  1. They offered him the deal he said he wanted and I think he planned on signing it till the Bruins stepped in. The Sabres were surprised someone offered more. I think Ulmark was surprised as well. You can’t blame anyone for picking the Bruins over the Sabres at this point in time.
  2. The Sabres will never admit it but they thought either Ulmark or Kuemper would be their goalie this year. They never envisioned someone exceeding Ulmark’s ask or Seattle signing Grubauer and scuttling plan B.
  3. No, you are missing the point. Failure is making a deal just to make a deal.
  4. A) I could not care less what people on social media think. Like every other issue, there is nowhere near the unanimity that you portray. B) when there is a deal worth being taken, it will be done. I don’t care if it happens tomorrow, next month or next year.
  5. So we want our GM to make his decisions in order to acquiesce other fanbases? We now care that much about what other fans’ perception is of our franchise? Seriously that is who we are worried about?
  6. Who is talking about it? I’m seriously asking. Other then message boards or “insiders” who is talking about it?
  7. Who exactly are all these people casting a jaundiced view of the league because of the Jack Eichel stalemate? I have not seen a single story discussing this that hasn’t been written by an “insider” a “blogger” or a fan who wants him traded to “their” team. Is it being covered by ABC. NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, CSPAN, ??? Is their a Ken Burn’s documentary being written? Is Congress investigating?
  8. I think some fans would and when you’ve lost the numbers that they have lost, some fans might be too many. The Bills lost 700 season ticket holders over a vaccination policy. I know four people who dropped out of Sabres season tickets over it. The passion some people feel about singing the National Anthem at sporting events, no matter how misguided, is real to those people.
  9. While I agree with this, the Sabres are in no position to alienate any more segments of their fan base.
  10. Evolving hockey should have read some of the better prognosticators.
  11. This is exactly what was expected by prognosticators in the know. The Sabres would have went longer term but not over $8M and Rasmus wasn’t going to accept that. Some people act like it’s strictly a team decision. Smart players who believe in themselves realize it’s foolish to sign long term unless you get a huge overpayment. For the millionth time, the cap is going to skyrocket after a couple years of correction and there are going to be a lot of unhappy, underpaid players.
  12. It would appear only Wyld and Taro are interested this year. I will give it till end of day today other I will pm those two and assume no one else interested
  13. Yep. We will see how it goes
  14. If anyone is interested in doing this again, I will need to know soon and have the money by October 2nd. No pressure, I understand the team is not exactly worth the effort.
  15. Oh please, this league has done nothing to diffuse the situation in Chicago, allowed Montreal to draft a scumbag and they are worried about bad press over Jack Eichel?
  16. Southern Tier was doing some orientation today. Should be open soon.
  17. I’m not sure what is lately but you seem to reply to what you think I said rather then what I said. MLB and WR1 will be locked up before cap explosion. I also said that value contracts are always helpful. The main point, however, is that their window will be extended and good rookie deals will be less important during the adjustment period. Tampa has already proven you can not only win the Super Bowl but also retain your entire starting roster without a QB on a rookie deal by pushing money two and three years down the road when the true cap increases exponentially.
  18. My point is that the Bills will have most of the important positions locked up at below market contracts. CB1, QB1, MLB, WR1 could all be under long term contracts before the cap skyrockets. Value contracts are always helpful but there will be a 3 to 4 year period of adjustment and smart contenders will take advantage to extend their window.
  19. The cap is going to explode and getting their stars signed long term before will allow the present contenders to extend their window. Rookie contracts, while always beneficial, will not have the same importance as they have had in the past.
  20. Its not really the point, but ok, on that we agree.
  21. Exactly, just like when the Eagles lost Carson Wentz to injury and had to go with Nick Foles and…..oh wait, not a good example.
  22. In a way, I envy you and those so emotionally wrapped up in things like this. I don’t understand it, but at times I wish I did. Enjoy your weekend.
  23. How do you know how deliberate he was about anything? What if he was referring to Red Sox plummeting and losing to the Yankees.
  24. That sounds kinda familiar
  25. I’m assuming you are talking about the NYR, LV connection. I’m not sure there is anything to it but things have really tightened up with the KA regime. If I had to guess, I’m guessing Buffalo is hoping a straight deal with LV but is prepared to settle for a three way with the NYR. Just to be clear, this is all just speculation on my part given where things stood before the draft. If nothing else, Wookie and Dudacek can work on a scenario that has Z ending up in LV and Jack going to NYR. Have at it boys.
