  1. If the Sabres were able to lure Dudley out of Carolina that would be a not insignificant vote of confidence in Adams from a well respected front office guy.
  2. Thank you so much for doing this ?
  3. I think it's probably a reach to even try to compare what video scouting means now to what the Sabres might have been doing back then. Even if they were trying to accomplish the same goals, the difference in available technology and theory now makes it a whole different animal.
  4. I'm agreeing with the consensus on Milk snake. They're known to exhibit behavior similar to rattlers.
  5. Not to mention that so many of the photos we have of the Sabres in blue and gold were taken with cameras using film, which imparts its own characteristics on the colors. The first commercially available DSLR camera came out in 1988, not too long before the end of the original blue and gold era. So the blue we think of might be blue as seen on film rather than with our own eyes.
  6. Great film. Loaded with subtext if you're into that kinda thing. And Dafoe is brilliant.
  7. This squares with what we've heard about things like the Pegulas overriding Botterill on signing Jack to a shorter term deal. It would seem to be the case that Botterill simply didn't like O'Reilly's contract and decided that his "cap genius" move would be to save the Pegulas a bunch of money by getting rid of him. Clearly that didn't work. And his body of work since then only got worse.
  8. Gonna need a Thunderdome between the Johns on this one
  9. Shockingly, the team is the Lightning. Florida, y'all.
  10. There's just no way this is going to work. Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth if a team loses a bunch of players to testing positive before a game and it costs them a win, or a series, or the Cup? Just cancel the season.
  11. I gotta be honest, I don't see why John should want to participate here. The currency of this forum is speculation and by occupation John is not allowed to trade in speculation. Unless he's going to provide us information beyond what is available to us in his published work, and the work of his colleagues, in order to enrich the debates, I don't know what he has to gain, or what we have to gain. All we can offer him is debate on the information we have. If he has different or better information than us, but he can't introduce it, then all he can do is say "you guys don't know what you're talking about", which of course may be true, but is also completely unproductive. I think there's a reason media people don't fit here, and it's not the posters. It's the nature of the thing.
  12. He's certainly seen enough dysfunction to know how a team shouldn't operate.
  13. That's pretty much my theory. The extent of Adams' involvement has been revealed in things like him sitting on the governor's board and travelling with the team. If he wasn't running the review outright, he was certainly directly and completely involved. Who better to take over the team at this point than the one who now knows it from top to bottom? It's the logical choice. And he should know his blind spots and be able to make hires to fix that. That's what a leader would do.
  14. Oh, no, that's my choice. The arena beer selection is terrible. I want to fix it.
  15. Guess I'm on the beer drinking team
  16. Somewhere out there Wayne Simmonds is cursing his bad luck that he didn't get to sign that 5 year deal in time.
  17. It's worth the read. Just messed up, but also infinitely quotable.
  18. I used Lord of the Flies for pretty much every essay question on every test in every subject, even in college. You can apply stuff from that book anywhere. People are messed up.
  19. I've been back in the office for a couple weeks and we have to wear a mask when we get up from our desk. I had to wear one while getting a haircut yesterday. It's all a complete non-issue to me. In fact it's going to be weird when we eventually go back to not having to wear masks. I'm used to it.
