  1. The "lack of communication" thing cropping up again is troubling. This is two management groups in a row where apparently no one was on the same page or paying attention to details. Players don't get signed, negotiations get botched, deadlines get missed, the coach and the GM aren't on the same page, the GM has no idea what is going on with his players... What's the point of having a bunch of AGMs and paying them a bunch of money if the work isn't going to get done? Might as well cut back and eliminate some bloat. Then see what you really need to get things done and fill those roles.
  2. The nice part about my relationship with the Sabres being as frayed as it is, is that I basically have no reason not to shrug and go "eff it, let's see what happens." Either this works and I get to care again, or it doesn't and nothing changes for me whatsoever.
  3. So is the implication here that Adams was already sort of doing AGM stuff for Jason? I wonder how long that has been going on.
  4. I think Jack was looking for that. Isn't he the one who said that in his zoom call?
  5. Guess maybe we don't have to worry about Simmonds being re-signed now
  6. It's hard for me to imagine it's anything other than this. The priority is simply to have the right people. If the balance of power falls in a non-traditional way then so be it. Sometimes you find people that fit a structure. Other times you find a structure that fits people. It just depends on where your strengths are: structure, or people? Looks like they're saying: keep the good people and make things work for them. In that case, it's a vote of confidence in Krueger. They see him as valuable enough to change the structure to fit around him. League traditions be damned.
  7. I think this is something that will NEED to happen for me to feel good about this. I need to see experienced people around Adams.
  8. This is basically what I'm seeing. They're really happy with the model and the ethos of the Bills right now, so why wouldn't they want that same model on the Sabres? The Bills are efficient and effective, the Sabres are a convoluted and useless mess.
  9. Not to give the Pegulas much credit here but, frankly, I don't blame them for picking someone inside the org that they've known for a long time. They've had plenty of "help" from the league, and advice from outside "experts", and look where it has gotten them? A bunch of schmuck GMs and coaches.
  10. It'll be interesting to see who gets brought in as part of a new management team. I would expect "experienced" people. I have to imagine Adams/Krueger will both be answering directly to Kim.
  11. That's basically what I'm getting at. Adams is taking the "daily grind" stuff, and Krueger takes a more "high level" spot.
  12. Yup. My fears have been alleviated. No more of his hapless "asset management" to worry about. We'll see what comes next. But I feel good about it. Even if "it" is just Ralph telling Kevyn "let's get that guy, Jack says he's hard to play against".
  13. I'm going all in on the Krueger is the actual GM thing. Adams feels like an "in title only" appointment. They've got some time now to set this structure up the way they want it.
  14. Naming Adams as the GM is interesting. Does this mean we're getting that weird "Krueger is technically the GM" setup we were talking about?
  15. NS has The Legend. That'll turn heads.
  16. The only versions for me nowadays are the Harmy's Despecialized Editions. It's a high-quality fan edit that you have to hunt down around the various file sharing websites out there. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but they're excellent and worth it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmy's_Despecialized_Edition
  17. It certainly would have been poetic!
  18. I don't really know what to take from it. I think maybe the idea is they might have been more motivated to let him go if they had remembered they owed him a bonus...
  19. I don't know for sure, but I had heard about it a while back from someone here and now it comes up briefly on DBTB this week. About 2:45 mark. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-126-mock-offseason-2-0/id1113848918?i=1000477155077
  20. Did anyone else see the thing about Botterill's contract? Apparently there was a May 15th cutoff date and the Pegulas missed it and ended up having to pay him a performance bonus, so that's why he's still here.
  21. Very excited to see how Botterill somehow screws up being gifted a stagnant salary cap because of a global pandemic.
  22. A lot of people convinced themselves Pilut was better than he really is.
  23. Yeah, and? It appears to be something that would be hard to detect. It's hard to blame anyone for not having diagnosed it right away. The symptoms might not have presented as something obvious. Hutton might have just thought he was fatigued, or maybe not mentally focused. The concern is that after they "discovered" it in January he still played 15 more games and went 6-8-0. Could they not have put him on IR? Is there no way to evaluate this or treat it as an injury where the player shouldn't be playing?
