  1. What I believe to be KA’s dream scenario: 1) convince Sam to stay as number one center with an 8 year, $7 million deal 2) trade Jack to LA for top prospect and pick #8 3) turn pick #8 and Risto into pick #3 4) flip 1 and 2 with Seattle as part of deal for them not taking anyone they don’t want to lose 5) draft Beniers and Eklund. 6) sign true #2 defenseman to go with Dahlin 7) sign true #1 goalie although they still love Gibson and could trade for him
  2. I think they see Casey as the wing Cozens as the center but I could see it starting out that way.
  3. Actually meant to put “western.”
  4. He can just accept his qualifying offer which will put him above where teams are offering long term deals.
  5. Again, how does Jones have “no reason to negotiate anything” differ from Sam? They are both completely free after this year.
  6. But my point is that his only leverage would be to sit out which he won’t do, play poorly purposely, which he won’t do, or agree to go somewhere of their choosing. With Hall, he was in his last months, he could have just played it out and they would have gotten nothing for him.
  7. Who cares if he demands a trade after his NMC kicks in? The only issue arises if they decide they want to trade him before his contract is up.
  8. You implied in another thread that older fans look at certain things in the same way do let me fo likewise with fans if your age. You tend to think you know what motivates everyone using your own wishes and desires. As you get older you realize that everyone has their own wishes and desires. Ironically, in this case both Jones and Sam seem to want the same thing, to return to their hometown or at least a place they are familiar with. For Jones, that’s Colorado. For Sam it’s Northern Canada. Another thing, Jones is only thirteen months older than Sam.
  9. Sorry, read this while driving. Tom Webster was part of the expansion draft.
  10. Webster was indeed traded for Roger Crozier.
  11. As I initially said, I wasn’t commenting on that specific trade, just that they were essentially the same contract status. Personally, I don’t think either team makes that deal.
  12. ? Actually there is less control. Jones has a a contract for one more year. You still have to negotiate with Sam for this year or get him to sign his qualifying offer. They are both free to walk after this year. Which one is worth more at the deadline?
  13. Without judging this specific trade, Reinhart is essentially a one and done player also.
  14. Thank you for your service. It’s an honor to share this forum with you and others that have served.
  15. Players have had the power and have flexed it for awhile. The difference is that it is no longer bad for them to be vocal about it.
  16. I don’t disagree with any of this but it is their mercurial style that will eventually fix the situation. There is something to be said for being willing to spend the money to keep trying.
  17. It is why I added the part in parentheses. I know Lebron didn’t start the movement and while I am indeed “older,” I would like to think I don’t “cling” to much. The GM initiated it when he became convinced that Jack wasn’t committed to being part of the solution.
  18. This is so overblown. Every hire the Pegulas made prior to KA were met with some degree of applause. They were all on somebody’s list of “next in line.” Obviously they didn’t work out, maybe TM needed more time. Now, they have decided to follow their vision and time will tell if they are right but players bailing is a relatively new thing. In and era of Michael Jordan, elite athletes aspired to be a part of the solution and will their teams to success. In an era personified by Lebron( but not started by him) it has become acceptable to bail and go where you don’t have to work quite as hard.
  19. ROR’s leaving Buffalo had nothing to do with captaincy.
  20. The last paragraph says it all. Can’t see how they could afford it unless they believe cap is going to explode a year or two earlier then most people think.
  21. I’ve been saying that for a few months. The next couple of years is going to see a reset and then the players are going to bemoan these right year deals. The cap will explode within three years and proactive teams will be in great shape, as always
  22. Let’s remember that TPEGS really liked Mahommes but let McDermott make the decision.
  23. That’s 8 years for RNH but I’d sign up for that in a heartbeat. By the 4th year the cap will start to exponentially rise and a $5.2 cap hit will be 3rd line money. Its going to be interesting to see how this off season goes. Most of the better teams have little to no cap room and it’s going to be that way for two or three years. A guy like Sam is going to have to decide how much security he wants or is he willing to gamble on a short term deal with a chance to cash in down the road?
  24. I wasn’t dissing Paul at all, just commenting that your post were his words verbatim.
  25. Either you are Paul Hamilton or you have the same speech writer. For what it’s worth, I don’t believe this is the reason for the delay.
