  1. Isn’t this what they said about Draisaitl? I’m not assuming just because Leon overcame it, Geekie can, just asking a question.
  2. Nicely done
  3. Some Christmas Day trivia: How are “The Weight,” Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown,” and the death of John Belushi related.
  4. Gambling Digital Marketting Hockey’s popularity overseas The wealthy with more disposable income than ever The league softening the rules on majority owners. Sports franchises in general will be partially purchased by investment groups. This has nothing to do with the Pegulas “needing” money but rather exploring creative options to turn paper gains into liquid assets. They won’t be the only ones. Some analysts predict that with the addition of gambling and digital revenue, a franchise like the Bills will be worth a minimum of $10B and the Sabres $1B within 2 or 3 years. Hell, hockey had revenue over $5B this year and will probably recoup all their COVID losses within 2 years. On top of all that, sports ownership is still a “glamour” investment for those that need their ego stroked daily.
  5. Hockey business is booming and TPEGS wouldn’t be selling low if that’s what he chooses to do. Everything is for sale for the right price. While I would be surprised if they completely divested themselves of the franchise, the numbers at least make it tempting.
  6. Malone has/had NHL talent. Injuries just killed him.
  7. Don’t be surprised if Danny Briere is part of the new leadership
  8. Taro and I decided to give this one more chance. Anyone interested in meeting up Saturday, April 16th? Sabres play Risto and the Flyers. I have two tickets left at $100 each. I’ll give it till the end of the week.
  9. Maybe, because he’s old.
  10. Sorry, I’ll delete it.
  11. Goaltending is a tough position to figure out. Everyone thought Seattle pull off a huge coup with their tandem and the two of them are among the worst in the league this year. For that matter, our old friend Linus isn’t much better.
  12. But can you get the good stuff?
  13. I have two first row tickets for day before Thanksgiving and two sets of blue line aisle tickets for day after Thanksgiving if anyone needs tickets.
  14. I haven’t read the whole thread so someone may have covered this hut a lot of this is pain threshold and player agent driven. Agents do not want their clients playing until they are one hundred percent.
  15. Peter McNabb 42 years ago. Perreault seems not to have noticed the game has changed. I’m not sure there are more then a handful of 2nd line centers consistently scoring 20.
  16. Honestly, I’ve made that comparison so much, and I’m old, so I can’t definitively tell you I ever posted that here or had that conversation over a steak sandwich and a Heineken.
  17. Boy, this sounds familiar.
  18. Yes, but nothing I can prove and yes, the timing is not right.
  19. Here’s hoping they never return to that “hardest working team in hockey” that got outshot terribly during the Ted Nolan era. I’ll take the 2005/2006 team that had just enough grit to go along with what really wins in this league, offensive talent.
  20. I’ll give you Foligno and Deslauriers but Lemieux was part of a trade that actually made Buffalo “grittier” if that’s a word and Carrier was swapped for a starting goalie. Gaustad went in a trade that nobody would argue with. The team goes through cycles but my main point stands, there have been few instances were they traded grit for skill.
  21. It was at least his second game. I saw he got an assist when his stick broke the other day.
  22. I’m not sure if that was an answer to my question but it does not fit.
  23. Like who else, exactly? I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple but other then the Jacques Richard trade in the 70’s which didn’t work out and the Barnaby/ Barnes trade which did, I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
  24. Acquiring Boychuk is not only about exceeding the floor but giving them the flexibility to trade guys like Eakin, Miller and Haggard without worrying about said floor.
