My belief is deal is done. The only thing holding up announcement being held up is Ulmark making sure no last minute team coming in with above market offer. Seems like four teams have already found their guy so his options are limited.
-
I believe it’s three years for around $5M. Players who believe in themselves want to keep deals at 3 years because cap is expected to sky rocket in three years. All these young guys signing 8 year deals are going to regret it.

They for doing that math for us.
-
I will still stick to my belief that this deal is pretty much done and will be announced before free agency starts.

I love the fine print side effects but you need an 800 number to call and a little blurb how if you can’t afford it you may qualify for free dosage.

Do people really believe he was offered top ten pick and prospect last night and he said, nah, I’m good with a low pick next year, a third liner and a long shot goalie? The market is what it is for RFA forwards. Look what the Rangers got. Look what everyone paid at the deadline(except for ridiculous Foligno deal). He made it clear he wasn’t staying. They want to rid the team of guys like that. They took the best they were offered.

The couple signings of Florida goalie and Carolina goalie( sorry not sure of either spelling ) lowered Linus’ expectations. Deal should be done today.
-
I sure hope so but it’s so hard to tell

I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the effort.

I know people get mad at me for bringing him up, but don’t forget Lawrence Pilut.

I believe they think they can win this year and end up with a talent pool of Peterka Quinn Beniers Ekkund LA prospect and be set up nicely when cap explodes in two or three years -

What I believe to be KA’s dream scenario: 1) convince Sam to stay as number one center with an 8 year, $7 million deal 2) trade Jack to LA for top prospect and pick #8 3) turn pick #8 and Risto into pick #3 4) flip 1 and 2 with Seattle as part of deal for them not taking anyone they don’t want to lose 5) draft Beniers and Eklund. 6) sign true #2 defenseman to go with Dahlin 7) sign true #1 goalie although they still love Gibson and could trade for him -

I think they see Casey as the wing Cozens as the center but I could see it starting out that way. -

He can just accept his qualifying offer which will put him above where teams are offering long term deals. -

Again, how does Jones have “no reason to negotiate anything” differ from Sam? They are both completely free after this year. -
But my point is that his only leverage would be to sit out which he won’t do, play poorly purposely, which he won’t do, or agree to go somewhere of their choosing. With Hall, he was in his last months, he could have just played it out and they would have gotten nothing for him.

Who cares if he demands a trade after his NMC kicks in? The only issue arises if they decide they want to trade him before his contract is up.

You implied in another thread that older fans look at certain things in the same way do let me fo likewise with fans if your age. You tend to think you know what motivates everyone using your own wishes and desires. As you get older you realize that everyone has their own wishes and desires. Ironically, in this case both Jones and Sam seem to want the same thing, to return to their hometown or at least a place they are familiar with. For Jones, that’s Colorado. For Sam it’s Northern Canada. Another thing, Jones is only thirteen months older than Sam. -

As I initially said, I wasn’t commenting on that specific trade, just that they were essentially the same contract status. Personally, I don’t think either team makes that deal. -

? Actually there is less control. Jones has a a contract for one more year. You still have to negotiate with Sam for this year or get him to sign his qualifying offer. They are both free to walk after this year. Which one is worth more at the deadline? -

Without judging this specific trade, Reinhart is essentially a one and done player also.
