Trade: C Ryan McLeod - Oilers for Matt Savoie
shrader replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
Just once I wish they’d lean into the seniors and their apps instead. Maybe generate ratings based on the number of life alert alarms went off at the time of the trade. If a trade makes grandma fall and she can’t get up, it is drawing attention. -

From my point of view, the reaction on tick tock is the tree falling in the woods with no one around. -
Landeskog loaned to the AHL for conditioning. This will expire after the season has ended. It by some chance he plays in the playoffs, that’s going to be the longest manipulation of LTIR we have ever seen, missing 3 years of hockey. Seriously though, it’s a great story if he can come back. I just love the convenient timing of the possible return.

It’s a big example of why I hate grading trades so much. It’s rough enough with one year of results to look at, doing so after 0 games played is so damn stupid. But hey, this is the kind of stuff we get with the 24/7 news cycle. -
Most* trades are made between a one team trading for today and the other trading for tomorrow. You’re pretty much always going to have that first side getting those better years up front. 4 is probably excessive, I have a hard time giving much of any weight towards that initial bump. Of course they’re better up front, that’s the whole point of the trade. For the tomorrows team, no single trade is going to get them into the playoffs in the short term, particularly when the organization as a whole is pure garbage (I’m trying to talk generally here about trades, but you know exactly who I’m talking about with that description). Sometimes that team needs about 85 trades before they wind up back on the right track. *”Most” might be a bit strong, but there’s definitely a lot of those trades.

And some media tried to hype up that he was available at the deadline. Just because teams are asking doesn’t mean someone is available.

I went to BU and my wife the UNH. I’m enjoying the fact that Dallas’ UNH goalie was the victim here.

Sabres have done it! No longer last in Eastern Conference

The next step is to hack in and tamper with the lottery balls. -
There’s only one number I ever need to know to sum up his goal scoring: 92

Gretzky also has the 46 WHA goals. But then again, Ovechkin has the time missed to lockouts and covid. Oh wait, Gretzky had a lockout and a strike too, less games lost than Ovechkin though.

Ok, Larry Literal. I think the rest of the post spells it out pretty clearly. Constantly calling up the next kid in line, forever being the youngest team in the league… they needed to move from that models years ago and they still need to do it now.

Here’s a fun game. Go look at the all time goal leaders list and find the first guy who never scored a goal while you were alive. It’s a long search for anyone born before the 80s.

However long that leash might be, they risk extinction by letting it go any further. I know that’s a bit too strong of a word, but I can’t think of the right one.
-
Now just picture a scenario where they win the cup. Would you even think about coming back or do you go out on the highest note imaginable?

Matthews is the biggest threat. But he’s looking like a major breakdown risk and won’t reach the 1400 or so games he needs.
-
They’re in the same exact spot as a couple of years ago with the strong finish leaving them one point short of they needed to do exactly what you’re saying now. There’s something here, but they can’t just keep rolling with the next young guy in line.
-
That’s like asking what would have happened if the Oilers took Eichel and the Sabres got McDavid. It was never a possibility.
-
My crazy stat of the day. Ovechkin has played 1486 games. Gretzky played 1487. I don’t know if Wayne scored in his last game, but it would be fun to see Ovechkin do it in the same number of games.

Now compare the sticks.

Says the guy with the most career empty net goals.

I’m going to be up close on the floor for a Pearl Jam show next month. I’ll snap a couple shots at times, but I have zero interest in taking a video at any point.

And let’s face it, we’re talking about one or two game here. If you did this for a quarter of a season, then you’d have some issues. -
Daryl Strawberry? So this Jarvis guy has a raging coke habit, a thing for hookers, and never pays his taxes?
