they are. I think Kozak is surpassing him as the fourth center.
  7. I’m always open to a trade but the only way Power is going anywhere this early in his career is if a top four forward, preferably a center is coming back. Power is never going to be the player some want him to be, but he is going to be a top pairing defenseman whose contract is going to be a bargain when the cap hits $125M or more.
  8. I do not necessarily disagree, however, you are assuming because he’s the better player he enhances your chances to win and that’s not necessarily the case. It’s more likely that a rookie mistake costs them rather than helps them. FWIW, I have no use for Geersten. Hopefully Greenways return puts that experiment to an end.z
  9. No, the $20M available does not count Tuch’s current contract and like someone else pointed out, Skinner’s buyout is $6.4M. However, there are easy ways to pay Tuch, Benson, Doan and Kesserling if that is what you want to do.
  10. I agree with the second paragraph with that caveat.
  11. I never said best players, I said players that can help them win and you gave all the reasons I would for why Rosen isn’t up. They aren’t building a fantasy team. Rosen only helps if he’s good enough to crack the top 6. As for Bryson, while I think a couple of those guys might be better, there is no proof of that. I like Johnson but he hasn’t played better when given the chance. The others are all maybes and the two Russians are definitely better off waiting to find out. Waiver exemptions or not, if the team thought any player would help them win over another, that player would be up.
  12. A couple of things in Rosen. 1) all his points are on the power play 2) history is full off AHL stars who couldn’t translate it to the NHL. If he can mimic VO and turn his defensive game into an asset, he has a shot, otherwise he’s Jody Gage. 3) do you really think the coaches would purposefully keep a player down if they thought that player would help them win?
  13. Everyone is reading way too much into this. It’s really a case of an exploding cap and everyone, other than McDavid wanting to maximize their market value. Kempe and Tuch are almost in this together and my guess is that both will sign for a comparable number. LA has finally gone over $10M so it shouldn’t be too much longer. If you think Tuch is a top three forward, $11M is not out of line.
  14. I understand it’s way early but I look at JJP for Doan and Kesserling and hope it’s ends up the way Peca and Wilson for Alex turned into Peca and Warrener.
  15. Yeah, it’s like low hanging fruit. It was a bad analogy when it was presented. No matter what size the business, no business owner wants to use their personal wealth to subsidize the business. It’s just not sustainable. Ultimately, however, like you said, it’s their money to do with what they want.
  16. Ive thought it was always Tuch and Kempe who were the next tier. I’d guess they both sign soon for similar deals.
  17. I would bet at least 275 are best ball which can be easy pickings for someone with a better educated guess and take little time to get involved in.
  18. I really do respect your opinion and you are one of my go to posters when I visit the board, but man you are like a reformed smoker.😉
  19. As others have said, Ranger games sell well. I don’t expect them to do well with tickets till the team starts winning. A couple of things, though. 1) while Buffalo gets a lot of heat for it, opposing fans making up 25% of the crowd has become the norm around the league in roughly 80% of the building. It’s in large part a function of the ease of getting tickets on the secondary market, although there are other factors. 2) I understand all the pessimism but my point was that it’s not as universally felt as some people tend to believe. 3) Last year I sold roughly 100 tickets at, or above cost. At least half of those to Sabre fans. I also know that at least half those Sabre fans are as pessimistic as anyone on this board. However, people still like to go for a multitude of reasons.
  20. Given the tenor of this board, I think it’s a little surprising that less than 1000 seats remain for Thursday’s game.
  21. Thanks to everyone that is explaining the difference between revenue and profit. You all must work for the government or an accounting firm because I can’t imagine anyone else cares about profit. You all need to look up an old WKRP episode where Doctor Johnny Fever explained the myth of profit. These guys are all making money. Very rich, very smart people are doing something normally foreign to them; they are begging for inclusion. They wouldn’t be doing that for the privilege of losing money.
  22. It’s only shocking if people have believed the long held myth that these franchises lose money.
  23. Yes, but your previous post implied that all three players thought the organization was a train wreck before they left and the fact is, only one ended up at that conclusion before he asked out. Sam and Linus apparently thought highly enough of the situation that they were really, really close to signing here before ultimately walking. Sam was actually even apologetic on his way out.
  24. Ullmark and Reinhart were both ready to sign here which would lead to the conclusion that, if you are right, they really didn’t care as long as they got paid.
