I’ve never read them. But it sure does say a lot when Tom Cruise sees a guy described as 6’5” and muscular and immediately says “hey, I should play that guy”. So you’ve read them. The stuff mentioned online always says that he is specifically described as being that size. Is that not the case?

The only way those Reacher movies could have been accurate to the character was if the rest of the cast was played by the lollypop guild. Those movies are the perfect example of the ego of Cruise. Apparently Ritchson was originally worried that he was too small for the role.

The only thing locking Reinhart long term would have done was draw a bigger return from the future trade. He was going to want out either way. He’ll, even Florida didn’t lock him up long term right away, starting off on a 3 year deal.

You went from “if one guy is the team” to a “sum of all the parts” argument. But anyway, when someone says they’ll like to see him without the other good players, it’s not literal. It’s more rhetorical than anything. Obviously you’re not putting any player in a vacuum. He’s damn good, but every player gets inflated a bit with that supporting cast. Having the best forward and the best defenseman. That’s a very nice place to be.

Negotiate with other teams. Head to Europe. Nothing's ideal, but if he really doesn't want to be somewhere, he doesn't have to.
