8 bells I happened to catch Zadorov take a hooking penalty the other night on HNIC. Points: as someone pointed out, Gorges is directly affected by the team not scoring. He never generates offense anyways, but he's not getting points via the Larry Carriere method (give the puck to Gil behind the net, who then skates through everyone and scores). I think we'll see some assists when Eichel returns. PIM: Gorges tasked with containing the other teams' top-line players is going to result in penalties. He can't keep up so he has to find less-legal methods. I doubt he was playing with Subban in MTL, so he wasn't getting the other teams' best.

Last I saw in the Pu thread, his OHL pace translates to something like 40 points in the NHL. If that's the Sabres future depth, I'm really happy. I'd be surprised if more than a handful of teams have a guy over 30 points/yr in the bottom 6. One data point, the top-scoring team (Goals-for) in the NHL last year, the Dallas Stars, had six forwards and two D over 30 points last year. They also had three more forwards at 29 points. If the statistical average for OHL to NHL holds for Pu, he is a solid NHL player for bottom-6, maybe second line. He's apparently playing PK so he's not terrible defensively.

My pleasure! XRDP is a bit confusing; I remember having a tough time figuring out where the current version is due to the "original" version (0.6.1, or so) was the last and then someone else kept working on it up to 0.9.0 or something. If it's in your package manager, use that. I'm still building RPMs from sources I had to hack up to work, but I think the current version is in EPEL for Redhat/Centos; I really need to test that and migrate so I can get away from my homebrew. I'm not sure about Ubuntu-based stuff, we don't use that at work. (Someone feel free to complain that that is one seriously jargon-filled post)

Check out X2go or XRDP, we use both for remote access. If you're looking for something more like webex, I think Bluejeans works well on Linux (Redhat uses it for their meetings). https://www.bluejeans.com/

Jeet? No, Jyou? (within the first minute) That's more NE PA than NW PA (and I've posted it here before). Heyna is "eh" for Canadians. I think there's a joke to be made about "eh-bonics" now that I think of it.

It's been tried before with the Iridium project in the late 90s (and still going). That hasn't been a commercial success, almost all the sales end up with the US government. The problem is the user terminals and phones for Iridium are on the big side, and this proposal has the satellites twice as far out. Maybe the technology has advanced enough that the launch costs and space hardware drag the costs down, but I don't think the phones will be small enough for most people to give up their current models. Iridium is also pretty expensive to subscribe, I think it's something like $1000/month. I'd love to see it happen on a less expensive scale, not so much now, but I used to ride a lot and end up out of cell coverage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iridium_satellite_constellation

One of SabreSpace's own, nobody, is doing well in the voting. I had no idea he signed a contract.

Good point.

We did Motrin when RosePIe was teething. The other thing, and I'm not convinced it isn't hippie-mumbo-jumbo, is amber necklaces. Once of twice we forgot it and it seemed correlate. It doesn't hurt. http://blogs.babycenter.com/products_and_prizes/amber-teething-necklaces-do-they-work/

This popped up the other day and plays right into the conversation about the "hometown bubble", trust, and liberalness. http://freakonomics.com/podcast/trust-me/ One of the points in there is people that go to college tend to trust more, and people that trust more tend to be more tolerant. It's easy to believe stories about people you've never met. Once you meet these people, you tend to understand they're not some monster but normal people in different circumstances than you.

I have a hard time accepting "Sox" on that list. Maybe the Sabrez should get on that list.

CBJ is +14 in goal diff, Buffalo is -11. That helps a little.

No worries Hank, I'm just happy to be in after actually making a good bet. I know keeping all this straight is a chore. So happy, in fact, I'll put 2 on the Sabres tonight. Throwing bad money after good.

I'm not sure if you meant to write the same thing for conservative, but I think a better definition in a political context (or at least what I remember from Mr Sabo's Social Studies class) is "believes that things should not change". I think many "Conservatives" today are better termed "Reactionaries", where they want to undo changes. Everyone is a bit of all three, for what it's worth, just in different proportions. As for conservatism and tolerance, I understand where you're coming from, though. There are undoubtedly Conservatives that are very tolerant, most of which I'd assume fall into the Libertarian sphere. The problem is the "Conservative brand" has been co-opted by some intolerant folks and it makes it easy to paint all Conservatism with a broad brush. I don't understand why these tolerant Conservative leaders don't speak out against those in their community that are intolerant. (oops, there's that snark again, using similar language as is directed at Muslims every time there's an attack)

Nope, not buying it. Addicts should be put into the the most cost-effective prison the free market can provide.

I know this would be difficult, but it would be interesting to see how the house is doing. Actually, wouldn't it just be (number of bettors * $2000) - sum(all balances)?
-
The way this season is going, forcing a double bet on the Sabres on the last game if each week is a good penalty.

It's time to dump some bad players if possible
MattPie replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Those stats certainly show the team has been terrible for the last two years. Whether that's the fault of the D players is less certain; same coach, same talent issues up and down the roster (last year rookies and lesser players, this year injuries). I think the same system as well. It could be the players, but it could be other things as well.
