  1. It also contradicts the rest of the list, but I guess you don’t get clicks by opening with that one.
  2. No active negotiations could also mean that the deal is already done.
  3. Well not officially... not for 2 hours anyway.
  4. So are we upset now because he passed on a deal that we wouldn't want to see him make?
  5. Gilbert didn't add any value for that deal. The sabres didn't want him and he was an extra body for the blue line just in case a 2006 happened. He played 4 games for Ottawa. That doesn't explain any of the Bernard-Docker stuff though. The Sabres clearly had some interest in him at that point.
  6. Translation: He'll be ready come playoff time. One last run under the old rules!
  7. Southeastern grocery store chain.
  8. Don’t give them the benefit of doubt for doing something the have a decanted history of doing? They did it with Bryson last year and I just figured out the other one I couldn’t remember… Jost a couple years back. And that was a mid season addition too.
  9. The contract itself may be less in total dollars (or the same), but you know what the qualifying offer has that this hypothetical contract doesn’t? The QO is probably two way.
  10. Worst case scenario he's in the AHL. There's no reason to let him walk. I fully expect to see him signed tomorrow.
  11. They are not allowed to talk to the players until noon tomorrow. The tampering threat today with the Toronto stuff probably means that they're going to be a bit more strict about it right now.
  12. How much time did he miss to injury last year? Could there be bonuses that wouldn't be a part of the QO? But still, you think you'd go through the formality of the offer, but who knows. Like I said, they didn't qualify Bryson last year and I feel like they did something the year before too, but I can't find that info. There must be some reason for not qualifying someone and then still bringing them back. I know you can lower the numbers, but like you said, this is a small contract already.
  13. Whoever holds his rights can sign him for 8 years up until the end of the day today. So if Vegas traded for him, they then had the remaining 7 or so hours today where they could give him 8 years. The 7 years thing is strictly a July 1st free agency restriction. No one can give 8 years once they hit July 1st, not even the original team.
  14. Who knows what’s in the new CBA, but there has to be legitimate medical reason for that to happen. They’re not planning for that.
  15. Or they just get something done with Bernard Docker anyway. They’ve had a few of these the last few years. Hell, the whipping boy Bryson wasn’t qualified last year.
  16. Why would Toronto sign him first. Were they worried about some delays that might stop Vegas from getting it done in time. An actual sign and trade. That’s a first.
  17. What’s there to review. They can sign a 43 year old for 8 years if they want to. Any cap games they could be trying to play with that term are already covered in the CBA. He’s counting against their cap after he retires.
  18. But even those are heavily taxed in California.
  19. I'm not really sure how much this supposed "not as strong" market really means though. Guess what happens in 48 hours? That market gets turned on its head.
  20. If Adams makes an offer sheet to a UFA, it will be official that he has no idea what he’s doing.
  21. I wonder what the definition of report will be. You just know at the moment the Sabres really need to do something, the Amerks will be playing in California (do they actually go out there?). That’s what actually surprises me if they’re would force them to play in a game: 1) There may not be a game for a while, and 2) the travel inequities from team to team are really big.
  22. Toddkaz? There were a few people who lived and died by it.
  23. It’s amazing how many posts still start with this phrase
  24. If they’re going for one year, their grades don’t have to be in order. Some of the schools may have higher academic standards but they’ve been known to lower them for players in the past.
  25. Ben. He sins a lot.
